RE: OFFSEASON: Mavs Trade & Free Agency (Nov 20?) + Salary Chart - Mapka - 09-29-2020 (09-28-2020, 05:36 PM)ItsGoTime Wrote:(09-28-2020, 04:29 PM)KillerLeft Wrote: Again, love the player, and Carlisle has spoken highly of him in the past. I could actually be talked into a deal that replaces KP with Turner, if there was enough coming to Dallas.I read this and went to work. I'm much more amicable to this trade than what I previously posted in the other thread: That's a trade I don't want to scream about - I don't think Boston would do it. But it is against trade rule no1. RE: OFFSEASON: Mavs Trade & Free Agency (Nov 20?) + Salary Chart - cow - 09-29-2020 Don't do business with Danny Ainge. We will not win the trade. RE: OFFSEASON: Mavs Trade & Free Agency (Nov 20?) + Salary Chart - StepBackJay - 09-29-2020 Those of you waiting for 9 team trades are going to be disappointed. Mavs biggest move will probably be Wright and #18, otherwise I would expect smaller, value moves. His upside is big, 2-time all-star wing next to Luka. Downside is he was slow getting back from injury and can walk after 1 yr. I would give up picks and THJ but not our other assets since there's no guarantee that Oladipo would stay. The fact that he is expiring also means other teams might not give their best assets either. I'm thinking the Mavs aren't going to have the ammo to outbid the other teams interested. Given the question marks around Oladipo, I'm good with that. RE: OFFSEASON: Mavs Trade & Free Agency (Nov 20?) + Salary Chart - jesusshuttlesworth82 - 09-29-2020 KP aint going anywhere with his injury history and contract. You'd be lucky to get 50 cents on the dollar. Mavs are married to him and his long term health. If Boston offered Jaylen Brown for him, I'd say yes so quickly just to minimize risk. When I see this list of team names (Knicks, Suns, Raptors, Nets, Timberwolves) I am encouraged bc none of those teams can feel 100% confident Oladipo would stay. If Miami or one of the LA teams get Oladipo, you could imagine he would stay there for sure. If Oladipo goes to the Suns or Timberwolves or something he would have a good chance to bounce. That just means to me that if it's teams like that and not contenders, then don't expect amazing offers for Oladipo. It could be a situation where you get like a young player with some upside and a pick. If that's the asking price then I think 2 picks + THJ looks pretty interesting to Indy. We will see. I don't know why the Bucks wouldn't be in the mix here with like Bledsoe + DiVincenzo. Time will tell who is really in the bidding. The Celtics have so many guards and wings they might have to consider a Brown/KP swap. I would at least consider it but doubt Mavs will do any kind of KP shopping. RE: OFFSEASON: Mavs Trade & Free Agency (Nov 20?) + Salary Chart - KillerLeft - 09-29-2020 I'm not entirely convinced that Oladipo ever regains his form, or that he's a fit, even if he does. Having said that, IF the Mavs ARE convinced about those things, it's not a bad "big swing" move, because the worst that can happen is you end up right where a lot of people think you should be - arriving at the summer of 2021 with cap room. https://tradenba.com/trades/mPJfinsW9 Think they go for this? Or, if you think including #18 is too much (which it might be, given Oladipo's recent history) do you think they go for the same trade, with both picks still included, only Powell included instead of Wright? RE: OFFSEASON: Mavs Trade & Free Agency (Nov 20?) + Salary Chart - omahen - 09-29-2020 (09-29-2020, 04:28 PM)KillerLeft Wrote: Think they go for this? No. They have Brogdon at PG, with reserve in Aaron Holiday and (if they want) TJ McConnell. Both are arguably better than Wright and combined have lower salary than him. Indy doesn't need a PG. Deal is way better for them without Wright and McDermott. Unless you include Curry for Mcdermott, that would be more attractive for them. I still think THJ+picks will be too lite and we can't compete with the likes of Nets, Milwaukee, Denver. Perhaps even Lakers, if Indy sees an upside in Kuzma. I agree those bottom teams have a low chance of keeping him. But those teams I listed are perhaps one move from the finals. They will not be saving picks and young players. RE: OFFSEASON: Mavs Trade & Free Agency (Nov 20?) + Salary Chart - cow - 09-29-2020 I have a bad feeling about Oladipo so he'll definitely be in a Mavs jersey next year. RE: OFFSEASON: Mavs Trade & Free Agency (Nov 20?) + Salary Chart - khaled1987 - 09-29-2020 OK, I have a weird habit of checking what other fans thinking of Mavs as trade partner, what deal they are interested at. You know, see the other team perspectives, see what is the market for some of our players. 3 trades suggested by other teams fans on other boards : -Seth Curry for Josh Richardson straight up. Why Philly fan wants it: This one is clear, Seth offers shooting and spacing they are desperate for, having defenders like Embiid and Simmons make it easier to cover for Seth defense. -Tim Hardaway Jr + Delon Wright for Gordon Hayward Why Boston fan wanted it: Hayward experience has been bad for them, they see THJ as decent replacement, with a good coach like Brad with PG like Kemba and other offensive weapons they can expect same production from THJ as he was in the Mavs, he is also healthy player and more reliable in that area, Wright can be used as Smart back up from their pov -Brunson to the Clippers for ????? This one is weird, but I have seen Brunson name as legit option for Clippers. He is a widely respected PG in this league and high character player, all things that is needed in Clippers, and a born winner tbh. For him the chance to start for a title contender like the Clippers will be huge. But I don't get what they offer, Brunson having such small contract doesn't make it easy, Shamet matches salary but I don't see the point? May be a 3 way trade were they use Trez or someone else as trading chip while we get someone from 3rd team? Include Wright and get Pat or Lou? So, any of this trade scenarios interest you? RE: OFFSEASON: Mavs Trade & Free Agency (Nov 20?) + Salary Chart - KillerLeft - 09-29-2020 @"khaled1987" none of that interests me (without knowing how the Clippers deal would actually work) but it's still a nice glimpse into how these guys are viewed outside of our Mavs culture. RE: OFFSEASON: Mavs Trade & Free Agency (Nov 20?) + Salary Chart - cow - 09-29-2020 I seem to be using the "I've never liked that guy" a lot lately but Hayward falls in that category before he became injury prone. Am I bad person for wanting to stick with THJ over him? Curry versus Josh Richardson is interesting. Curry's elite skill (shooting) is superior to Josh's elite skill (defense). I guess that's how I'd weigh it. Brunson I'd try to bundle with out picks to move up in this years draft. Then resign Burke as a replacement. RE: OFFSEASON: Mavs Trade & Free Agency (Nov 20?) + Salary Chart - KillerLeft - 09-29-2020 (09-29-2020, 06:29 PM)cow Wrote: I seem to be using the "I've never liked that guy" a lot lately but Hayward falls in that category before he became injury prone. The bullies around here (looking at you, @"Kammrath" and @"Scott41theMavs") want you to be ashamed to admit that his shooting was a much needed component of the Mavs success this year, but you go ahead and fight the good fight. I'm right behind you. You make a good point about Curry vs. Richardson, and I'll take it one step further: a guard who another fan base wants to dump because he can't shoot probably doesn't fit in here. I think what's good ab this kind of research is that if two fan bases can agree on a trade idea in principal, it maybe indicates that there is some balance to the trade. I would do Curry for Richardson I think provided you are confident you can keep Richardson. I love Curry but I just don't think he's a starter, much more of a 6th man. Richardson is a starter and checks the boxes we want. THJ + Wright for Hayward would be a steal, I am surprised Celtics fans would be on board with that? Can we do both trades? Luka, Richardson, Hayward, KP and then one more starter. You would also be clearing 16 mil of salary in 2021 so you could probably afford to do a multi-year MLE contract as well for that 5th starter. RE: OFFSEASON: Mavs Trade & Free Agency (Nov 20?) + Salary Chart - Hypermav - 09-29-2020 No on Seth Hayward if he shaves that goofy mustache. Brunson, I would listen. RE: OFFSEASON: Mavs Trade & Free Agency (Nov 20?) + Salary Chart - StepBackJay - 09-29-2020 We are going to turn down Hayward for THJ & Wright? Worst-case scenario we are dumping money. I can't imagine why anyone would not do that deal? I thought this board hated THJ. I am actually fairly pro-THJ but I would do this deal. I'm right behind you. I personally actually really like Hardaway's game. My issue with Hardaway is that he shouldn't be a starter but because of roster construction he is most effective there. I think he showed he could play very well with other players other than the Mavs starters in the bubble. I think his fit with certain bench guys is the primary issue. I still maintain THJ could be a very efficient 6th man and a 6th man candidate every year here. I would turn it down, yes. I think it's a fairly good imagining of what the players are worth, value wise, but I don't like the fit here with Hayward. He DOES give you the secondary playmaker you need - I like that. He can shoot - I like that. But, I'm just not crazy about a KP/DFS/Hayward front court, defensively. Maybe I could be talked into it. Plus, my dude is always hurt. We already have enough of that around here. Having said all of that, you're absolutely right about his contract. He's exactly the type of "big swing" deal that doesn't hurt you too much if it doesn't work out. Just like Oladipo, only a little bit cheaper (maybe) assets wise. |
