RE: Luka Dealt to Lakers: Nico Harrison is a Basketball Terrorist - ThisIStheYear - 03-04-2025 Nico hitched his wagon to old guys, chose them over Luka, now he’s out of options. Kyrie will never get back to where he was. He may be able to take a court next January, but he’s damaged goods. I’d let him walk, trade AD and pretty much everyone else for whatever you can get and start over. Having a healthy Luka and Grimes with DLive coming back would have given this team something to build around. Now they’re completely cooked. Bring Dennis Lindsey back. It’s going to be a rough road and we need someone who can build a viable team out of crap. But viable is as good as it gets. There’s no path to a title left. The window is closed for a long time. RE: Luka Dealt to Lakers: Nico Harrison is a Basketball Terrorist - SleepingHero - 03-04-2025 @GrantAfseth Shams Charania also called Kyrie Irving the “go-between” for the Dallas Mavericks front office and Luka Dončić amid a “strained relationship." When discussing Irving's reaction to the trade, Jason Kidd mentioned that Irving "probably saw things differently." I agree. The Mavs should be in full rebuild mode starting this offseason. Trade everyone that is worth a FRP and start from scratch. Not going to happen though. RE: Luka Dealt to Lakers: Nico Harrison is a Basketball Terrorist - SleepingHero - 03-04-2025 @GrantAfseth Shams Charania says on The Pat McAfee Show: “It’s not out of the realm of possibility” that Anthony Davis doesn’t play against this season. Charania expects “hard conversations” with Davis’ representation and the Dallas Mavericks about the path ahead. How would Dumont and co. even know how to run a search for a GM? This would be a disaster. Either bring Lindsey since he is close to them, or lean in the new CEO. People lean on those whom they trust during tough times. (03-04-2025, 12:07 PM)KillerLeft Wrote: In a very real way, it's 100% Cuban's fault that all of this is happening. I get that. I've said it 6 months ago when fans were singing praise to them and how we finally got competent owners. I honestly wish I was wrong. It is like relationships, it is easy to fall in love during the purple patch and think you finally found the one and upgraded after a previous boring relationship. Until time passes and you are shown their real face. I posted this in the news thread. But, once Luka was traded I had a feeling and posted about it that Klay and Kyrie were involved. They had likely talked to Kidd and Nico about moving Luka. The destination is Kyrie, KD, Klay, and AD. This has been in the works since Kyrie was in Boston. Boston hates Kyrie because the team found out what he was doing. Klay knew what was going on since he had played on team USA and with KD in GS. He probably said no to joining since he thought he would retire with GS. When they didn't offer him what he thought he was worth he was in. This offseason we'll see the young guys shipped off to the Suns for KD. KD, Klay and AD will keep things afloat while Kyrie gets ready to play. I interpreted it as Kyrie was acting as a communication bridge between Luka and front office trying to salvage things because he didn't want Luka traded. I think Luka was the big reason a lot of players wanted to be with Dallas because it was pretty clear that he gives players a stats bump and had just lead a team to the finals. And imo, even if Klay and Kyrie both went to Nico and said "trade Luka now" then it still shouldn't have mattered because it was much more Luka's team than theirs (and I'm saying that as fans of all three players). I don't think Kyrie/Klay both signed with Mavs with the end goal being to replace Luka. I find it highly unlikely that Kyrie and Klay suggested to Nico they move on from Luka. I doubt that thought ever crossed their minds as even a remote possibility (on account of it being completely insane). You think Kyrie and Klay would come out and say they told Nico to trade Luka? The Mavs going all in for KD certainly does not prove anything. That move would be the logical conclusion of everything Nico has done (without influence from Linsey) since he got here. Is your theory that Kyrie signed an extension with Dallas (after being traded) and Klay signed with Dallas in the off season (after GS didn't offer him what he wanted) with the sole end game of convincing Nico to trade Luka for AD and then to go after KD? That seems far fetched, so trying to make sure I'm understanding it correctly. That's what I truly think is going on though.
