RE: 2021 FREE AGENCY: JC and ATL have "no momentum" - Tyler - 08-02-2021 (08-02-2021, 11:12 PM)SamStetz Wrote: If that player is going into cap space or a TPE, otherwise you have to meet 175%/5Mil/125% trade rules. If a players salary is greater than $6.3M, then the difference in salary in a trade can be no more than 5M...right? In the proposed trade, Dallas meets the 125% requirement on their end for taking back more salary than they send out. Atlanta sends out more than they take back (which is always legal). And OKC takes the overflow into cap space. RE: 2021 FREE AGENCY: JC and ATL have "no momentum" - SkenfromLMF - 08-02-2021 Sam at 19 million it changes from $5 million to 125% of the aggregated salary in the trade - <6.5 million: 175% + 100k >6.5 - <19.6 million: + 5 million > 19.6 million: 125% + 100k RE: 2021 FREE AGENCY: JC and ATL have "no momentum" - Branduil - 08-02-2021 (08-02-2021, 11:12 PM)Kammrath Wrote: Why? JC is a floor spreading PF who is on the smaller side. I think he fits great with KP.Fit isn't just about on the court but also money. One of those guys would have to defer... also I think the only way Collins even wants to come here is if KP is gone. It seems like one of them wouldn't be happy on offense and neither would be happy on defense to me. But at least they'd both be in the right position. RE: 2021 FREE AGENCY: JC and ATL have "no momentum" - Mavs2021 - 08-02-2021 Just focus on Kleber for Markkanen. That´s a lot more realistic now than Collins. The OKC piece makes sense, instead of Atlanta taking Powell + WCS, they get re-routed to OKC's cap space so that Atlanta doesn't have to send out additional salary. The problem I'm seeing is the trade match for Atlanta for their incoming Maxi and outgoing Collins (Collins being at $14.05 due to BYC). Collins incoming to Dallas at $28.1M (Which as Tyler said, Dallas matches that incoming by sending out $23,930,125 in Powell +WCS +Maxi) Collins outgoing to Atlanta at $14.05M (Half of Collins' first year) If Maxi is the only incoming piece for the Hawks, they have to be within 5M of their outgoing $14.05M right? Maxi only makes $8,750,000 so Atlanta would still be short here on incoming (but they could take back WCS or Burke I suppose). Outgoing salary...Maximum incoming salary $0 to $6,533,333...175% of the outgoing salary, plus $100,0005 $6,533,334 to $19.6 million...The outgoing salary plus $5 million $19.6 million and up...125% of the outgoing salary, plus $100,000 RE: 2021 FREE AGENCY: JC and ATL have "no momentum" - Scott41theMavs - 08-02-2021 (08-02-2021, 11:32 PM)KillerLeft Wrote: I told myself I wasn't going to do this until the ink was on the page, but what the Hell: Isn't Oubre still sitting out there? I'm not 100% sure how those are calculated in BYC situations, but I would assume it would be 5.25mm (14-8.75). The $5mm trade matching requirement would apply to Atlanta if they were taking back more than $14mm. So in this case, they could receive up to 19. But they could take back as little as zero and pocket the TPE equal to the amount of salary they shed in the trade. To play Devil's Advocate, I'm not really sure why ATL would need DFS with Bogdanovic, Hunter, Heurter and Reddish all soaking up wing minutes. Seems like they'd prefer Kleber to me. I know that would be my preference if this were really a thing. But honestly, I suppose you'd have to give up either/both if there was really a chance.
