RE: Around the NBA 2019-20 | Dec 22 start (Dec 1 camp) for 2020-21 w/ 72 gm schedule - KillerLeft - 11-06-2020 (11-06-2020, 11:41 AM)omahen Wrote: Where do you see pressure? Well, if these things are floated by the team, then it's logical that Milwaukee fans' hopes get up about the situation immediately. In a way, that sets the expectation that there's no reason for him not to sign. It sort of sets him up to look like the bad guy if he doesn't. I think it's a mistake, because the fans turning on him in any way can only hurt their chances of retaining him. And, fwiw, I don't think the intent matters. Even if these are innocuous rumors, I think it's telling that the downside of this message hasn't been foreseen by the organization. Or maybe they have reason to believe he's ready to sign. If so, no prob. Quote:The salary cap for the 2020/21 season is expected to remain unchanged, with the NBA and NBPA artificially setting at $109.141MM despite projected revenue losses. The league and the union are discussing the possibility of agreeing to have the cap increase by 2% annually for the remainder of the current Collective Bargaining Agreement, per Charania (Twitter link). That would mean a cap of $111.324MM for the ’21/22 campaign. Beaubois led Efes in points (23), assists (7) and performance index rating (36) — the latter two marking personal highs in his 140-game EuroLeague career. He missed just 2 shots, downing 5 of 5 two-pointers, 3 of 5 triples and 4 of 4 free throws, while making 3 steals and blocking 2 shots, as well. Glad to see Roddy have so much success. I was SO high on him and thought he had superstar (or close to) potential. Glad to see him having so much success in Europe. Playing 82 games dilutes the product, critics claim, and lessens the importance of each one. It also creates a marathon atmosphere that presents a high risk of injury and causes players to sometimes seem unmotivated. https://www.hoopsrumors.com/2020/11/community-shootaround-72-game-schedule.html RE: Around the NBA 2019-20 | Dec 22 start (Dec 1 camp) for 2020-21 w/ 72 gm schedule - FunkBoreland - 11-08-2020 Quote: A little harsh, but it makes sense in a star driven league. I've been at AAC for LAL/GSW where fans would be disappointed that their Lebron/Curry didn't get to play. Arenas not only make money from the home team, but visiting teams where the Phoenix Suns fan whose living in Plano, wants to see their Devin Booker play. Quote: Hard to argue against this, because precisely makes the games more valuable to watch. Almost everyone in this board is desperate for free agency action, and gonna be more desperate to see how the roster looks in live games. This serves both, star players to rest enough to play every game (DIRK ALWAYS HATED B2B GAMES) and forces fans to appreciate/value the games much more than before. Baseball with 162 games is difficult to appreciate every ball . game . inning. pitch. hit . save . bottom of the 5th and its already 9pm. Even the rookies will have just been resting from real games for almost a year. That was part of the point of the article - those guys won't be in shape to play when the season starts. Of course, not a problem for the Mavs, since they played in the bubble. Also, easier free wins against the non-bubble bottom feeders. I watched a draft video last night that made the point that the guys drafted in this draft are going to have major disadvantages that other rookies before and after didn't - no summer games, very short training camp, etc. All but the ones with the highest of BBIQs are going to struggle big time to learn NBA defense and team playbooks. That likely takes a guy like Precious Achiuwa off the board for the Mavs - there's no way RC plays him 2020-21, and the Mavs need help now. I understand what they're trying to do but after the rating disaster that was the bubble I figured the NBA would tacitly walk away from overt social justice messages in their product.
