Which makes sense
I don't think I would give up the 14th pick for KP in his current form

Tbh, I'm not sure they'd even give up Wiggins for KP in his current form. If they think he's about to improve in some major way, like some folks here, then sure. That's a big gamble for any team to take though.

GSW negotiating through the media again.  That's fine, I will keep him.

KP Island will look like this midseason.

IT's a little thing but the Euro move is a crossover while Shamgod is doing it same side. Both Shamgod's and Bodiroga's moves were a variant of Tim Hardaway's set up to his crossover. Basically Shamgod sets up and finishes on the same side, while Bodiroga and the Slavs incorporate the crossover.

That's what it looks like now. It's just that there are no tourists coming anymore and the hotel/resort owners are wondering how they'll keep the lights on for another year.

This may not be a total indication of KP's value ....as value is different team to team.....but DAMN I think it possibly indicates that KP's value is basically nothing right now around the league.

FWIW, Stein being used for negotiation by GSW seems really unlikely here.

Not the end of the world, especially for those who don't like either the Wiggins or Oubre angles. There's nothing else that could possibly come from GS that Cuban and co. might want. Personally, I'd take Wiggins for KP in a heartbeat, but I don't blame some for not being into that idea. I'm not sure GS would see that as a dunk of a deal though.

I don't buy for one second that the Mavs are about to be in the "trading for high picks" business just because Donnie Nelson and/or Rick Carlisle is gone.

Maybe, maybe not.

To me the most telling thing about the quote from Stein is that GSW has basically no interest in KP. We speculated that his value might be highest with someone like GSW. If they don't want him, then it is hard to imagine there are many (any?) that do.

I never bought into the GS angle, personally. They're trying to be good, and they know how to be good.

My hope for a KP destination would be the type of team who could never get a big-name guy in a thousand years without drafting him. If one of those teams deluded themselves into taking a chance on him, that could be interesting. Teams like (examples of team type, not specific need for KP) Sacramento, Minnesota, Charlotte, etc.

GSW has their eyes for top end talent and they certainly have the assets to pull it of. If you are Washington getting Wiseman and two lottery picks (plus future assets) should sound as something to think about.

This plus retaining THJ and pursuing free agents through sign-and-trades… yup. Plan A. ?

I agree. Sacramento, Charlotte or Orlando. Teams that are either desperate to make a splash or have the time to take a chance and not be destroyed, if his knees bust completely. The question is simply whether the Mavs would lower themselves to accept the offers these teams would make to get out of the long-term money and the injury risk.

Hield/Bagley
Harris/Bamba + RJ Hampton (if lucky) or #33
Rozier + #11

I´d actually like the 3rd trade the most.

Rozier + Mitchell are a great fit as backcourt partners for Luka and it opens enough money to make signficant front court moves right now, but also ties up no long-term money. Alperen Sengun or Jalen Johnson also good options here.

The Orlando trade would depend on multiple factors. Do I believe in Mo Bamba as a basketball player, cause he´ll be a RFA in 12 months and what do his medicals look like? Can I get RJ Hampton could also make or break the deal for me.

With the first trade it´s basically the same questions as in the Orlando deal, only Bagley instead of Bamba.

Though to be honest I´d be shocked, if Nico/Kidd could push such deals past Cuban. I´m sadly pretty sure, he´ll once again dig his short-term heels in and refuse any deals that he does perceive as immediate talent downgrades.

It´s amazing Cuban had the vision to sell this internet radio idea at the right moment, but he can´t visualize any Mavs plans that go further into the future than next season. Wink
