Interesting decision. This gives Lakers another movable contract, probably positive value despite his relatively bad season.

My reaction was just the opposite - handcuffs them even more. That's like seeing JRich as good news for the Mavs as a "movable contract," even though the cap room situations are much different for the two teams.

Two thoughts:

-His star has fallen mightily.
-I wonder if a JRich for MH swap would be attractive for both teams if they both decide to opt in.

Josh Green is a top 5 Mavs player...

I don't see it at all, unless Mavs move at least one of Powell or KP. We already have way too much money tied in the center position

Makes all the sense in the world that they want to use CJ for someone better, but who is available on the trade market that is better?  We know Simmons is on the block but I just don't see that as the championship move.  Beal?  Save for this year, they do own all their FRPs.

They desperately need a defense playing big wing and have all the picks after this draft. Simmons, Siakam and perhaps Grant are realistic options imho. I think Siakam might be interesting. But they need to resign Powell to be able to afford to lose CJ

I guess I would go with whoever is least expensive of that list.  I don't think any of those guys would vault them into true contention and I want to spend as little future draft compensation as possible, as I think they've got Dame for a year or two more.  That's probably Grant or Siakam.  We haven't heard any rumors about Grant be shopped, have we?

I honestly like Harrell. He's that high energy dude that would thrive next to Luka. His defense is so bad though. I suppose if we moved off of Powell then he'd make sense, if not then I can't see why the Mavs would target him.

I would rather use JRich to swap for Oladipo instead.

EDIT: Just read F Gump's breakdown on any potential SnT with Dipo and it doesn't really fit in any swap for JRich. So the journey in finding a suitable JRich deal continues.

Powell and KP are sunk costs and the team still needs help at the position.  I'm not saying it is the first call I'd make, but I don't hate the idea of MH.  Luka might though.

I could never stomach Harrell in a Mavs uniform. Fuck him forever for being a racist little bitch to Luka. He’s probably my third least favorite player in the league right behind LeBron and KD. I’d take rondo back before bringing him in.

Brook Lopez done it at the age of 28 too, but he had better touch and FT shooting ability

KD must be a really difficult person in the lockerroom...

They can join in Dallas. I wish Mavs would be able to think that big and out of the box. It don't seem Mavs are capable of thinking how to bring 50 mil worth of free agents without having 70 mil of cap space. At least.

Short of one or both of them taking ridiculous pay cuts, there’s not actually any way for the Lakers to make that happen is there?
