Bet they regret signing Barnes to that deal, now.  I mean Bagley being out, hurts but what changed with them, besides they hired Walton?  They almost made the playoffs last year.

It´s actually 10 teams depending on how you feel about the Suns. And I don´t think you can ignore that they were four points away from being 5-0 against the toughest(?) schedule in the league so far.

Believe me, I can quite easily.

 I mean, they're 1 game better than their 2-3 start after the first 5 games last year, in which they went on to win 19 games on the season.    If you have a team with a long history of futility and you didn't add any high caliber talent to the roster over the offseason, you're going to give me more than a slightly better than .500 record after a 5 game sample before I'm ready to drink the Kool Aid.;

GSW is done. Best for them to go full tank mode, get a high pick, come back healthy next year and try to dominate again.

Early coach change alert: Sacramento and Chicago. Both teams were hoping for play-offs but started absolutely terrible, even against some of the worst teams. Chicago managed to lose against Cleveland, Charlotte and New York. Sacramento had tougher schedule, but there are ne excuses for a 15 point loss against Charlotte.

In the west, I would say GSW, Sacramento, Memphis and OKC can be considered as out of play-off picture this season. I wouldn't write off Pelicans this early. They have bad defense despite having some great defenders.

Even without Pels there are still 10 teams fighting for that 8 spots. Phoenix looks good - it really does wonders when you add a very tough fighter like Baynes.

This is just bad for the game. I have no idea why he (and just he) gets so many whistles. Just look at the winning FT against Washington. Basically no contact for game winning shot - Luka didn't get a whistle with similar layup against Denver.

I mentioned in the DEN game thread but Jokic looks really overweight.
He's shooting less, for worse percentage, fouling & turning it over more. Still a load inside but just seems out of shape. Maybe fat & happy.

Really, I'm fine with the whole Rocket's schtick because I know how it's going to end in the playoffs, because we've seen it over and over.  The Refs are going to swallow their whistles and allow teams to play playoff brand basketball, and Harden is suddenly start complaining that he's not getting the whistle's he's accustomed to and regress into sulking.     Westbrook is going to lose his mind when the pressure is on and start jacking up low efficient volume shots while the rest of the team just stands around confused/frustrated.    Let their fans and Morey get their hopes up as high as possible in the regular season.   It makes it that much more enjoyable when the rug gets pulled out.

As injuries go, a clean break like that is quite trivial to recover from. I have no doubt that Curry CAN come back in January or late December, but the question is why?? If the Warriors are 12-24 (which is generous) heading into January, they are essentially out of the race for sure by then. Even if Curry came back, this Warriors team is so thin that it doesn't move the needle.

Why risk another injury to your franchise superstar in a meaningless year with Klay out and no bench? If god forbid Curry got injured in March and its a big enough injury to keep him out next season, then that season is wasted too.

Let's not forget they were a dumpster fire before Curry left the game. It's not going to make much of a difference and for once, we're going to see exactly how much of a coach Kerr actually is.

Exactly!  Russ carried his team after KD left with pretty bad (that year) rookie Sabonis, injured Alodipo, younger Adams and a non scoring Roberson.

Lets examine Curry before injury:

Mavs are almost a lock now to make the playoffs. Warriors dynasty is over

Incredible. What awful luck for the Warriors. Not even 5 games in and Curry is done for the year. Sucks because Curry is one of the most exciting players to watch.

But I definitely think this kills the Warriors playoff chances.

HOU
DEN
UTA
POR
LAC

3 spots up for the taking. Lakers, Mavericks, Wolves, Spurs are the contenders.

Lakers are a lock.  They're better than Portland.

It's 5 games dude.  No sane person thinks Westbrick is better than Steph.  OKCThunderAlex is not a bright guy bringing up analytics after 5 games.

After 5 games you can form a hypothesis that you can test on more data.

5 games data still have a value. Obviously it is to be taken with a grain of salt.

Stats are always valuable as long as you know how to interpret them.

wut? did you get that from a fortune cookie?

Luka is shooting 28.6% from three.  Should I say he is a terrible 3pt shooter?

I generally like the Thunder guy but I dont understand why he posts senseless Thunder fan twitter stuff on a Mavs board.  A guy referencing analytics after posting a 5 game sample doesn't need additional views.

You guys are going to see what I've been talking about the past few years. I like Steph and the guys but Kerr is not that good of a coach. He got so much praise for coaching that group. But, they basically have coached themselves. Sure, he set them up for more ball movement and all that. But, overall he's just not much of a coach. Not nearly as good as Rick. Now we'll see what Kerr does without talent and what Rick does with it.

Harry Giles? Interesting

In the meantime, Miami found a gem in Kendrick Nunn
