RE: Trade & FA 2024-25: - StrandedOnBeauboisHill - 02-02-2025 (02-02-2025, 10:57 AM)Smitty Wrote: “Anthony’s probably going to finish games at the five” - Nico Harrison My question is what is the plan once Lively is healthy. Finish games with PJ at the 3? Lively or PJ on the bench? You have your front court of the future already bringing you to the finals and THATS what you decide to shake up? Gotta assume there’s other moves but it’s crazy to make a trade this big that makes you worse now and for years to come. There’s like a chance to build an awesome defense for like maybe a two year window and then the wheels will falls off. RE: Trade & FA 2024-25: - SleepingHero - 02-02-2025 That’s why I think they are trading Lively. Why not just rip my heart out even more RE: Trade & FA 2024-25: - StrandedOnBeauboisHill - 02-02-2025 (02-02-2025, 12:49 PM)SleepingHero Wrote: That’s why I think they are trading Lively. Why not just rip my heart out even more PJ is my guess. He’s the one up for an extension after all which seems to be our primary concern now as a “basketball franchise”. RE: Trade & FA 2024-25: - Chicagojk - 02-02-2025 Nah I think they move Gafford and probably A guy like Marshall. Still it won’t matter RE: Trade & FA 2024-25: - SleepingHero - 02-02-2025 (02-02-2025, 12:52 PM)Chicagojk Wrote: Nah I think they move Gafford and probably A guy like Marshall. Still it won’t matter That’s good for 21 mil in contracts. Mavs can take up to 25 I think in such a trade using quick maths. No one really good at that number. Doesn’t matter anyways RE: Trade & FA 2024-25: - michaeltex - 02-02-2025 I would submit that Klay without Luka is a waste of cap space. The whole idea was Luka having the Gravity to get open 3s for Klay. Now that's gone, so why expect them to keep Klay around? RE: Trade & FA 2024-25: - Jym - 02-02-2025 RE: Trade & FA 2024-25: - Smitty - 02-02-2025 (02-02-2025, 12:52 PM)Chicagojk Wrote: Nah I think they move Gafford and probably A guy like Marshall. Still it won’t matter I’m guessing Grimes is on the move. Christie is cost controlled and sounds like a direct replacement for some of what Grimes provides. RE: Trade & FA 2024-25: - Chicagojk - 02-02-2025 (02-02-2025, 01:07 PM)Smitty Wrote: I’m guessing Grimes is on the move. Weird mix and match. AD can play 4, but is best as a closing 5. Lively is our present and future closing five. PJ is ideal for a PF with this team. Less so as a starting 3. Mavs are in a tricky spot though. Old, expensive and limited draft picks. Just great. There needs to be another move though. Although it just really doesn't impact our future. Even if this team gells and wins a series (doubtful), you just know there will be a lot of painful years ahead. RE: Trade & FA 2024-25: - KillerLeft - 02-02-2025 Welp, I guess PJW is currently the “backup 4,” so that’s crossed off of the to-do list. Sorry, too soon? RE: Trade & FA 2024-25: - SleepingHero - 02-02-2025 (02-02-2025, 01:38 PM)KillerLeft Wrote: Welp, I guess PJW is currently the “backup 4,” so that’s crossed off of the to-do list. It’s done bro. This team is cooked. Just awaiting the eventual Kyrie SnT for pennies on the dollar and AD asking out. Give it 12 months at most. During which the ceiling for them is the 1st round exit as a play in team. Meanwhile Luka is on his way to multiple rings. RE: Trade & FA 2024-25: - Chicagojk - 02-02-2025 (02-02-2025, 01:15 PM)SleepingHero Wrote: Christie literally cannot play basketball. Are you sure about that? I am really asking? I thought he was an interesting prospect but at Michigan state and early he looked the part and his shot looked good, but he just didn't make shots. He seems to be playing better this year. Not crazy about his contract and feels like a bench support player. Maybe Quientin Grimes type player. Mavs should have definately gotten 2031 back. That should have been madatory. I am pretty interested to see what the Lakers do. Do they mov for Rob Williams and/or Vucevic? The obviously need big defenders. They will also have a time to make a decision in Lebron in the future. Regardless, they have a much better chance to be playoff relevant moving forward today than they had yesterday. Get the super star first and then figure the rest out RE: Trade & FA 2024-25: - RoyTarpleysGhost - 02-02-2025 Press conference scheduled for 1pm https://www.youtube.com/live/t07sxvbeJ3E?si=Zm1te0jUUNoCE4F4 RE: Trade & FA 2024-25: - RoyTarpleysGhost - 02-02-2025 (02-02-2025, 01:07 PM)Smitty Wrote: I’m guessing Grimes is on the move. Imagine our reaction. Then imagine me going to a Laker board and saying, would you like Luka for AD and Christie? Maybe if you are nice we can have a first too. Maybe we can throw in a second round pick to make it more attractive? I know that is too much, but let us know your thoughts.
