RE: HALLELUKA: All Things Doncic - burekemde - 02-11-2022 Luka would have got 100 if not doubled from 2nd quarter until end of the game. RE: HALLELUKA: All Things Doncic - dirkfansince1998 - 02-11-2022 For all the advanced stats fans and +/- nerds like me. Luka is officially a positive in on/off (+0.2 per 100). Luka is officially a positive in on/off (+0.2 per 100). In the last 15 games he is +24.6 Net On/Off.... +19.6 O, +5.0 D There is some noise obviously, but overall when he plays like a superstar, his On/Off is like a superstar. When he isn't his best self, the On/Off reveals that as well. Luka is playing like a superstar right now. We are not shooting 20% from 3 any longer, but actually shooting average numbers. Luka then gets more assists, the paint then does not longer clog because defenses actually need to worry about guys like DFS and Bullock on the outside and sit less tightly. Luka then sees many single teams at the moment in the paint, at least in start of the games, something that never happened early in season when nobody could make a shot from outside. Luka then is able to attack the paint. The team harmony restored once Bullock and DFS and Maxi and lately also Brunson started to make these open shots. The key for the team is to make the open shots outside. When that happens, all other aspects of Lukas game are open. When not, then defenses can clog the paint and result is different and so are the stats. Mavs also stopped playing those "makes no sense" KP-Powell line-ups. Could the Mavs been playing 3 D chess? Maybe start the year and thinking if KP was going to work here it needed to be at PF. Once that failed, they knew they would have to move him but put him at C to increase his value only to see him get hurt again? Probably not. But the whole KP and Powell lineup to start the season felt like a lost cause right away. It only came out when he actually came here during Omicron. Makes me wonder if they knew they would do something like this and needed a body behind Powell and Maxi once KP was gone. WCS was out for a long time, so it might have more to do with that. In any case, moving KP shouldn't be a TDL decision. If it was, than this team is in even more trouble than we think. Such a thing should be decided well in advance and executed accordingly with a clear strategy in mind. It sure does feel as if it was decided in a heat of the moment, taking whatever was available. I don't know if I agree here. The more I hear/read, the more I get the sense that: 1) they wanted to move off of KP's contract as a sideways move to setup a ton of roster change in the near future (which sounds great to me now that DFS's role is secure, lol). Clearly, trading KP had to have been among the first ideas on how to do this that came to their minds, so I'd guess they've been discussing scenarios like this one since the ink on Harrison's contract was still wet. and 2) Believe it or not, I really think they wanted another shot creator and another shooter, somehow, some way, and I really think they decided Dinwiddie/Bertans represented the best opportunity to add both. In other words, I truly think they believe this makes the immediate team a little better. Obviously, we don't have to agree. In complete and 100% agreement here. Miami played that way that it was impossible for Luka to get assists and score. He was doubled each play. But Luka made the right reads, especially adjusting to the new looks Miami gave him in the second half, and redistributed the ball that lead to the hockey assists. That lead to the win. Luka always adjusts. |
