Can't read.

Can't discuss.
Can't read either. Fire the guy.
Some highlights:

Voulgaris, sitting with an open laptop in his typical courtside seat across from the Mavericks’ bench, motioned downward with his hands, which Doncic specifically interpreted as Voulgaris telling him to calm down, multiple team and league sources tell The Athletic. Doncic snapped back, telling Voulgaris, according to one source’s recollection, “Don’t fucking tell me to calm down.” The same sources say Voulgaris later professed that his motion wasn’t solely directed at Doncic, but regardless of intent, it only worsened an already inflamed relationship between the two.”

It was Voulgaris who initiated the team’s acquisitions of Seth Curry and Delon Wright, with multiple sources telling The Athletic that Voulgaris believed Wright should start next to Doncic. “He was the only person that believed that,” one team source says.”

Multiple league and team sources point to the 2020 draft as a particularly egregious example of Voulgaris’ power, an evening one source described as “embarrassing.” Most members of the scouting department joined the team’s war room remotely through Zoom and were surprised when Voulgaris, attending in person, didn’t consult them for either of the team’s first two selections (Josh Green and Tyrell Terry) despite disagreements they held with at least one of the players he picked.”

In mid-April, during the final minute of a home defeat to the New York Knicks, Voulgaris was seen on the game’s broadcast footage standing up and leaving with about 45 seconds remaining. While the Mavericks were trailing by 10 points at the time, they cut the deficit to six and extended the game seven more possessions before eventually losing. Doncic noticed Voulgaris’ early departure. In the locker room after the game, multiple league and team sources say he told teammates he viewed Voulgaris leaving before the game’s conclusion as him quitting on them. Voulgaris would not attend another game the rest of the year.“
Everything makes sense now. It's obvious this front office has had issues...you wouldn't even need to be an insider with the team because just the eyeball test would show that. So Cuban has had Voulgaris running the show, seemingly giving him even more power than Donnie and RC.

Cuban is horrible...this is his Jerry Jones crossroads moment. He can continue on this path and embrace being the next Jerry (without having the luxury of owning a premiere sports brand like the Cowboys)
Who is Voulgaris and how does he operate? Is he an analytics guy?

It sounds like he operates like a douche. I can’t believe Cuban gave this guy that much power. I guess now we know that the last two years weren’t Donnie‘s fault.

He was really good though on Game of Thrones.

No wonder they played so little.

Can we please have a do-over and take Saddiq?
When you have a pick anybody on this board could have made (S. Bey) but Mark put a moron in charge...
Anyone remember the draft broadcast of The Ringer, when Bill Simmons yelled watch the Mavs take Tyrell Terry at #31. Bill Simmons had relentlessly hyped him on The Ringer for a month: him and Luka will run the show forever. How can people be so stupid? The Mavs get it.

How did Voulgaris become famous as a basketball gambler? He made regular appearances on the BS Report podcast. Probably how Cuban learned about him, too. 100% Simmons knew from Voulgaris that the Mavs would take Terry, if he was there. Then you have the Mavs trade for broke-ass JJ Redick, who is on TheRinger podcast network. LOL.

When Simmons always shits on GMs and says he could do a better job. Guess he finally got his chance as the Mavs shadow GM. Bill Simmons is running the Mavs FO. I apologize to Donnie Nelson. I didn´t think it could get worse. Confused

Let´s be honest that Josh Green made no f****** sense at all. EVER. Saddiq Bey is EXACTLY 1000% the kind of player Donnie Nelson, Mark Cuban and Rick Carlisle would pick in that situation. College veteran and proven winner, basically a carbon-copy of Brunson, who was one of two successful picks for the Mavs in the last 15 years. Now the Mavs suddenly take this raw upside kid from Australia, who can´t shoot from anywhere on the floor?

At least it sounds like Luka or Duffy is getting that clown fired soon enough. Shy

After ALL the dumb shit from Nash to Championship Break-Up, to Odom, to Rudy, to Rondo, to Sarge, to Satnam, to both Dwights, to Matthews raise, to VAJ 1.0 and 2.0, to Redick/Melli, you´d think there would have to be an end at some point.

It never ceases to amaze what new crazy dumb shit Cuban can come up with. Hey listen guys, let´s keep making them fantasy trades. Maybe Cuban will make one of us the Mavs GM afterall. Big Grin Cool
Holy shit.

Reading that made me nauseous. Cuban's ownership has cratered since 2011. Dude won it all and now has no sense of drive or direction.

I guess the silver lining is that Donnie didn't make the draft choices of Green or Terry, and it was instead this fuckin shadow dude.

So incredibly frustrating

He is one of the greatest bettors in basketball and Cuban hired him.
Landing Seth is good move from him tbf
I doubt he is the one who traded the same guys he advised to get, and tbf Seth and Wright were better than what we traded  them for
I am glad this came out now...this franchise needs all the pressure this offseason as it is a make or break point for the franchise for maybe the next 10 years.

I am sure there is another side of the story, but it certainly appears their is a Voulgaris faction and a Donnie/Carlisle faction.   And Cuban may be the biggest issue of them all.   This front office has clearly looked out of whack for the past two offseasons.  Botched communication in trades, weird moves, near misses, poor decisions on guys they didn't even get, etc.

This needs all the exposure it can get.  The Mavs either fix this now, or we turn into the Timberwolves soon.   It is already late too....as far as roster development.  They have wasted several opportunities.

If drastic changes are not made than I view this as a bad direction.   Revamping is needed....Cuban included.

Hey look, we agree on something!!  Big Grin  Of course that would only happen when the Mavs do something that sucks this bad.  Cry

I vote a Dan/Gump/Killer trinity with Kam as the analytics guy that feeds them ideas

One thing that Cuban hates more than others is bad press. Dude loves his image as a cool owner that's hip and with it. If he's seen as a buffoon running a circus he'll be motivated to make changes fast.

At least I hope so...

My confidence in Cuban has never been lower. Dude is still basking in his lone championship as it's an timeless validation medal for his way of thinking.
Those same sources add that Voulgaris has frequently gone as far as scripting the starting lineups and rotations for longtime head coach Rick Carlisle.

Cuban was won over by Voulgaris’ vision: an analytics-driven spread pick-and-roll offense with Doncic as the focal point which he has tried implementing in the past seasons.

Multiple team sources confirm Voulgaris remained involved in the team’s gameplans and in-game adjustments in a remote role.

If true, the guy's involvement extended beyond the front office and into coaching decisions.
