game or season?
Sucks to think that if McGee's 3 mins wouldn't have happened the Mavs would be within 6 points.

Serious question: do the Mavs still have someone whose job is to tell the coach stuff like this?
Only 3 attempts for Green.
Not that he is known to chuck, but I'd like that to increase next game.

You would think Sweeney would be there to keep Kidd from going off the deep end....but I don't know what to think.
awww harp, moral victories..the worst kind of victory
I turned the game on at halftime.  Third quarter was good.   Although, I didn't expect it to continue.   Sort of fits the season.  Mavs have a stretch of good play followed by long slumps combined with poor defense.  This isn't a good team right now.   I think they will get better but the expectations are clearly lowered.   High side is a play in dreams at the moment....and that is if things click.

Before Josh came in the fourth he had 16 minutes and Hardaway had 21 minutes.  That can't happen.   I view this as a audition for Hardaway tonight.  He failed.   Mavs need to consider giving his minutes to others.  Just can't have bad performance after bad performance.

Hated the isolation offense in the fourth but this team wasn't going to win.   You aren't going to win many games when the other team has Grayson Allen.

I was rooting for THJ to succeed, actually I want him to do good for his value to go up.
He was taking wide open 3s and still missing them.
As a fan, that's too painful to watch.
It's too obvious now, Green needs to take more of THJ's and RB's minutes.

As for talk of stretches of good play -- when a team is too reliant on 3 point shooting, that tends to happen.
Why are all our shooters in bad slumps getting wide open looks but Josh Green cant get one?

And dont tell me because teams are blanketing him.  Because when our shooters are not in slumps they get tons of wide open 3s.  But Green hasnt earned a few a game?

About what I thought. I don’t think Vegas or the general public have quite caught on to how deficient this team has become.

This bet was as good as cashed as soon as THJ was announced as the starter.
I missed the game tonight on purpose. Team just isn't fun to watch right now.

But weren't the Mavs 9-16 something at one point last season? Then they turned it around in a big way in the second half of the season. Can it happen again? Maybe it's better to have the bad games out of the way now rather than later.

Its been that way the past two years for sure maybe three.  I know two for sure.

We start the year looking like crap.  Everyone is griping and complaining and rightfully so.  Then the coaching staff allows the lineups to tighten up while also allowing some extra gear the team mysteriously didnt show the first half of the year.  The defense and the offense post All-Star break looks way more coordinated and organized.

Im sure we probably have the extra gear this year too.  But regardless if we dont lose another game and sweep every team in the playoffs for the Title...the complaints are valid and some of our roster needs to be turned.
Green is +81 and see's 19 MPG. Doubling up every other player. He is basically doing what Brunson did at the 20 games mark from the bench from an impact standpoint. I think Brunson was also leading early on in +/-. Green is obviously doing it in a way different way, but his minutes are beyond criminal. He has to start and play starters min (35 min a night) on the team and you have to see what happens.

Even when he takes no shots or scores he has a positive impact. Plays 22 min vs. Celtics goes 1-4 FG and still ends up +11. You gotta be blind to see that the team is usually playing well when he is on the floor. Ain't no coincidence that he had a postive +/- in 14 out of 19 games.

Last season Bullock/DFS were 1st and 2nd in +/- over the season with Brunson 3rd. DFS/Bullock also 1st 2nd in the playoffs. But right now, Green basically took over that glue role from both. And see's 20 min a night. And prolly has the most upside of on the team too. Apart from Hardy.

There was an impending improvement at that point from Luka's play.
Fat Luka was bound to disappear.
This season we started with MVP Luka.

And of course, we have JB back then.
Unless Green takes a HUGE leap, this team wouldn't replicate the same success they have last season.

NOTE: If a player only plays better towards the end of the season and not all year round, that player needs to be traded. There's no guarantee RB's shot would be better even if there's a trend for him proving this. Hoping he gets it together by the All-Star break isn't sound strategy.

16-18 was their low point.

That was after Luka started completely overweight and then missed 10 games.
Warriors coming in Tuesday and they look like they're getting their act together winning 3 straight. At least it's at home where they're 8-3.
In context it's hard to blame Luka but the game was effectively lost in the 3rd quarter when he clanked that technical free throw then proceeded to turn if over two straight possessions
Such a huge stretch. Lead was down to 4 points
