RE: Mavs Trade Ideas + Salary Chart | DAL looking for wing help (TDL Feb 6) - mtrot - 01-29-2020 (01-29-2020, 10:17 PM)SkenfromLMF Wrote: I thought I heard a report on 105.3 credited to Brad Tonwsend:Well, after watching the Mavs' complete inability to deal with the Suns' penetration and driving the lane last night, and being completely outclassed with respect to athleticism and strength, I'd take that deal in a minute. Iggy will make some people think twice about trying to take him to the rim. We have Luka Doncic. Grow some balls. Igoudala is not worth it. Also Memphis is one of our main rivals for the future with Morant and Jackson. No need to give them further ammunition for a useless three months rental. RE: Mavs Trade Ideas + Salary Chart | DAL looking for wing help (TDL Feb 6) - radioaktiv - 01-30-2020 Ugh. The deeper we get into the season the yuckier an Iggy trade gets. RE: Mavs Trade Ideas + Salary Chart | DAL looking for wing help (TDL Feb 6) - ClutchDirk - 01-30-2020 The NBA has alerted teams to the impending release of adjusted 2020-21 salary and luxury tax projections, signaling the likelihood that a decline in revenue will cause a drop in the figures, league sources told ESPN. The league office is expected to deliver revised projections as soon as Thursday, an accommodation that allows teams to make more informed financial and roster decisions ahead of the Feb. 6 trade deadline. Not a huge change: [/url]Shams Charania ✔@ShamsCharania The NBA has informed teams of currently projected salary cap and tax level in 2020-21 ($116M/$141M) and 2021-22 ($125M/$151M), sources tell @TheAthleticNBA @Stadium. It is $1M lower for '20-21 and unchanged for '21-22 based on previous projections. Boban's 3,5M really hurts when he can't be played. Here are some realistic names we could go after in the 8-12M range: PG: Dunn (RFA), Dragic, Augustin. Not a position of need, but if we end up in need of a ball-handler, there are some good names out there. SG: Beasley (RFA). Again, no need to go for another guard, unless THJ is not here next year or some trade takes some of our guards away. SF: Brooks (RFA), Crowder, Harkless. No great 3&D player, but some intresting names fit-wise. We need wings. This must be a priority. (PLEASE TRADE FOR ROCO) PF: Grant (PO), Saric (RFA). Why is Maxi not starting for us? It's about time for KP to man up and play the 5 properly. If he can't, he's an overpaid problem. C: Favors, Whiteside, Thompson. They might be too expensive, but I still think we need a good starting big, Powell might be out next season too and who knows how he will come back. Don't forget the 2020 rookie salary. I will be really surprised if we will have cap space. I believe we will operate as over the cap team and utilize the MLE, which is basically the same amount. Never the less, your list covers available names. Some players like J. Hernangomez could be added. Yikes. I trully hope this is also our back-up plan. Not like in the Green case, where we were like a boy standing in the rain waiting for a girl which went to the prom with another one. I really don't get the rental value of Iggy, even if he can give some lesson to Luka. I wouldn't do it, if he doesn't stay another season and is still able to play. Big yikes. RE: Mavs Trade Ideas + Salary Chart | DAL looking for wing help (TDL Feb 6) - michaeltex - 01-30-2020 I don't know why we would be interested in Iggy at this point. He's not going to push DAL into the top 2-3. He's not the difference between a first round exit and the championship. He's not the player from a few years ago in GS. Skills have declined. He was able to shine as the 4th or 5th option, but DAL will expect more because they need more. He's looking more for a spot contributor role on a contender so he can get one last ring and ride off into the sunset. Also, how does 30-something Iggy fit with the DAL youth movement? Some posters were griping earlier this season about using 29 y.o. players. Renting Iggy doesn't help grow this team. It would smell more of desperation. If he won't play for MEM, I don't know why he would play here. RE: Mavs Trade Ideas + Salary Chart | DAL looking for wing help (TDL Feb 6) - ClutchDirk - 01-30-2020 Tell them they can have Lee plus a top 55 protected 2nd rounder...if they say no tell them to go kick rocks and then move on to other targets... RE: Mavs Trade Ideas + Salary Chart | DAL looking for wing help (TDL Feb 6) - Magickian - 01-30-2020 Some of y’all are acting like this GSW Pico is a first round lottery pick. We couldn’t even get some of the ideas you have for a lottery pick... a third star with a second round pick?!?!?!? This has gotten insane how much y’all overvalue that pick RE: Mavs Trade Ideas + Salary Chart | DAL looking for wing help (TDL Feb 6) - aguiar95 - 01-30-2020 (01-30-2020, 09:53 AM)Magickian Wrote: Some of y’all are acting like this GSW Pico is a first round lottery pick. I'm in the middle ground. I don't think it's that valuable, but I don't want to just give it away for 30 games of a 35-year-old that maybe doesn't want to be here. Some of the best players drafted in the 2nd round the last 5 years: 2014: Harris (BRO), Dinwiddie (BRO), Jokic (DEN). 2015: Harrell (LAC), Richardson (PHI), Osman (CLE). 2016: Zubac (LAC), Brogdon (IND). 2017: Bryant (WAS), Brooks (MEM). 2018: Grahan (CHA), Robinson (NYK). 2019: No one (yet). As I wrote this, I changed my mind, it is has high value, especially if it's the 31-35 range. I think we should keep the pick and draft our 1st and 2nd to fit our needs. RE: Mavs Trade Ideas + Salary Chart | DAL looking for wing help (TDL Feb 6) - DanSchwartzgan - 01-30-2020 Just wanted to point out that trading for Iggy gets you to bigger salaries in a two-step deal. Gordon and Dragic are players that you can’t reach by dealing Lee alone. But Lee for Iggy then Iggy for Dragic works. Given Miami’s relationship to the hard cap, saving a couple of million would give them more room to operate in terms of facilitating another deal (CP3?). I don’t see Dallas bringing Iggy back in 20/21. I can easily see Dallas bringing back Dragic for a year or more. RE: Mavs Trade Ideas + Salary Chart | DAL looking for wing help (TDL Feb 6) - SkenfromLMF - 01-30-2020 It is late in the year so this becomes increasingly unlikely, BUT I ponder the possibility that Dallas' plan for Iggy was a 2-part strategy. Had they acquired Iggy for the Lee + GSW 2nd shortly after the offer was made/season started, they could flip him to Miami for Dragic. That could have opened up a trade of Wright + Jackson (2nd rd pick) to Minnesota for Covington... At this point I would rather have Crowder than Iggy for the GSW pick, but I don't think Memphis is selling RE: Mavs Trade Ideas + Salary Chart | DAL looking for wing help (TDL Feb 6) - DanSchwartzgan - 01-30-2020 (01-30-2020, 10:13 AM)SkenfromLMF Wrote: It is late in the year so this becomes increasingly unlikely, BUT I ponder the possibility that Dallas' plan for Iggy was a 2-part strategy. It has slightly more value than a late 1st because the money isn´t guaranteed and considering the lack of assets outside of KP and Doncic (both obviously won´t be included in any trade talks) it probably is the Mavs best asset. Wasting it on a 3 month rental isn´t smart. Or do you guys really think that Iggy alone is enough to turn the current team into a contender. I just don´t see us in all out win now mode. There is no need for an desperation trade that might turn a 1st round exit into a 2nd round exit.
