Thankfully, there are six in each conference as opposed to 8 and 4.

I always thought the Blazers have way overachieved their talent level the last 2-3 years, and I believe that was also reflected in the way they outplayed their statistcal model forecasting. Looks like they lost whatever "secret sauce" they had when they essentially rotated out their entire supporting cast around Dame/CJ. Spurs are in the same boat.

SO MUCH THIS.

They are a massively overrated team to start with.

They also seriously underrated the impact of wing sized 3&D players. Replacing Aminu/Harkless with Bazemore/Hezonja. Whiteside is playing like DAJ. Not interested in defense or team results as long as he gets his rebounds.
I think with healthy Nurkic and Lilllard they would be better than the Suns or Timberwolves but overall they really screwed up in free agency.

This guy had a lot of accurate scoop during FA summer and he lives in Australia but loves American basketball. He has some good connections.

Anyways he’s keeping up with Ball who is playing in Australia this year.  Same league T-Ferg played in before OKC drafted him.  Its known as a physical league which is good for young players to get beat up a bit so to speak.

He looked good in that game.

Yet, I somehow feel if lets just say Lonzo was in that league he'd put up even gaudier numbers at that age. Consensus from most scouts is that this is a weaker draft than most and outside of the top 5 there's a big drop off, and even then the top 5 prospects aren't necessarily franchise altering.

LaMelo certainly looks like a top 3 pick so far, but I think that speaks more about the talent level of the overall draft rather than LaMelo's individual brilliance.

RE: Around the NBA 2019-2020 - ThunderMav - 11-25-2019

The challenge with determining how good drafts will be is we are looking at players very young.  Since NBA only has a 1 year wait the crop of recruits will mature so much within just the last year prior to NBA draft.  In NFL they wait 3 years so you have a better idea of potential talent.  So its possible a draft labeled as weak can turn out really good as these college freshmen play all season long.  I agree with your overall take tho but it might still be a good crop.

Tonight we have the super tank playoffs continuing GS vs OKC

Coming in at 5 wins the Thunder have work to do.  2 of their 5 wins have come against Tank favorite GS.

Coming in at 3 wins is GS and are at home tonight. Facing a team without superstar Diallo, and a coach who actually tries to win but doesn’t do so often.  This could be an epic tank nailbiter and its possible OKC can gain ground and lose in this tankathon series.

Odds favor GS to go up 0-3 vs OKC and are unfavored at +6.5.

Man, I know the feeling.  Wanting your young guys to grow and get better and hope the old farts don't win the game for you.  GSW's do play hard.

I missed the Cleveland game as well as the Rockets this weekend.  Watched the Rockets game yesterday late, so now I get to enjoy the Cleveland victory tonight.

I know Thunder streak will end but wow at SAS streak:

I hated to see the end come without a title but also relieved we got so much.  Last year was what I call “fan stressful” due to expectations and then not living up to them.  And capped out so no way to really improve.  In the end we maximized them for the future and no way we get same value if we wait a year.  Its so much funner watching them play this year with no pressure even with no playoff hope.  Fans needed a reset to be honest and so far are taking it well.  The youngsters are entertaining and after all thats what the sport is supposed to be.

Gallo is gonna be a great get for some team he’s the guy we needed last year.  Love watching him play.  I like the young core of SGA, Ferg, Bazley and Diallo.  Adams is young enough to be helpful in and after rebuild.

Joel Embiid is getting owned by Marc Gasol again. 0 points and 0/4 FG in 17 minutes at halftime.
Self proclaimed best player in the world tasting the humble pie.

Embiid finished 0 points and 0/11 in 32 minutes. Ouch!

Cannot wait to hear the excuse. Probably another illness or hidden injury. He will never admit that Gasol simply shut him down.

Do those pick swaps actually mean anything?
Hard to know since they are so far out, but looks like the Clippers will be good for a while, assuming George and Leonard stay.
Houston are bit harder to project, could easily see Harden and Westbrook aging poorly.
I wouldn't expect much value from the swaps until 2025.

RE: Around the NBA 2019-2020 - ThunderMav - 11-25-2019

^^^

I think LAC decline happens well before 2025.  They went all in

RE: Around the NBA 2019-2020 - Aussiebballer - 11-25-2019

Maybe, I guess the main thing will be OKC improving to a playoff team to make the swaps worthwhile.
The next couple of drafts will be very important to get the youth movement in full swing and to keep some excitement for the local fans.
Luckily they have 5 1st rd picks in 2020 and 2021 so lots of chances to get a couple of quality players.

RE: Around the NBA 2019-2020 - Jym - 11-25-2019

Kind  of amazing how shallow the Bucks are at the moment.
Wesley Matthews is their #2 option some nights

RE: Around the NBA 2019-2020 - Aussiebballer - 11-25-2019

I think letting Brogson leave is going to bite them big time in the playoffs.
Once teams concentrate on stopping Giannis (as much as you can), having Brogdon as a gun shooter and play-maker was a big boost for them.

I would have traded Bledsoe and kept Brogdon, but maybe there wasn't a market for Bledsoe.
