Also if not, this was made a big deal because of his friend tweeting out the pic, then lying about the timing of the incident. The NBA called him to basically ask if his friend was lying, he confirmed his friend was lying, and that’s that. They for sure should take a bit extra care when allowing him back in, but big and dire consequences? Nah, this is mostly a non-story blown up by a friend lying to try to cover for Lou. Other than that, the amount of testing and precautions going on in the bubble makes it safe enough from him blowing the whole thing up. RE: Around the NBA 2019-2020 - Hypermav - 07-26-2020 Gentlemen's clubs are considered higher risk and it determines the amount of time for quarantine. It is more than just going out to eat. That is why Lou got the longer 10 day quarantine. The NBA started the inquiry after the picture was posted. Lou did not tell them he went to the gentlemen's club, the NBA initiated the inquiry and then he admitted to it. I don't see what is so hard about this... The 10 day quarantine is standard for players leaving the bubble, there is nothing extra being levied on him for this. The NBA also doesn’t see it as a big deal. "The move will sideline him two of the eight regular season games that begin next week. On a regularly excused absence, as long as the player tests negative for the COVID-19 coronavirus every day while away, he would be quarantined for only four days." He might also deceive since money is involved. https://twitter.com/BobbyMarks42/status/1287164404480593920?s=20 RE: Around the NBA 2019-2020 - ItsGoTime - 07-26-2020 (07-26-2020, 11:29 AM)Hypermav Wrote:Ok, I’m wrong...still not a big deal. RE: Around the NBA 2019-2020 - Hypermav - 07-26-2020 lol okay RE: Around the NBA 2019-2020 - omahen - 07-27-2020 Very interesting piece. I have also noticed the following: I suspect first-round picks will be for sale in this draft," one team executive said. https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/29544380/nba-owners-current-financial-turmoil-portends-future-payroll-problems This might be a very good time to seize an opportunity, if Cuban pockets are deep enough. Another couple of interesting quotes: 1) But the signs already point to hard decisions coming and possible player movement to handle the money challenges. 2) With few exceptions, no one wants to make long-term commitments right now Orlando we were discussing lately (Gordon), has 122 mil commited salary without the 2019 and 2020 rookies coming to the books. The ability to take money might be very valuable. Problem with Mavs is, we can't just take money, we also need to send it back RE: Around the NBA 2019-2020 - Mavs2019 - 07-27-2020 (07-27-2020, 08:36 AM)omahen Wrote: Very interesting piece. I have also noticed the following: We are talking about the team that would be nothing without Dirk and Luka, but still thinks the draft is an annoyance. Highly unlikely the Mavs buy an additional pick. I do agree that teams could look to shed pay-roll, therefore make players more accessable via trade or in restricted free agency. THEN replace them with the cheaper rookies. You are the Pistons or Cavs why you care whether Blake or Love are there next season. You are not selling tickets. You are not selling tickets. But the only ones able to just take Love or Blake are those very similar "Pistons or Cavs". Atlanta, Detroit, Miami (if they renounce all their free agents - Dragic, Jones Jr, Crowder,...) and Charlotte are the only teams with cap space worth mentioning. And I don't think Miami would want to add Love or Blake, even if it is for free. That would be $12M in total relief next season. Maybe generate some extra relief by trading/buying out the incoming players.(07-27-2020, 09:05 AM)Mavs2019 Wrote: You are the Pistons or Cavs why you care whether Blake or Love are there next season. You are not selling tickets. It will really depend how desperate some owners are. Furthermore such deals are done, when owners are looking to sell their teams, and want to offer a clean slate. This will be interesting times for sure. Nah, but I´m also not worried about losing millions every day from daily operations and franchise value. Sure for some this is a passion, but for others it´s just an investment. Say the Cavs owners wants to sell the team and he receives an offer. The buyer says, you know I really don´t fancy paying Kevin Love $100M over the next three years, how about we knock $50M off the price. Kevin Love would disappear from the Cavs roster faster than Rajon Rondo after a backcourt violation. I can also see restricted free agency changing. In the past teams would sometimes simply match to retain an asset, but nowadays they might just prioritize the financial aspect/burden and allow a player to walk. RE: Around the NBA 2019-2020 - ThunderMav - 07-27-2020 Saw this and surprised by how many did not go straight BLM. Some are just normal everyday yet seem to distance some from BLM. https://twitter.com/joe_mussatto/status/1286756844749443072 Hope they have bleepers ready. Who polices? They don’t want me thats for sure. Blake is a huge negative value and no way I am trading THJ for him. I probably wouldn't trade for him if I had Lee at 30 mil per year available RE: Around the NBA 2019-2020 - ClutchDirk - 07-27-2020 https://twitter.com/SacramentoKings/status/1287879689202290689 RE: Around the NBA 2019-2020 - Hypermav - 07-30-2020 Need a who to pull for thread, Scott?!? Thinking Pelicans over the Jazz would be good for the Mavs. I would prefer the Lakers beat the Clips but even better would be a few groin injuries on both teams. RE: Around the NBA 2019-2020 - IamDougieFresh - 07-30-2020 IDK about you guys but this TNT broadcast is super cringe RE: Around the NBA 2019-2020 - Hypermav - 07-31-2020 I would be a shame if the Mavs move up to 6th and the Clips get passed by the Nuggets. Then we can start a tank thread. |
