I mean we can't be surprised. I thought Sharp has shown some things, but lets not get carried away. He scored a little over 3 points per game as a 5th year senior. He didn't even start for his college team. He is starting for our summer league. Sure, bring him in and give him a chance but the level of deep talent on other teams is much better than Dallas'. Alex Fudge averaged like 6 points in college. Most of our older players on our roster are not even close to being NBA prospects.

For instance, I look at Boston's summer league roster (They have their late first and two second round picks on their roster) and their talent is way better. Queta was on a two way in sacramento but was picked up by Boston last year and was on the roster. I believe he will be on the roster again. Jaden Springer never hit yet but was a former first round pick. Killian Tillie was drafted by Memphis a few years ago. Injuries are one of the reasons that held him back. Drew Peterson fits the prototype teams are looking for. Ron Harper Jr and Ramsey were both good college players who will face an uphill battle. Their roster, with limited draft picks, is just so much better than the players dallas through out there.

But I probably would keep the bare minimum from this roster, so that means Omax only.  He doesn’t really look ready to play yet but has some potential and a rookie contract guarantee. I’ve been thinking the Mavs need another PG, but with Luka actually getting to heal and the lack of power forwards, I’m changing my mind. DJJ could slide over and play the 4. Naji won’t be able to do that. I thought Omax could get a few minutes, but he’s getting bullied in summer league and wouldn’t have a chance against bigger guys. Besides PJ and Maxi (and Luka, but who wants to do that), the Mavs don’t have a single guy who can man the 4.

Why can't Naji play the 4?  He is bigger and stronger than DJJ.  Defensively Luka is probably best suited to the 4 (you think its better to have him chasing around guards?).  I would argue that any two of PJ/Luka/Naji on the floor would be just fine as your forward rotation, especially with a legit center behind them.  That doesn't even account for Maxi and Omax.

Naji spent a lot of time at the 4 last year.  You are correct.  IMO he's an upgrade from DJJ, so glad we got him.

He can, obviously.

And, Luka IS a 4, at least on defense. I think there's cause for concern if Washington gets injured, but when healthy they have tons of options on how to put players on the court. Kleber wouldn't even be in the top 3-4 of who I'd think of at that position as the roster stands.

OMax's future is at the 3, big wing OG-ish. I really don't know if he'll develop into what he needs to be. Still only 2 games in, but I was more impressed with his last summer league. His sitting on an NBA bench for a season obviously didn't help his development. He needs to play 38mins/game on the Legends at the 3.

Well...I also agree that Omax's future is at 3, big wing OG-ish, and yes...38 minutes a game would be good.  But I also think it's time to get him some off beat training to stop some of that awkwardness.  Something like Dance, ballet, tai chi, yoga, dribble drills, vision skills, etc.  Omax has the body and motor to excel.  Does he have the mind? I don't know.  Hopefully he will show good improvement this year.  And then break out next year.

If not, then I guess it will be time to use him as trade bait...
