A good leader knows Isiah's secret to team success. I don't think Luka done a good job of getting KP involved during the length of their pairing and he can play a bit too much hero ball. I am on the record in the last two plus months saying that I think leadership is the number one issue with what is going on behind the scenes. I think Luka's leadership isn't where it needs to be.... I think KP is not submitting to the leadership around him.... I think RC hasn't been the best at navigating the issues either.... Totally agree. And that's why I keep bringing up the short camp, major covid issues, etc. Yes, every team is exposed to those issues, but not every team is in the same, fragile, developing spot with their culture. To overcome the hurdles of this, particular season, the team would've needed (will need) better leadership than a normal year, even. Just the perfect storm of getting younger and having everything go wrong, imo. I think they'll figure these things out. I really do. RE: ROSTER TALK: Mar 25 TDL | Marc Spears: Mavs are shopping KP - Jason Terry - 02-28-2021 Any vets out there available in trade to lead this team? We should’ve been in on the CP3 sweepstakes. In fact, we should’ve traded for CP3, kept Curry and signed Crowder for the MLE. 18 and 31 could’ve gone to the Thunder(salary matching would’ve been tricky and Hardaway would’ve been gone) Regardless there was no excuse for allowing Barea to leave(again) RE: ROSTER TALK: Mar 25 TDL | Marc Spears: Mavs are shopping KP - Omega_Supreme - 02-28-2021 I am watching this Golden St. game and realizing how much KP would help them. I am sure we would throw Maxi or Richardson in that deal but they are really weak on the inside. Its going to take Wiseman 2 years to really become a difference maker. RE: ROSTER TALK: Mar 25 TDL | Marc Spears: Mavs are shopping KP - haveitall - 02-28-2021 I think people have fallen in love with the run and gun style. Just because the Warriors were an amazing team 2 years ago doesn't mean the league has turned upside down. Dallas is short on good bigs. All the top teams this year have great bigs: Rudy Gobert, Joel Embiid, Giannis, Ayton, Anthony Davis, Jokic, etc. KP is good but he is not playing high minutes right now. He cant score 40 points while playing 25 minutes. KP also takes awful shots like those lazy pull up jumpers from 5 feet above the 3 point line, and he rarely posts up even though that's probably his best shot. Powell, Cauley Stein, Kleiber, Marjanovic are all nice bench players but not starters that can rebound at an elite level. Mavs desperately need a starting big alongside KP. Drummond would be a good fit. RE: ROSTER TALK: Mar 25 TDL | Marc Spears: Mavs are shopping KP - KillerLeft - 02-28-2021 (02-28-2021, 08:41 PM)Jason Terry Wrote: Any vets out there available in trade to lead this team? And, they DID offer the MLE to Crowder. In fact, there was talk that they offered to sign and trade for him to pay him more than the MLE. He chose PHX over Dallas. I agree about Barea, especially in hindsight. RE: ROSTER TALK: Mar 25 TDL | Marc Spears: Mavs are shopping KP - SleepingHero - 02-28-2021 I don't know why some are so gun-ho into turning GSW into instant title contenders by gifting them KP in return for Wiggins. Sure Wiseman is an interesting get, but he is a project. And RC isn't good with projects. Depending on the cap situation the Mavs have the MLE (or tMLE), the BAE and maybe capspace. RE: ROSTER TALK: Mar 25 TDL | Marc Spears: Mavs are shopping KP - Jason Terry - 02-28-2021 Dragic at the top of the list for offseason MLE candidates. Especially if Brunson were used in an upgrade. Saw a report on hoopsrumors the other day Heat people say it’s unlikely they pick up his team option RE: ROSTER TALK: Mar 25 TDL | Marc Spears: Mavs are shopping KP - cow - 02-28-2021 (02-28-2021, 08:53 PM)SleepingHero Wrote: I don't know why some are so gun-ho into turning GSW into instant title contenders by gifting them KP in return for Wiggins. I'm not sure Wiseman fits that typical mold though. I have no interest in Wiggins unless he comes with additional compensation. I think people just want to get off of KP's injury concerns. I don't think KP swings GSW's title hopes much. While I have no doubt that he'd benefit from GSW's improved spacing and Kerr's creativity, Klay's comeback is far more important to their contender status than anything else. And if if if Wiggins is part of a KP trade, I'd honestly look to bring a bad contract (Love, Wall, Westerbrook, etc.) to try and get even more assets. RE: ROSTER TALK: Mar 25 TDL | Marc Spears: Mavs are shopping KP - Omega_Supreme - 02-28-2021 (02-28-2021, 08:53 PM)SleepingHero Wrote: I don't know why some are so gun-ho into turning GSW into instant title contenders by gifting them KP in return for Wiggins. I think many are realizing its best to have guys on a Luka timeline as its intriguing to have a 19 year 7 footer to compliment our 22 year old All NBA player. Wiseman is not a project, a 19 year old averaging 12 ppg and 6 rebounds suggests he is a future all star based on early contribution. We would also target that Minnesota pick as well to add another piece to the Luka timeline. I am sure others share this opinion regardless of how realistic it is. RE: ROSTER TALK: Mar 25 TDL | Marc Spears: Mavs are shopping KP - SamStetz - 02-28-2021 I’m starting to think that if OPJ isn’t moved by the deadline then he’s a buyout candidate...I know he’s under contract for $28+ but if there’s talk of Drummond getting bought out there’s definitely a chance OPJ gets bought out too, and if that’s the case then sign me up to be first in line to try and sign him. I already mentioned it a couple of times but the Warriors aren´t running any traditional PG/C pick and roll action. Mavs on the other hand are running a pick and roll heavy offense. A good roll man is the missing piece right now. Wiseman wouldn´t be that guy on day one but longterm there aren´t a lot of guys with a better combination of length, athleticism and touch. His offensive skill set reminds me of John Collins. He can finish at the rim and beat slower defenders of the catch. Jumpshot is a work in progress but the 3-point percentage is encouraging. There is no way to deny that trading for Wiseman would be a risk but personally I think it would be worth it in the longrun. |
