Having Towns at center with Jalen and all their wings looks amazing. Come back to me though when Towns goes 3-15 in a playoff game. After thinking more about this, I am in the same spot. I think the fit, in theory, fits much better for NYK. Randle was an effective expiring contract who is going to look for an ALL NBA level contract. He is now an odd fit in NY. Clearly still good, but do you play him at small ball 5 at times and maybe closing games. That just seems odd. NYK signing him to a big contract also didn't seem like the best fit. Donte was great last year, but look at their roster now. His minutes appear to be going elsewhere. Plus, he is going to be looking for a new contract soon. He probably wants a contract that reflects his play from last year, not one where he is playing 24 minutes a night off the bench which may have been his role this year. On the other hand, The Wolves get off a scary looking contract. KAT always concerned me with injuries watching him run. He is not uncoordinated but just appears so. Sort of a lumbering runner. Sort of concerning as he is approaching 30. I do wonder if KAT can transition his role like KP did. Is he ready for that? Moving from a guy who thought he was a legit co-star to a role where he is sometimes the 5th best player and sometimes the second? But a guy who could be the wild card for a team being good vs great. RE: Trade & FA 2024-25: NYK Shopping Mitchell Robinson? - SleepingHero - 09-28-2024 NBACentral (@TheDunkCentral) The New York Knicks are taking calls on Mitchell Robinson, per @krispursiainen RE: Trade & FA 2024-25: NYK Shopping Mitchell Robinson? - Mavs2021 - 09-28-2024 (09-28-2024, 10:56 PM)SleepingHero Wrote: NBACentral (@TheDunkCentral) 53 minutes ago. It is actually insane how quiet and somewhat peaceful this summer has been. After 14 years of constantly trying, the Mavs actually landed a big name that had options in free agency. Not only that, but they seemingly upgraded across the board, got deeper, and stayed under the 1st apron. It's astonishing. We've barely had anything to complain about. I can't wait for the season to start. RE: Trade & FA 2024-25: NYK Shopping Mitchell Robinson? - Moviemavguy - 09-29-2024 Surprised at the lack of interest in Marcus Morris sr. He can at least provide good three point shooting at the 4 postition. He certainly is more of a contributor than the Morris we have who is nothing more than a bench morale guy. But he's not going to get major minutes, as a 3rd stringer. And when he plays these days, it's not a great result. Markief is the better 3rd stringer off the floor. He won't play much, but will have huge opportunity for contributing significantly off the floor. 2 AVAILABILITY Marcus did get a gig, or at least a chance at one. He is in a 3-way fight for 2 openings in NY. I don't think him being waived meant anything -- ie, I think their plan with him was to waive-and-resign, as they navigated the temporary need for a couple roster spaces to do a trade. He definitely has a bit more in the tank than the twin we have. The only issue this summer was roster spots. We basically filled our 1 end of bench vet min guy with Dinwiddie. I still think Marcus ends up on the Knicks after this KAT trade goes through. RE: Trade & FA 2024-25: NYK Shopping Mitchell Robinson? - Mavs2021 - 09-30-2024 You guys have STOCKOLD Syndrome. Didn´t we just make the NBA finals behind a youth movement. Now you want to add Marcus Morris after we already took a chance on Thompson and brought back Dinwiddie. I heard Derrick Rose retired. Maybe we give him a call, too. RE: Trade & FA 2024-25: NYK Shopping Mitchell Robinson? - MAVS-SLO - 09-30-2024 In my opinion there isn't reason in youth movement, but in roster construction. If we would want, we could sign Marcus Morris last season when he was FA for the playoffs, but we didn't. Morris still have some value as a bench player, but our FO office decided that Keef would get a that last roster spot, even if he maybe don't have such an value as a player, but as a teammate and a leadership role is on his side. Rose isn't good comparison. I would say, better comparison is Fultz who is still FA. Instead of Fultz, we signed Spencer, because of roles. Spencer can score, lead the 2 or a 3 unit, while we already have Exum and Grimes who play similar role as Fultz. In my opinion, looking at our roster now, it is ''full'' after a long, long time. Lively - Gafford - Powell PJ - Kleber - Omax Klay - Marshall - Keef Luka - Grimes - Hardy Kyrie - Dinwiddie - Exum In my opinion Kleber and Powell should be in the trade talks if opportunity arrises and i think we should be checking for a trade for a player on 4-3 (maybe you can add Grimes there for a salary match) , so then you can match a salary to around 20 mil. per season. Gafford trade for a player on 4-3 position would be good ![]() And then we can start talking about signing other players. Biyombo could replace Powell, Fultz could replace Grimes.. Agreed, the roster does look "full". C: Lively - Gafford - Powell PF: PJ - Kleber - Morris SF: Luka - Marshall - Omax SG: Klay - Grimes - Hardy PG: Kyrie - Dinwiddie - Exum I'm not trading Gafford or Grimes though. Part of why the roster looks "full" is because we have them. Trade options: Powell, Kleber, Morris, Hardy, Dinwiddie. RE: Trade & FA 2024-25: NYK Shopping Mitchell Robinson? - MAVS-SLO - 10-01-2024 I'm not trading Gafford either. Specially now when Luka tries to recruit him to Slovenia NT ![]() Powell, Kleber for sure. I added Grimes on the list just as a potential salary filler. Hardy maybe, doubt Spencer and Keff as a vet min. have any value. RE: Trade & FA 2024-25: NYK Shopping Mitchell Robinson? - michaeltex - 10-01-2024 (10-01-2024, 02:47 AM)MAVS-SLO Wrote: I'm not trading Gafford either. RE: Trade & FA 2024-25: NYK Shopping Mitchell Robinson? - SleepingHero - 10-02-2024 I guess we have to wait and see how the team looks and gels before we see what we're desperately missing. It's so weird to look at a Mavs roster and think "we're pretty balanced everywhere and not dying for any particular need" Basically haven't felt that way since 2011. There is an apparent logjam at the guard position. Spencer, Exum, Grimes, and Hardy all can get and deserve minutes. I remember earlier in the summer Killer was adamant that Hardy was going to be squeezed out. Kidd came out during training camp that he will get an opportunity. Feels like if anyone, Exum is probably going to ride the bench. Which is insane for me given he alone probably won the Mavs 4 games last season based of his play. I think Dinwiddie might return in his role as a 3rd guard and play as a pressure release ball handler. That neatly organizes the guard position with Exum/Hardy playing off each other, with Grimes/Dinwiddie playing up a position at the 3 if needed. Exum/Grimes/Dinwiddie could be a probable lineup. The defense isn't even that bad given Grimes+Exum can hold their own. |
