Similar goes for Minny.

Agree.  I think Minny is probably a better fit than Sacramento at the TDL.  I'd love to have Bogi.  If I'm Sacramento, I can probably get more for him as a summer S&T than I can right now.

Detroit is another logical partner.  I've been including Wright in a lot of deals lately because I smelled an issue dating back to the interview he did with Cato.  Lee + Wright gets you to a match for Drummond.  I'd probably want to take back someone like Bruce Brown in such a deal.  It was hard to figure where Drummond would get enough minutes to justify his salary pre the Powell injury.  It is easier to envision the minutes now.

Drummond you either see him as a fit or you don't. I don't think there is a lot of middle ground here. If you don't, he is way too expensive to be an asset, so there is no point in bringing him over.

I don't see him as a fit. Someone like JaVale is playing similar role with lower usage for basically minimum money without demanding to be a focus of the team. He is awfully overpaid and will expect to remain overpaid. His stats are not contributing to winning games. Rebounds as a stat are way overrated imho. Center has to box out, it doesn't matter who collects the rebounds. Based on all that, I just wouldn't give any assets for him. I rather bring Noah if he can still walk.

The real question here is - can they get someone better than Bogi in free agency? They are not really a dream come true free agent destination. Wouldn't it make more sense to just extend Bogi and try to get anything that fits better than Dedmon? I tend to say answer to those questions would be yes. I would give up Bogi, if I receive picks or good young players. Their roster is well rounded, the problem is just that the players are not really that good. They have plenty of back-up point guards, so Wright is not really interesting for them, unless the deal includes Jospeh horrible contract. I guess someone like Philadelphia might make more appealing offer for Sacramento: Smith+Bolden and a first round pick. They can raise the offer with Thybulle. Dallas offer perhaps: Lee+DFS+GSW2nd for Bogi+Dedmon. I don't think we can win this one - lower ceiling guy, worse pick. They are not taking JJ back and Brunson is just another back up point guard for them - not many minutes available behind Fox.
I think the key here is to get them a backup that is similar to Bog but more suited to the bench role. Lee + Curry for Bog + Dedmon is the right value IMO. That moves THJ or DFS to the bench.

^^^
Bog is 27 yo, so the move from 27 to 29 isn't so big, plus Curry is on the right contract for his production.

Since he's (probably) a FA this summer, salary expectations are the real wildcard with Drummond.  Of course he wants to be a max player.  But let's say he's not.  At what point does he become a good value?

I don't know the answer.  But with a Mavs-friendly agent I'd be very interested in how those conversations might go.

I'm really tired of hearing this Mavs friendly agent stuff. Please name a couple of examples of favors that this friendly agent did to us.

I don't remember any of his star clients (Kemba, Middleton) coming to Dallas in the summer. All his players in Dallas (Barnes, Jordan, Powell) were paid richly. Basically we are paying his tier 2 or 3 players tier 1 or 2 money. It is really difficult for me to understand where is the Dallas benefit in this Mavs friendly agent relationship.

Since we are speaking the all powerfull agents, Bill Duffy should work out a deal to merge his clients Luka and Myles Turner.

In Dallas

Lol, we own all their picks so it will have to be small moves or step moves

*If* Carlisle thinks he could make Drummond work here, *and* if Luka likes the idea, I would consider Drummond at a salary ceiling of $14 mil per year. I think he leaves the league before taking that low of a salary, but if not, welcome to Dallas, Dre.

I Wouldn't mind paying him 20M/year, but still think he's gonna get close to 25.

The only team with the money to do that is Atlanta. Good luck, Trae!

Randle just got 3/$63 so some dumb team will pay Drummond.

If he declines his PO it's ATL, DET, CHA, CLE, NYK and TOR (I'm taking PHO and MEM because I think they already have their center and NOP because they will give Ingram his MAX).

RE: Around the NBA 2019-2020 - Aussiebballer - 01-23-2020

I can see Atlanta offering 4yrs/$85mil or NY 1yr\$30mil
Dallas are in 2021 mode, unless they trade for him and it works really well.
