RE: ROSTER TALK: Mar 25 TDL | Marc Spears: Mavs are shopping KP - Jason Terry - 03-10-2021 Oladipo plus some junk(Mclemore?) for Johnson, Green, Terry and 1 or 2 2nd rd picks seems fair. JRich or DFS would move to the bench. We would get Oladipo’s bird rights and could keep the best 2 of 3 out of Rich/THj/VO Houston would save nearly $5 million in salary this year. We could also include cash for their broke owner I don’t like it but that’s what it would probably look like RE: ROSTER TALK: Mar 25 TDL | Marc Spears: Mavs are shopping KP - SleepingHero - 03-10-2021 (03-10-2021, 09:40 AM)StepBackJay Wrote: The Warriors are hot for a trade to take advantage of Curry's MVP-type season. Yuck. I'd rather just keep KP. Warriors come out ahead by a mile there. Basically get 2 high quality players while simultaneously getting off one of the worst contracts in the NBA and it only costs them a single pick and a project. Just lol. RE: ROSTER TALK: Mar 25 TDL | Marc Spears: Mavs are shopping KP - Kammrath - 03-10-2021 RE: Mavs Trade Targets Just want to beat my drum again on this issue. If KP cannot become a true, dominant pick and roll partner with Luka then he needs to go unless he is willing to stand aside and let Luka do the pick and roll with someone else. The most important piece the Mavs are missing is an elite pick and roll partner for Luka. If the Mavs think Collins or Wiseman will develop into that then they need to pursue, otherwise they need to explore finding that guy somewhere else. If the Mavs can get that guy without giving up KP, GREAT. If they need to give up KP, SO BE IT. I think its more ab being high on Wiseman as a future star than being low on KP altho that's part of it. Either you believe in him and pay the assets or you don't. No its not that simple @"omahen" because Dipo is going to be a free agent. You need to believe that you will retain him if you give up assets and I don't see how the Mavs could be sure of that. RE: ROSTER TALK: Mar 25 TDL | Marc Spears: Mavs are shopping KP - StepBackJay - 03-10-2021 (03-10-2021, 09:59 AM)SleepingHero Wrote: Yuck. I'd rather just keep KP. Wiseman was the 2nd pick in the draft. Calling him a project is not accurate. Giving a "pick" is giving up the Minnesota pick which should be a top 5 pick. Dipo is expiring. That pick and Wiseman are two very valuable assets. RE: ROSTER TALK: Mar 25 TDL | Marc Spears: Mavs are shopping KP - Jason Terry - 03-10-2021 Most everything revolves around what happens with KP. Should we keep him at the deadline then a signing of a bought out Otto Porter is probably the best move out there. Keep our assets RE: ROSTER TALK: Mar 25 TDL | Marc Spears: Mavs are shopping KP - StepBackJay - 03-10-2021 (03-10-2021, 10:41 AM)StepBackJay Wrote: Wiseman was the 2nd pick in the draft. The thing I like ab Wiseman is I think he is a better long-term partner to Luka. Luka and KP do not play off each other. Wiseman would be a great roll man for Luka and has other offensive tools that give him some star upside. His defensive upside is also one of an elite defender. RE: ROSTER TALK: Mar 25 TDL | Marc Spears: Mavs are shopping KP - dirkfansince1998 - 03-10-2021 It´s not going to happen but in a Mavs-Warriors trade the Mavs should look for a 3rd team that would be willing to give up something for the Minny pick. Time to start the trade machine: https://tradenba.com/trades/Sku83brT3 Warriors improve their chances to win now. Add Porzingis and two vets that are great fits in their scheme. Johnson is a playmaking big that can play a Draymond "light" role. Redick can play a Curry/Klay "light" role and run around screens or spot up for catch and shoot 3s. Pelicans move on from Lonzo and Hart. They use the combined value of their expirings to add a high lottery pick and some future 2nds. They can easily create max capspace to add another star player or trade for a player like Beal. Also get a 1st round 3&D wing that could be a cheap replacement for Hart. Mavs have to absorb Wiggins contract. They add the starting PG and C of the future. Hart is a nice throw in that could potentially replace THJ and/or Richardson in the summer if the Mavs decide not to pay them. That is a hell of a win-win-win fantasy trade assuming that the Pels are willing to take a step back for the hope of drafting well. Well done. Well done. I think Ingram plus Zion makes a lot more sense than Zion and Wiseman. Zion and Ingram are a horrible fit together. Both offensive minded wings who are best with the ball running through them and have huge similar holes on defense. And an athletic big like Wiseman projects to be who can rim run and shoot while also pretecting the rim is the ideal fit with Zion. I have absolutely no clue what their front office was thinking when they brought in Steven Adams. They have an unstoppable generational talent at getting to the rim whenever he wants, and they brought in the biggest overpaid big stiff 5 in the league to clog up the paint for him. No thanks, like I don´t like trading KP at all - but if, we should at least not be paying for it. I see what you're saying, but also look at the team Wiseman is on. He's barely getting 20 minutes a night under Kerr. With several DNP-CD's mixed in. C is the Warriors weakest position and it has always been that. This is the thinnest roster they've had in maybe 9 years. IF Wiseman was good enough, you don't think Kerr would be playing him 36 mpg? He isn't. He's raw. He has a boatload of talent that's undeniable. But he's wild on defense (and this with Draymond coaching him nearly every possession), has no go-to offensive repertoire, and makes poor choices. He's also a rookie that basically made a high school to NBA jump so it's understandable he's like this. I'm trying to see Wiseman for what he is today, rather than what he CAN be. He is a highly talented project that has a high chance of panning out in the next 3-5 years. But the Mavs are trying to win right now. Today. Every year we have Luka is a year where we can potentially contend. That's the luxury of having an All-NBA MVP candidate averaging 30/10/10 on your team gives you. KP has his warts. But he at least allows the Mavs to be competitive right now. Waiting around for Wiseman does not. RE: ROSTER TALK: Mar 25 TDL | Marc Spears: Mavs are shopping KP - StepBackJay - 03-10-2021 (03-10-2021, 11:24 AM)SleepingHero Wrote: I see what you're saying, but also look at the team Wiseman is on. Wiseman is a rookie. Being raw is not the same thing as being a project. I project is like a 3 year coach-em-up play where the guy might not even be an NBA player. Rick's offense makes it easy for a good roll man to be involved from day one. Defensively I think he's going to catch up quickly and that's what you are better on. I agree that a KP for Wiseman trade would look like taking a step back but I think the Mavs could make another move that adds a win-now player to help balance things out. I mean maybe the Warriors are desperate enough to do Wiseman and the pick in which case I am all in on this. Remember a Wiseman deal could open up cap space as well which means you have more money for other positions. I don't have a specific name, but I'll say they can get more for a 23 year old player with a 20+ PER than a 25 year old loaded up with a max contract and a list of medical red flags a mile long and who cant stay healty for longer than 2 months at a time who seems to have plateaued on offensive development and regressed in defensive development. [/quote] Going with SI, just to use some source, KP is the 40th best player in the NBA(already dicounted for injurys), ahead of him are the TOP10, other franchise players, players predicted to be that (like Trae Young, Fox) LaMarcus(hmm), DeMare(lol), Lowry, Green, McCollum, Kemba, Ingram himself and Westbrook. So if I am the Pels, I just keep Ingram and make it work. By the Way, I would love to swap JJohnson+WCS into Adams/Plumlee. |
