Especially if they drafted for Boston. In other words, this year's Kemba/Olynyk debacle. I don't think so, at least not to a full extent. All three parties need to be satisfied. Boston will never take a bunch of junk just to make a favour to someone. They will get properly compensated. Then you can go after a big in 2021 FA like Gobert still have a good foundation to build around. You also still have, whoever you drafted at #18 and #31. I know, I know they are pre-judged crap to PICK for the Mavs, but excellent assets for other teams to TRADE FOR. One of the great logics of this board. Waiting for the right moment can make a massive difference. Didn´t we just learn that with Powell? Can´t believe how some are losing their mind 48 hours into the trade window and want to shove all your chips into the middle for Gordon Hayward. I think you look at it like a free agent signing, not a trade. It'll be THJ and something small when it comes time to trade, I think. I don't think the Mavs are incapable of looking at multiple options at once. I have never, ever believed that they missed out on something they liked by not being prepared for it. I think they just don't always like the same stuff fans like, or what fans think is possible for them isn't always actually possible. If a legit NBA playoff rotation player like THJ on a 1 year deal is junk, we need to start looking in the junkpile. Who said all the leverage? They will help facilitate a trade to get some value back from Hayward if that's an option. Having him walk away for nothing is going to be preferable to to THJ + negative trade assets (the ideas floated here: Powell or Wright and then asking for 30 back). I can hear Danny's laughter from here in Colorado. You might be right about them refusing to take on Wright's money. Then again, they might WANT Wright. Either way, I'm confident that IF Hayward and Dallas agree on the terms of his next contract, the trade cost will not dissuade them. I think Boston will get something small for doing Hayward this favor, and you can argue that potential use of THJ's expiring contract at the deadline might be viewed as a prize. Boston really doesn't have much power here. If Hayward opts out they get nothing. Why is Hayward doing them favors on the way out the door? If it's a team like the Mavs that don't have the cap space... They need Boston to do a deal. And so maybe they have a little bit of negotiating power. But than the Mavs or another team has the negotiating power of not being interested if it costs too much. Getting a good contributing player back is what Boston has to want at a minimum. Otherwise they lose him for nothing and get worse. If they don't get worse... Y'all are really inflating GH value. I think last season clearly demonstrated what you say here that you don't believe, and you deduce that something else was true behind the scenes based on trust in the MBT. Still value your opinions. RE: DAL OFFSEASON: Trade & FA (Nov 20) + Salary Chart | $109.1M cap - omahen - 11-17-2020 (11-17-2020, 04:48 PM)Mavs2019 Wrote: You also realize that in 12 months time, you´ll have a much clearer picture on KP´s health. It was not me proposing to trade all our assets for Hayward, I wouldn't do that. As far as the above, I don't agree. Mavs went "all in" with KP. There is no waiting, it makes no sense to lose another season just because of that. Even if we sign Gobert in FA, we are still far from contention as KP is not able to play (this is why we signed Gobert). Boom or bust, no other option here. KP longterm health does not have any effect on Mavs decision making, imho. RE: DAL OFFSEASON: Trade & FA (Nov 20) + Salary Chart | $109.1M cap - Scott41theMavs - 11-17-2020 If Hayward ends up a Mav via trade, then I think there's no way it's something like THJ/Wright. More like THJ/Curry or Kleber or DFS. That's where I start to get very leery. RE: DAL OFFSEASON: Trade & FA (Nov 20) + Salary Chart | $109.1M cap - StepBackJay - 11-17-2020 This is where the draw of playing with Luka could come in handy. GH will probably have at least a couple of options for his trade destination (should he go that route). Will he be intrigued by the possibility of playing next to Luka? |
