Larry plays like a vet. That will earn him actual minutes.

Believed in Larry since the first game.
I am The President of the Larry fan club.

But since I can't be on this board most of the time, I'm willing to step down and be assigned as VP.
Like I said a few posts back, at the later part of this season, Larry wouldn't be too far behind in terms of value and production with all the top guards taken in the top 10.

Just saw the highlights (I just can't sit through an entire SL Game).  I think several of us may have to amend our depth charts.  I had him behind Christie at the two as a secondary creater with Sasser at the point behind Kyrie.  It may be the other way around with Sasser as the 3&D secondry creator and Larry at the point.

If Tarik is a find in the same league as Larry and Ish this is a top tier offseason. Plus we also have not seen Santi or Sasser play yet.

Cooper Kyrie Max Lively and PJ is going to be backed up by some promising players some of whom could become starters sooner than we think.

Who will eventually become the starter at PF Morez or Santi? SF is Cooper's and for now PG is Kyrie's.

Starting SG could pass from Max to Tarik if he shoots better and adds more volume.

Center is a conundrum since we have Lively who is not even healthy enough to play yet and it seems Gafford is an older slightly bulkier Morez with no outside shot. Cisse brings a level of defensive talent worthy of mention and even Santi can take a shot at playing center. Morez could develop into a stretch 4/5 just like Santi. Seems to me like center and PF are both in good shape.

I will say our roster is ready for prime time and if it improves from here it is an all time great offseason.

PG Kyrie Sergio Sasser
SG Max Tarik Martin
SF Cooper Ishchenko Naji
PF Santi Morez PJ
C Lively Gafford Cisse
depending on who is healthy that day.
Two ways: John Tyler Lawal
Trade block: Klay Martin PJ Gafford finding a home for Klay should be easy but Martins contract is hot garbage. PJ and Gafford may be more likely to get traded around the TDL.
Gets cut even though he has a contract: Ryan
Guys Id consider signing if we had space: Green Jr.

What I love about Larry is the ball does not linger with him.
He would pass it, just so the ball move around.
Dude is unselfish.

I hope Ish sticks around.
Dude is almost as tall as Morez and yet has better handles than Max.
Needs to work on his finishing though. But he already has a lot going for him, size, mobility, awareness, defense and a bit of passing chops.

What I loved was the toughness, especially by Ish, to go against Boozer and hold his own defensively while being severely undersized.

Could become the heir to Dwight Powell‘s face the way he sticks his nose in there.

His finishing around the rim is really bad, I hope that’s kind of the normal jitters playing in a much faster game, that he’s rushing his shots.

De Larrea is a gamer, you can see that he played in highly competitive games and gas that edge in him to embrace those moments and not duck away - great attribute.

And I‘m with you Nembhard not playing was addition by substraction. Was a nice win against a super strong opponent talent wise!

Yeah his finishes at the rim were Jaden Hardy like, but his ability to get by everybody really stood out. I can see why some reports had him at 6´3. He moves past guys like a guard at the length of a SF.

De Larrea is probably a SG/secondary playmaker at the moment due to his loose handles. Maybe they can fix it. Struggled a bit to bring up the ball against the full court press, but his passing, especially out of the PnR is absolutely elite.

So I did not watch last nights games and only saw like around 1.5 of the first two games and I wasn't watching that closely.   I did see Sergio's highlights (BTW why are people calling him Larry?").   The passing instincts are great.   Love seeing a big like KAO be elevated by his passing.    Really nice highlights.

The Russian needs a lot of work but man he is interesting.   He has good height and looks comfortable with the ball in his hands.   Then supposedly he is a pest on defense?  Yes, please.   It will be interesting to see what their developmental path for him will be.   I am personally not a huge fan of the G-League being great developmental step despite it being a good league filled with a lot of good players.

Tyler Smith with a DNP-CD.  Could be nothing or could be something.

Seems like De Larrea is coming around, his best performance so far. His vision and passing are amazing! Other than that, more of the same: Ischenko looks interesting but I am not sure how much is there. Poulakidas plays himself out of the league like this.

Yeah Maybe with Sergio.  It certainly feels like the team favors size and positional flexiblity.  They also appear to want to build a team with players who can mostly all handle the ball and make quick decisions.   I hope that is the offense they are trying to build.  I think that is probably the best place for Sergio to develop in too.

I have watched all 3 games so here is my guesses on who will or should make the 18 man roster and those that won't or shouldn't be on it.

1 John Poulakidas won't make the team, not just for for the fact he hasn't been making his 3s, it is more for the fact he can't even get open to take any shot. He is a spot up shooter that needs some space and I think will make some teams roster, just not here.

9 Ryan Nembhard help the team by missing the game for illness or whatever, but his slow paced dribble till the shot clock runs down and he just isn't big enough to see over or pass over the other team and can't guard anyone.  I do imagine he can be thrown into a trade and some teams will be looking for a small salary player that fits their team.

13 Vsevolad Ishchenko will or should make the team, to start probably as a 2 way, his handles are amazing for someone 6 8 with long arms and other than finishing hard at the rim and not looking for his shot first he has shot at being a starter in a couple of years.  He is really good on defense, he was guarding Booker a lot of the time and he really slowed him down with his quickness and length.  Booker used his mass a couple of times to move him for a shot but there were many more times he slowed him down and allowed one or two other really long defenders to put a roof over his head and the blocked his attempts at shots a number of times and forced him to pass out at times.  He is one of the new group that can defend all five positions on switches with quickness and length.

14  Morez Johnson didn't play but he as already shown he will be playing a lot, but last night without him, it allowed some of the others to shine and that maybe he needs to stop helping out so often so the other teams don't get the rebound or easy shot.

23  Tyler Smith won't be back, to many of the new crowd just bet and with more upside.

26 Darin Green got onto the radar last night with his play and making 3s, very long shot to make Mavs unless they package a lot of players going out, but could be on the Legends this season.

29 Springer had his best game but he won't make the Mavs

33  Tobi Lawal, he started but I really don't remember him doing anything good or bad, so for me a ?.

42 Kaodinichi Akobundi-Ehiogu has to make the team just so we can hear Followill call out his name in games, he will be one of his top 10 names to say, but other than that the kid can fly and when Sergio passes a perfect lob from 15 feet out it is magical.  He defends well and effort is there. I think he will or should make the Mavs top 18 and another reason why I think they well make several more moves to clear space these players that feels like great fits to play with Flagg for years to come.

45 Jorge Diaz Graham is one of the reason that Cisse won't be on the team, he just has way more skills and can actually catch the ball, dribble the ball and even make 3s, I see him playing the five most of the time, but could play the 4.

55  Sergio De Larrea (Larry) I assume that is why he is called Larry by some, but a star may have been born last night, the whole team just worked when he was a the point and  some of the people complaining about his handles and but really his passing and feel for the game and with his size he can make lobs look easy and I can just see him getting several dimes to Flagg at the time every game.  You know that many experts didn't think Luka would make out because of being slow, can't jump, well this kid can play the game.  Larry, will be a star, if not super star in a few years.

Cisse is much like OMax was 2 or 3 years ago, with unbelievable energy and hops but totally no IQ for the game and needs several more years to develop and learn the game.  I suppose he still as a shot at a two way to start the season, since Lively sure doesn't look ready to even play before Christmas and you don't expect him to play heavy minutes this year.

I think most would agree that Klay won't be on the roster next year and they would like to move him now.  Nemby really doesn't seem to fit with all the new guys, Martin will be gone as soon as they can find a taker, thought that may take awhile.  PJW, Marshall and Gafford, I  don't see all of them finishing the season with the Mavs, but I  don't see the FO rushing just to make a deal.  I also wonder about Max, his handles aren't that great and I think he has value in a trade.  I think the one thing that makes guessing about this years team is that I don't know their timeline on being good and being a great team, There is a lot of outstanding young talent on this team, but they will need a year or two to develop, do they take some learning time lose now for big upside or cut them for wins this season.  I know all won't turnout to be great, but they appear to have a much higher ceiling than say Naji and Max.

I don’t knows let’s see in 3-5 years. Boozer might struggle more in the league than most think.

The same thoughts crossed my mind yesterday - he couldn’t overpower our all skinny lineup and Ish gave him fits. If he doesn’t get stronger he must become a lethal outside shooter to be a consistent scorer.
