Guessing he'll be playing plenty in either China or Europe next year

Wonder what his trade value is. Mavs obviously don´t have the assets but he could be the perfect Draymon-like playmaking and defense forward for any team.
76ers just need to admit that he should play full time PF and move Harris and/or Horford. Or Simmons. Probably the most talented but worst fitting roster in the league.

RE: Around the NBA 2019-2020 - ThunderMav - 01-07-2020

Wow this team.  Were down 7 with 3 to go and got it to OT.  Then won by 8 final 111-103.  4-0 in OT.  This is on a road/road back to back without Gallo or Noel.  CP took over in 4th and SGA came up big in OT.  Pretty amazed at how many times they come back this year and how good Billy has done.  Credit to CP tho he has done a great player/coach role too.  Changed his attitude from when the trade was announced, been nothing but team player since game 1.

Adams had 24/15 last night too

Great article and expresses how it is for me the fan. Had no expectations which has made this year funner than the last 2:

The Thunder’s Rebuild Has Hit the NBA’s Sweet Spot
Oklahoma City is having its cake and eating it, too, experiencing stunning success in the present while its front office is focused on the future

My friend Paul Flannery of SB Nationtold me something last year that stuck with me: “The best time you can have in [the NBA] is right before you get good.” There’s a vibe, an electricity, and a warmth that seems to pulse through a team that’s figuring out what it can be while it’s still free from the weight of expectations and the need to have all the answers right this second.

Tune in to an Oklahoma City game these days, and chances are you’ll find yourself feeling that kinetic energy. A mix-and-match Thunder roster stitched together in the aftermath of two foundation-rattling trades—a bunch of dudes with two or fewer years of NBA experience, a couple of journeyman vets, a giving tree, a pair of potent and underrated scorers, and a point god—has blown past underwhelming preseason projections and cemented itself as a bona fide playoff team rather than a resident of the shaky lower half of the Western Conference. While Russell Westbrook and Paul George continue to enmesh themselves in the fabric of their would-be title contenders—a process that figures to get a little emotional for Westbrook on Thursday, when he’ll enter Chesapeake Energy Arena as a visitor for the first time—the rebooted and retooled Thunder are finding their own way to win. And they’re having fun doing it.

The significance of this means Thunder have no urgency to make any deals and can wait for right one or none at all.  Gallo can be S&T next summer.

But, your spacing sucks because you have Steven Adams on your team...or so I've heard.

Darn y'all. I was really looking forward at the beginning of the season to poaching Adams or Gallo.

3 guys that can penetrate the defense and create their own shot. One stretch 4. One big screener with great hands and a soft touch around the rim. I expected SGA to be good and wanted the Mavs to pick him with an additional 1st but did not expect him to be as good in his 2nd season. Schröder is the biggest suprise. Really improved his defense and developed a great midrange jumper. Adams is probably my favorite non Mavs player in the league.
Only problem for me is CP3. Great basketball player but he is probably 3rd on my most disliked player list. Only beaten by Rondo and Wade.

Completly different scheme compared to the Mavs. It seems like they are still going with the "the best shot is the one closest to the basket" approach.
Top 10 in shots in the paint and from midrange. Bottom 5 in 3-point volume. Makes sense with 3 ballhandling guards that are really good midrange shooters.

RE: Around the NBA 2019-2020 - ThunderMav - 01-08-2020

My only worry about Adams is in the past 2 years he wore down in second half of season.  Mostly from taking a beating.  He started off year slightly dinged up but after mid Nov he’s been really healthy and it shows.

I fully expected a roster blowup and most local fans did too.  SGA is way better than I ever thought.  Dennis is playing great.

But CP is playing way better too.  I read he has 109 clutch points most in NBA.  But also to show how much he hated Harden this is more clutch points in 37 games than he had in 2 full years with Houston.  If they had this version they likely win title in one of those years.

I fully expected to hate CP too.  Did not really like him at all.  He said some things at time of trade as well.  But then once season started he turned on a switch and has been nothing but all team.  No complaining.  No not trying.  He has actually embraced teaching the youngsters.  He’s trying to get me to like him again and its starting to work.  I looked for any excuse to not like him under assumption he would be a locker room problem.  Het nothing.  In fact he is having fun.  He is always praising other players.  He bought tailored expensive suits for the whole team.  Last Sat we played in Philly so he took players and staff to Philly football game on Sun.  All paid by him.  Everyone was welcome not just players.

I think in Houston he was always second dog to Harden het got blame when it went bad.  They did not see ehe to eye.  Here, he has no pressure and has no team mate like Harden.  And I think he is trying to prove he still has it.  For whatever reason he is meshing with his team mates.

As for Adams, had we blown it up I only wanted him to go to Mavs.  I really like him and his humor.  He’s still learning too.  Great pick and roll guy.  But now I feel better we keep roster as is and maybe make small moves.  We do need to pace his minutes though.

This season came out of nowhere for me.  I had no hopes of making playoffs (and its still not a given, young players can hit rough patches in long season).  So its fun with no expectations.  Billy is actually a good coach too but walked into a tough deal.  Now he has his players that came into his system (vice him walking into vet players who are going to be harder to change).

This is crazy when looking back over the years withe talent yet this years team is doing pretty good all things considered.  I figure if we make playoffs we can rough up Lakers or Clippers a bit in first round before we bow out.  Lots of ball left too.

Around the NBA 2019 2020 - mrRandallvab - 01-08-2020

Most of the big ones that we caught this year have already been posted, but here are a couple from last year that my brother and a friend caught. They were around 19lbs and 17lbs.

RE: Around the NBA 2019-2020 - mtrot - 01-09-2020

Well, don't look now, but the Spurs are starting to beat some tough teams.  They dropped 129 on the Celtics tonight in Boston and won.  If the Mavs keep playing like this, the Spurs are going to blow by them.

RE: Around the NBA 2019-2020 - ThunderMav - 01-09-2020

No matter what a person thinks of him he meant as much to OKC as Dirk did to Dallas.  Its gonna be lit tonight.  Plus the new City uniforms memorializing the bombing 25 years ago will be unveiled and worn.  Will have survivors there.  Gonna be quote a lot of emotions.  And if Harden plays you have the CP/Harden beef as a side story.

They also have 4 guys on the floor that are better at creating offense than any non Luka on the Mavs roster.
