Okay, I was confused when I saw he signed another 10 day because I thought you could only sign two of them. Now it makes sense.

If we have a guy still in the protocols 10 days later I wouldn't be opposed to even giving him a 4th one though, the closer we get to the deadline the easier it might be to clear a space for him
I like what Chriss brings, but I'm seeing some noise about DAL having a chance at Miles Turner. Does that eliminate interest in Chriss?

I think we can have both. Especially since the outgoing for Turner would probably include a front court player or two.

I see Chriss as a Cauley-Stein / Moses Brown replacement and Turner would be a replacement for Maxi, Powell, or whoever they trade away.
I have liked what I have seen from Chriss.   It is still be determined if he is a foul magnet or if it is just because he is learning on the fly.   I am sure he is leaving all on the court trying to earn a spot, but there is a balance between being aggressive and fouling every two minutes.  At least from the eye test, he is clearly in front of Moses.   I am surprised how they came out and said they had no plans to release Moses.   It just seemed weird that was thrown out there.

Guaranteeing his deal through the year is different than guaranteeing he won't eventually be released if better options don't come to fruition. They're just keeping their options open, and the cost for that flexibility is low.

Great point.

One further note on the Mavs guaranteeing Moses, is that the Mavs didn't make a proactive move to give him a guaranteed salary for the rest of the year. They just kept him (rather than waiving him). I don't think there was anything announced, it just happened afaik. Him continuing to still be on the roster past a certain date resulted in his salary being guaranteed, and there was no choice to keep him with a non-guarantee.
Can Chriss play tonight, or does he have to wait until WCS clears waivers?

PS - nice job Nico.
Time to put up the cow apology thread related to WCS.

Glad they did this.  Maybe I'm being too harsh on the old regime, but I feel like they would not have identified Chriss as a good fit and would have instead spent much more time on a 34+ yr old vet to fill in OR if they had Chriss would have let him walk in order to keep the WCS contract for a trade that probably would never have happened.
I am pumped they kept Chriss.  We will see if he is anything more than a fringe rotation guy but he is the exact guy I have wanted us to take chances on along with Frank and a lesser extent Moses.

We all knew he was an explosive leaper but it was nice to see he still has it after his injury.   I am not sold on his jumper.  What I have been most impressed with is his rebounding, hands and feel for the game.   He really snatches the ball and when he gets his hand on the ball he typically keeps it.   He has also shown some pretty good hands so far.    Lastly, for jumping in a team mid season, he has had some nice awareness on the court as well.

He has been a bit of a foul magnet and that will need to improve if he is to get more minutes.    But it wouldn't surprise me if he is a 15 minute player even when everyone is healthy.   I like the low cost gamble.
WCS got waived for Chriss but it also means they would waive WCS for Moses.  SO good for both of those young guys.
