Game 14 Dirkie Thread: Cooper Flagg!...in a landslide...
Posted by: ballsrchr - 11-16-2025, 10:41 PM - Forum: Dallas Mavericks and the NBA - Replies (14)

Regardless of how we feel about the future of this team, the Dirkie thread is a celebration of how our players perform in games we win. In this game we had 7 players in double figures and another with 9. Aside from points there was also a host of good stats from nearly everybody. Let's not forget this is the second OT game. We won this one!

Gafford was instrumental. He put up a stout defense on the inside.
Klay Thompson came uncorked and finally put up some good numbers.
Max Christie continues to impress.
Naji Marshall had a down game, but still managed 9 important rebounds.
D'Angelo Russel struggled a bit, but still did mostly what a point guard needs to do.
Brandon Williams is still flashy fast. I'm sure someone will point out how I missed his good play, but it is what it is.

And to my Dirkie award winner: Well...if it wasn't for Flagg, it would be P.J. But Flagg was there, so my Dirkie goes to Cooper Flagg.

Here's a place for discussion/predictions about how this GM thing shakes out. Who do we think it will be? Do we think it will happen soon(ish), or over the off season? What type of attributes are we hoping to see out of the team's new leader?

I think it's a pretty exciting time to be a Mavs fan, all things considered, though not all the excitement is good excitement. I'm pretty worried they'll get this wrong.

Owning My Nico Support & Gump Was Right
Posted by: fifteenth - 11-11-2025, 02:58 PM - Forum: Dallas Mavericks and the NBA - Replies (16)

Hello, I supported Nico Harrison, and my name is Chad.

I advocated for the guy who ended up responding to our finals run by executing one of the worst trades in NBA history.

I just want to own that I cheered the Nico hiring and advocated for the possibility of him being a good GM. I specifically remember arguing with the esteemed Mr. Gump for a good chunk of time, claiming that a successful executive can switch industries, while Gump pointed out that a basketball expert would be better than a shoe salesman.

I like to own where I was wrong, but I also like to point out when others were right.

F Gump, you were right about Nico. It would have been better to hire a basketball GM than a shoe salesman.

BREAKING: The Dallas Mavericks and owner Patrick Dumont are expected to fire general manager Nico Harrison at a 10 am central time meeting on Tuesday, sources tell me and Tim MacMahon.

Game 10 Dirkie Thread: Naji Marshall--by a hair
Posted by: ballsrchr - 11-08-2025, 09:45 PM - Forum: Dallas Mavericks and the NBA - Replies (1)

I like wins better than Losses--thus the Dirkie Thread. In this game it looks like the accolades are spread out through the entire team...or at least most of the team. Since the wins have been few and far between I'm still getting my legs on posting stats. Not that it makes any difference. Normally it's points that carry the weight. Sometimes it's the whole body of work, such as that from P.J. Washington, and to a lesser extent--Cooper Flagg. The flash goes to the quickest and most daring on the floor--Brandon Williams. And sometimes it's the old work horse who brings the cart across the line.

Not to denigrate the play of any particular player, my choices are, in least to best order, are:

Cooper Flagg
Brandon Williams
P.J. Washington
And...Naji Marshall

My Dirkie goes to Naji.
