Wingspan is an awesome thing. I just like it better when it's associated with a skilled basketball player.

I know you do, too. Just saying.

I think they're just doing their homework for summer league. I can't imagine them making a trade into the draft unless they're working out those prospects in secret.

The only dude that might require a pick is Vrenz, and he's still projected to be a late 2nd rounder where the Mavs can buy one there.

Yep,  I haven't been really impressed with any of the names they have brought in.  It must be really difficult to get people to visit when you have no picks though.

I do think it may be easier to buy a pick, if you want, due to a lot of the foreign guys who backed out of the draft who were billed as draft and stash second round picks.    Quite a few of those guys took their name out of the draft.

I agree it is likely Mavs didn't really host any top draft talent. But there are other ways to check it. They were at combine, there were open workouts by other teams open for all.

I am sure it would be no problem to buy a pick. Question is if they even want to or just keep the four guys from last season.

Depending on other roster decisions I wouldn´t be suprised if one out of Bey/Hinton gets a guaranteed deal. That would free one two-way spot.

RE: 2021 NBA DRAFT: July 29, 7 pm - Chicagojk - 07-23-2021

I do believe there is value in the second round.    One of the value positions I see is the center position.   They tend to fall a little on draft day in today's game...especially when they are upperclassmen.   I will have some wing names that I like, but here are the centers I like.   Some of these guys I would want to buy a pick on and the others are undrafted guys.    I am not saying they will go undrafted, but if they do go undrafted I would have an interest in them as an UDFA.

I would prefer a rim running center, but there are a few guys who provide different skills who interest me.

For most of these guys I have only seen highlights so it is really tricky to go all in on these guys.

1) Charles Bassey-   I see an athletic rim runner.    He played college ball for three years but he looks the part.   I would buy a pick for him in he was there in the mid second.

2) Neemias Queta-  Another guy who is an athletic big.  He provides better passing than Bassey.   I would also buy a pick for him as well.

3)  Jericho Sims-  He was a guy I highlighted a while ago when it looked like he would not be drafted.  Since then he has had a nice offseason and appears to be a draftable player now.   He is really athletic and I think has some untapped upside despite being a senior.  Not sure I would buy a pick for him, but he is definitely a name to watch.

4)  Isaiah Todd-  I expect some team to gamble on his youth plus skill in the early second.   He would be hard to get to that range.  If he fell into the mid 40's though, he would definitely be high on my list.

5) Sandro Mamukelashvili-  He has a really unique game.  He is a fabulous passer and does not look or move like a guy who is 6'11".   He has the name but if he played in some second division german league, he would probably go 15-20 picks higher.  He would be an UDFA target of mine.

6)  Luke Garza-  I have real doubts if he is an NBA player.   Although he would be fun to watch play in the G-League.  He can really shoot and would really be a handful in the post and on the boards if he got a smaller player on him.  Defense is where I have not idea how he makes it.   But he has gotten slimmer this offseason and maybe he finds a role.   He would be an UDFA for me.

I think with todays game at least three of these guys goes undrafted.  The top 4 on my list probably gets drafted, but maybe one slips due to age.

Feron Hunt working out for Dallas today.   His stats look pretty average but his highlight videos look good.  Undrafted candidate.

His highlights make him look like a Derrick Jones Jr starter kit.  A little older than when Jones entered the league though.

No idea how, but acquiring this player should now be the priority.

Get it done, Nico.

Ah remember a couple of pages back when I said Cade doesn't appear to me as much of a slam dunk as consensus makes him out to be?  Yeah well forget all that. He's going to be a superstar.

Love Cade.

Quote:The Sixers have had discussions about moving the No. 28 pick in the 2021 NBA draft and are open to trading that selection in a deal for future assets or a veteran contributor, writes Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Kyle Neubeck of PhillyVoice.com, who first reported that the 76ers were exploring trading their first-round selection, hears from a source that there’s a “very good chance” the pick is on the move on or before draft night. Philadelphia’s goal, Neubeck notes, is to add another starter-level player to its rotation, so even if the team trades No. 28 for future assets, it may look to flip those assets for a veteran.

Although the Sixers could be a taxpayer in 2021/22 and the No. 28 pick would give them the opportunity to add an inexpensive young player to the roster, the team feels it doesn’t have a ton of extra “developmental reps” to offer, says Neubeck. Tyrese Maxey, Matisse Thybulle, Paul Reed, and Isaiah Joe are among the young players who will be competing for rotation minutes next season.

Still, the 76ers continue to take a closer look at players who could be options at No. 28, in case they hang onto the pick. Pompey reports that Arizona State wing Josh Christopher, who ranks 33rd on ESPN’s big board, recently visited and worked out for the team.

If the Sixers do move the No. 28 pick, it won’t necessarily be involved in or related to a Ben Simmons trade, according to Neubeck, who says nothing much has changed on that front.

Philadelphia continues to set a high asking price in discussions involving Simmons and isn’t interested in trading him for a package made up of role players and draft assets. For instance, Neubeck says the Sixers wouldn’t be interested in dealing with the Kings if De’Aaron Fox wasn’t included in Sacramento’s offer. If the 76ers stick to that stance, it’s probably safe to assume Simmons won’t be a King.

RE: 2021 NBA DRAFT: July 29, 7 pm - SleepingHero - 07-24-2021

If I had the time I'd love to compile a list of picks that have been rumored to be on the move.

Just off the top of my head:

2nd- rumor was Rockets packaging it to either get Cade or Beal
3rd- Again Cavs trying to get Cade
4th- Raptors potentially looking to trade down on draft night but unlikely
7th- Warriors trying to get a superstar
9th- SAC trying to get a star/established vet
10th- NOP trying to get an established vet/move off bad contracts
14th- GSW trying to get a star
23rd and 24th- Rockets could use these to move off of salary
28th- Philly looking to move up
29th- UTA might use it to get out of Favors contract

And thats before the 2nd round where picks are apparently up for auction. Might be a lot easier to get into the draft than we might think.

#TeamGaruba

I’d trade Kleber/Brunson for him without hesitation. The kid will be really good in the NBA for a long time.

RE: 2021 NBA DRAFT: July 29, 7 pm - david75090 - 07-24-2021

Not picking on anyone specifically, but I think the Mavs ought to trade Brunson and Kleber for everybody. Maybe even go out and find other Brunsons and Klebers to trade, perhaps corner the market. Increase their value. The more we acquire, the more there will be to trade. Create a super-team out of all the Brunson/Kleber proceeds...after it all shakes out.

Feels like he worked out for every single team in the league. Makes no sense to continue with the workouts if he has a deal with a team that he likes. Really hard to tell. I think he will be picked in the mid second round. Probs to him and his management. Rarely seen a 2nd round pick with more media coverage. That alone might have been enough to increase his chances.
