Shams: Nico to be fired today!

As for what Nico Harrison's dismissal means for Anthony Davis' future in Dallas: Sources tell @TheSteinLine and @DLLS_Sports that Davis' agent Rich Paul has established a strong relationship with Mavericks owner Patrick Dumont since February's trade. They are in regular contact.

I'd just like to point out that Klutch client De'Aaron Fox is trade eligible on 2/4...the day before the trade deadline.

Would that be a 3 team trade of some sort if it were to happen?

I was reading today that Nico and Dumont had a disagreement over Nico wanting to bring AD back sooner than the Mavs medical staff advised. Dumont made the decision to rest AD. I wonder if this had to do with him anticipating firing Nico and a possible trade or unrelated and just didn't want AD to get hurt again quickly from rushing him back.

Plus he makes all our players better instantly like Luka did. Too many guys can't score now without Luka being hounded.

Was it the Mavs organization or Luka making guys better three point shooters?  Ja is a career 31% career three point shooter and what he shot last year (he is 15% so far this year).  I don't expect the Mavs org to make miracles.  I seemed to remember back when they were good that they actually had a better record when he was not playing, but that was a while ago.

That's a fair question. This goes back to the Dirk days, but Dirk was an all time great player too so same point stands.

You guys are the worst.

Clearly Desmond Bane has more value than AD.  ;/

Their biggest asset is the 1st round pick in the upcoming draft. The goal should be to maximize that by biting the bullet and finishing the season with a bottom 3 record. After bringing im another young lottery player this whole franchise can look promosing again rather quickly thanks to Flagg already being here. If they play their cards right that could be our version of Tatum / Brown in Boston.

And then you can still turn one or both of Kyrie / AD into all kinds of draft picks / other young guys who will align with Flagg and the 2026 draftee.

That’s what? 70+ games of being terrible? I‘d certainly aim at that and then try to compete with Flagg, the 2026 draftee and hopefully some of the younger guys can stick around throughout the loooong period where they don’t controle their own draft pick.

_______________

One more thing.

I wanted to post it during darker times to lighten up the mood but I guess it fits well right now anyways:

It will happen. Another blonde, tall, talented PF/C FROM WÜRZBURG will enter the NBA via the draft in a couple of years. It’s not a joke. He‘s called Hannes Steinbach and is widely regarded as one of the best players in his age class in Europe. Already highly decorated at FIBA youth tournaments, played in the german first division and has now crossed over to play college basketball for Washington.

If one of the picks we can get for AD lands us that guy it would be the ultimate feel good story. Talent-wise he‘s probably a late lottery to late 1st round guy. I don’t know much about him but that would be a fun story and reminder of better days.

If I'm Dumont, I use this as an opportunity to change my image with the fanbase...whether genuine or not. I'd start wearing Mavs gear at all home games like Cuban and then even hire some "fans" inside the arena to chant "Thank you Patrick" or "Thank you Dumont"

If I found out he paid fans to chant "Thank you Dumont" I would automatically hate him.

I hope they do a reset.  My recommendation be more open and kind.    NBA is a cut thoat business and a lot of teams don't like sharing, so I understand not talking to the media.  Dallas is past this.  I am not asking for them to reveal state secrets but don't make everything a secret and show a human side to the fanbase.   A few local interviews, some giving back to the fans, etc.

We are weaks into the season and when Kidd is asked about Exum he gives a no comment.  WTF?   Just be kind...it doesn't take much but it will pay dividends.

I'm assuming that at some point AD actually has to play?

I wonder if the NBAs latest gambling scandal has made Dumont's prospects of getting the team relocated to Vegas unlikely and forced him to try and engage with a fan base that he couldn't have cared less about a few months ago.

The good news is that it will be easy to find out if that happens as no fan would ever do that in the first place.

It sounds like you are talking about the 26-27 season. But the Mavs not having a 2027 pick does not force them to win - it just removes the incentive for losing.

- No, I don't think the Mavs should be in a rush to trade AD. I'd let the market be the market. Assuming someone qualified like Lindsey comes in, let him determine what he thinks AD's fair market value should be. Not a fire sale price, but what dealing him is worth. Entertain offers that are within 90% of that price, otherwise, hold.

- I DO think AD is dealt prior to the trade deadline within those conditions.

- I fully expect AD to be dealt to an East team. Again, this season is SO WIDE OPEN in the East that a GM could land him an immediately slingshot to a Finals run, while great 55+ win West teams aren't even guaranteed a first round series win. There are a number of East GMs who could parlay a Finals run into a longterm contract.

Teams like Charlotte, Atlanta and Chicago could make a serious run. I think the Hawks could easily parlay that gift of a Pelicans swap (plus other assets) into AD because there's no guarantee that pick turns into something great. Sure, it could land top 3, but if could just as easily hit 8.

I would take that pick and two future unprotected 1sts along with KP and Kennard's expiring deals while they also eat Martin into one of their TPEs.

Going into the off-season it would clear major cap space while also potentially having two blue chip lottery picks.
