If the Mavs are willing to include both picks or trade THJ for Gordons terrible contract the Rockets would probably agree. Mavs obviously wouldn´t. Some guy on TV/radio with no inside information says something. Fishs makes a story out of it. Ends it with the usual the chance isn´t zero. We don´t know what Giannis thinks. The more interesting question. Giannis signs his supermax deal this offseason. Who else could the Mavs target with max capspace? LeBron, Kawhi, George are PO and in any case very unlikely (LeBron will be in old anyway). Gobert is not a good fit. This leaves the likes of Oladipo and Jrue (PO). Not really many options. I think it would be wiser to ignore 2021 cap space scenarios RE: OFFSEASON: Mavs Trade & Free Agency (Oct 18?) + Salary Chart - SleepingHero - 09-01-2020 (09-01-2020, 04:22 PM)Hypermav Wrote: https://www.si.com/nba/mavericks/news/giannis-to-dallas-mavs-has-a-chance-predicts-nba-analyst I got excited, and then I saw it was Fish... THJ is way better for Houston system. They need shooters before anything else and Wright is not it. Besides, Wrights 2 years are basically same money as THJ 1 year. THJ contract can be used for further trade. RE: OFFSEASON: Mavs Trade & Free Agency (Oct 18?) + Salary Chart - SleepingHero - 09-01-2020 (09-01-2020, 04:48 PM)omahen Wrote: He has PO. Unless he sets himself a goal to win the title with all teams, I see no chance him leaving LA for Dallas I never said it was likely, just that he was available. Plus he will certainly turn down that player option so he can get the full max as a 10 year vet. Clips mortgaged their entire future for PG. The Clips could look totally different in a year. If they fail twice, Kawhi has shown that he'd leave at a moments notice for greener pastures. And Luka has the greenest pastures in the NBA. He absolutely should as its a ton of money and the Bucks are a perennial contender. As much as I'd like him on the Mavs the odds are basically zero or close to it. When a top superstar leaves, it's not for Dallas. Miami would be probably the leader in the Giannis sweepstakes but Donnie and Cubes would talk Fish into thinking he's 80% committed to Dallas. It would just be a waste of everyone's time. I know we have Luka and KP now so it's "different" in a sense but I am not buying it. I will believe it when I see it. I agree about Luka and I also agree that Kawhi would leave at a moments notice. But Kawhi is from San Diego and wants to play for a team in southern Cal. IMO he would only leave the Clippers for the Lakers. I think Rose and Kennard is worth Richardson and any number of picks Phi has this year. Not sure why the Mavs are included at all. I hate to be the wet blanket, but Dallas ALMOST ASSUREDLY cannot physically trade until after the draft. Obviously Dallas cannot trade their pick without acquiring another 1st rd pick prior to the trade - They also are hard capped for the 19-20 season (Wright S&T + Porzingas signing triggers) so they are going to have a very difficult time adding salary until the 20-21 season starts. I really love the thought of acquiring 1-2 of Philly's picks for taking on a bad contract for expiring/near expiring money and unless there is a deal to be had during the draft (we love a player/someone else loves a player in our slot) that won't become official until after July 1st (well the 2020 equivalent of it anyway) we have to wait until the clock strikes 20-21. Mavs pair greatest offensive force with the NBA’s most impactful defender I can ever remember. It would work like a charm.
