RE: 2021 FREE AGENCY: MIA leaders for Lowry - Hogmelon - 07-31-2021 (07-31-2021, 02:35 PM)Kammrath Wrote: Yeah, sorry for not wanting the team to shipwreck its roster situation for three years. My bad for caring. 1. I'm proud to be an Aggie. Gig 'em! 2. I really like Kyle Lowry as a person and as a player (character, attitude, leadership, etc.), but I think the risk to reward ratio at this stage of his career is too high to justify the kind of deal he is likely to get. RE: 2021 FREE AGENCY: MIA leader for Lowry - Fuerza1 - 07-31-2021 (07-31-2021, 03:45 PM)SwisherPrice Wrote: That's going to be the issue for the next few years, if we're looking at things realistically. I do not think established vets will want to sign with Dallas to pin their hopes on playing with a young player who is still 5 years away from his prime. Yup. Veterans usually flock to a superstar player's team when they have actually proven something in the league. Luka is a stat stuffing 2nd round virgin who has already found difficulty meshing with another star talent in KP thus far. Add in the fact that he is non-AAU, European and it's a steeper uphill battle than we'd like to admit. Good news is we'd at least potentially dodge the Lowry bullet. The next couple summers look a lot better if Mavs really want to go star chasing or make a couple big splashes. RE: 2021 FREE AGENCY: MIA leader for Lowry - loki - 07-31-2021 (07-31-2021, 03:51 PM)cow Wrote: Regarding Brunson being used to dump Powell, I don't think that is enough compensation and I don't think that is smart asset management. If you can't get something attractive for Brunson now, there is always the trade deadline. Injuries happen or a would-be contender could be looking for a little extra sugar. To me a stretch waive of Powell while keeping Brunson is the better option to open up a little more cap space. They could also have a Brunson+Powell taker ready, then turn it into a 3-way deal with a S&T to Dallas of up to $17.8M. RE: 2021 FREE AGENCY: MIA leader for Lowry - mvossman - 07-31-2021 (07-31-2021, 03:51 PM)Mavs2021 Wrote: Here is where we stand So the most likely Lowry option is not in your list. We trade Powell + asset either as part of S&T or to a 3rd team (it does not matter so probably get a better deal with a different team). That would be Lowry + THJ + room. This would be a good offseason. That Lowry contract is more than I want to pay, but in two years we could use his expiring as salary filler for a big trade when we have access to our picks again. On option 4, we are not required to retain THJ. That would be a deal we work out, and his market may not be more than 4/60. We could start that around 13. That means we could afford to pay someone roughly 4/100. There has been no smoke, but I would love it if we downshift from Lowry to a big offer to Ball. A Ball/THJ offseason would be a success. RE: 2021 FREE AGENCY: MIA leader for Lowry - omahen - 07-31-2021 Who is Detroit targeting? They have made a couple of costly moves to create cap space. I would think one of RFA. Markkanen? https://twitter.com/ShamsCharania/status/1421569072647614465 RE: 2021 FREE AGENCY: MIA leader for Lowry - Kammrath - 07-31-2021 RE: 2021 FREE AGENCY: MIA leader for Lowry - Kammrath - 07-31-2021 https://twitter.com/BobbyMarks42/status/1421582500900528129 RE: 2021 FREE AGENCY: MIA leader for Lowry - Branduil - 07-31-2021 (07-31-2021, 04:37 PM)omahen Wrote: Who is Detroit targeting? RE: 2021 FREE AGENCY: MIA leader for Lowry - Kammrath - 07-31-2021 Quote:As long as Ben Simmons remains in Philadelphia and Kyle Lowry hasn’t reached an agreement in free agency, league sources aren’t ruling out the possibility of a deal between the Sixers and Raptors that would send Lowry to his hometown via sign-and-trade, says Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report. However, with several suitors expected to pursue Lowry aggressively in free agency, that doesn’t appear to be a likely outcome for the time being. Maybe slightly easier to pull off, but not that much more interesting talent-wise imho. Ah well, we are about to find out soon enough. Trade number one gives me hope. The TOs remaining are Dragic, Iguodala, WCS, Winslow, Archidiacono, Yurtseven, and Jeffries.
