Bad look for the Raptors?
No bad look IMO. Like the article says, the NBA standard is guys on the playoff roster get them, but being on the team during the season they don’t. If that move wasn’t made, maybe none of the Raptors get rings.

MLB on the other hand I think is different as I remember when the Rangers played the Giants in the World Series, Benji Molina getting a ring either way was a talking point.

In 2011 when the Mavs won, there were a few in-season moves and none of the dudes that got traded/released got a ring.  As the article said, it is common practice.  Here is a funny story relayed by Novak when he was asked about it ON AIR...

TBH, if anyone not on the playoff roster deserved a ring it would have been DeRozan.  He was the sacrificial lamb that brought in KL after all the years with the RAPS.  You have to draw the line somewhere.

Rockets just waived Ryan Anderson.

He could be this team‘s Troy Murphy

Melo is back and he looks like he never left.

-18 in 23 minutes
10 points
5 tov
4/14 FG

with 6 minutes left in the game.

Best thing that could happen for the Mavs. If the Blazers had any hope of making the playoffs the Melo signing ended them.

RE: Around the NBA 2019-2020 - ThunderMav - 11-20-2019

Tank is going great so far.  We’ve lost 6 games to playoff teams by 5 or less and now sit 5-9.  Hard to imagine if we win those games we’d be 11-3.  Thats how close we are/were and lost Russ/PG/Grant.  I love the youngsters.  Love Gallo he is what we needed the last 3 years a man can dream “what if” watching him play.

CP is really working with the young guys.  I don’t like CP but respect he seems to have settled in and is honestly trying to help them so hats off to him for that.

Adams is struggling right now I think he played with Russ so long he knew what Russ would do every time and not so much the new cast. Adams is so good on the P&R with Russ but its taking time to adjust.  CP is not as aggressive so there is less good doing it now and it leaves Adams on an island more often.  Noel is playing great tho and some nights looks better than Adams.  He has adapted well and if he keeps it up could help his next deal or a trade.  We have a lot of trade potential on the roster just have to see who bites.  Billy is the perfect Tank Commander because he actually is trying to win lol.  Last night we had Clips and Ferg (becoming Robes clone on D) held PG in check all night.  So Billy does not play Ferg in last 2 minutes?  And PG hits game winner 3.  Idiot lol, bit effective for tank.

Really cool seeing Luka do so well. I think the upside is huge for Mavs as players gel.  Luka is a stud and Mavs may need to pull trigger earlier than thought to get more quality around him.  Otherwise you risk him mentally looking ahead to FA and you gotta give him hope.  Mavs must make playoffs this year and make moves to get better.  Have to show track record of helpimf Luka early on.

Great to see ya back ThunderMav! I got a quick question regarding Cp3. What is your genuine opinion of his general play? Has he been one of your best players? I've been trying to catch some OKC games to see if CP3 is worth trading for, and in the couple of games I've seen, CP3 does a lot of things that just doesn't show up on the stat sheet.

I watched the Laker game last night and multiple times Paul guarded Lebron in the post and more often than not came up with a steal. Has he been a consistent positive for you guys?

RE: Around the NBA 2019-2020 - ThunderMav - 11-20-2019

I am the wrong guy to ask about CP3 but I’ll try:

Its hard for me to decide about him.  He is spending a lot of time working with the youngsters.  I mean reliable reports have him being the last one out of locker room staying late to work with them.  And players like Ferg have really improved. I expected Ferg to be better but his D is really getting good for his experience.  We are putting him on opposing best player.  And CP has worked with him.

On the court its like I don’t know what to think.  He is a different player than Russ and all I’ve had is Russ.  CP seems slo motion yet our tempo is up.  He is actually not taking enough shots which surprises me.  He seems to be doing more coaching than playing hard.  My theory is since he knows we are mot playoff team he’s pacing and teaching more than playing.  That helps our young guys but hurts Adams because CP drives much less than Russ did and Adams is one of the best P&R guys so is used less in that role which we lose some of his abilities.  However, due to our soft tank CP is not gonna hurt himself - so of CP went elsewhere I think  he would be more aggressive as a player.

So for now I am undecided on him.  He seems wanting to help yet less active on court, likely to defer to youngsters.  Its not a bad thing either just different for me.  I’m used to Russ dictating the show andCP is much more passive. We have come close to winning 11 games which all thongs considered CP has to get some credit for getting young players to play so hard.  That contract tho, wowser.

Wow, imagine telling this to someone last Feb you woulda been locked up in looney farm!
