It's understandable if you haven't been watching them consistently. They don't look like much at a glance, but I have seen every game they've played in the playoffs, and believe me when I tell you that they have been the best team in the bubble, so far.

A couple of stretches of tonight's game might actually be the worst I've seen them play. The end of this game is pretty much how they've looked consistently, if you can believe it.
Oh, I've been watching them all season.  I told this one know-it-all guy at my gym back in January that I thought the Heat might come out of the East.  He scoffed at that and assured me that it would be the Bucks.

Well shit, you've been watching them longer than I have, then!

I'm a believer.

Bam Adebayo was something else.

I remember begging MBT to add another pick and draft the dude in the DSJ draft. One of the very few times I've ever been right on a pick.

Boston is one bigman away from dominating the east in the coming years. I think Myles Turner would be the perfect fit for them. Theis is great but when he is on the bench the Celtics have zero rim protection or post defense.
Heat are one Giannis away from doing the same. Will be interesting to see how both teams handle the offseason.

I wonder if Boston calls Philly and throws the bag at them for Embiid.

Two first round exits with the Hornets but I agree. He was a big negative for the Celtics. Liability on defense and passive on offense. Felt like he wasn´t even the 3rd option.
IMO, size matters.  Just too small in the playoffs. And I hope the Mavs are finished with their penchant for signing small guards.

Look pals, I know the history here. I'm 100% Mavs fan, and I hate Wade.

I hated Wade/Lebron/Bosh even more.

But I'm sorry, these guys they have now are the GOOD guys. If you can't root for them against:
  • Lebron "I'm declaring myself the best of all time" James
  • Anthony "I've decided I just won't play unless you send me to LA" Davis
  • Rajon "I'll just go ahead and intentionally foul until coach takes me out of this playoff game" Rondo
  • Dwight "I went out of my way to waste as much of my talent as possible" Howard
  • Alex "Lakers fans swear I'm better than Luka" Caruso
  • Danny "I strung the Mavs along knowing I was signing in LA" Green
  • Markief "I'm related by blood to the man who tried to kill Luka on national TV" Morris
  • Literally, the most entitled fan base in all of pro sports
I could go on, but don't think it's necessary. If you can't root for THIS version of the Heat against THAT, then I think maybe your basketball soul needs saving, friends.

I agree that the big is their weakest position, but I think it's more than that. I feel like they don't all agree who their best players are.

I have a feeling that either Brown or Smart will be available this off season.

Rule number one, don't do deals with Ainge.

Rule number two, obey all rules.

Give me both. Would be tempted to offer KP if I can get both in return.

Noted. Don't forget to read @"Hypermav"'s rules before making the trade call!

Agree. Ainge has some crazy voodoo powers.

RE: Around the NBA 2019-2020 | LAL vs. Miami Finals - KillerLeft - 09-27-2020

I really think there's something to that, though. @"mtrot" called them deep, and in a way, I agree. I think they're almost too deep, in a way.

You guys are down on Kemba, and I agree that he had a rough series, but I also feel like if more crucial possessions featured either Walker Tatum, or both, they might still be playing.

Love Smart and Brown, but both of them think they're superstars when they're really just EXCEPTIONAL role players.

BTW, I don't think Stevens is overhyped, necessarily. He's a hell of a coach. But if the great Rick Carlisle was running that team, I feel like they'd understand that there are points in the game when the ball MUST go to Tatum. If Stevens is preaching that, they're not listening to him.

Spo on the other hand? Dude is a flat out master. I used to hate him, but he has gotten so much better since 2011. This is a team who built their roster to have cap room in 2021, not to compete. There is no doubt in my mind that Spo is going to out coach Vogel in the next round. They still might lose (bc Lebron) but he's going to make a series, for sure.

It´s not like Smart always has a a high usage. I think he is just as happy with zero FGA as long as the Celtics win. Disagree on Brown. He is a borderline allstar and probably a legit 2nd or 3rd option on most teams.
I thought Walker was the problem because he was really passive. It started in the previous series when the Raptors played a box-and-1 zone against him. He never looked the same afterwards. Just going through the motions instead of attacking. Smart was trying to make up for it but he simply isn´t as good on offense.
Not to mention that Hayward never found his role after his return.

Give me both. Would be tempted to offer KP if I can get both in return.

I would do that - *if* we got the top two of their three draft picks this year and *if* we somehow could do the deal in such a way as to get them to take at least one of our bad contracts. And that's only because of KP's injury concerns. And those two caveats aren't happening when you have Ainge on the other end of the phone.

Edit: looked into it - no such possible trade. No deal.

 IF?

There are no ifs. That is an insane trade for the Mavs. Next summer you have a million elite centers available. At that point you take #18+#31 and send Powell down the road to San Antonio for LMA. Next summer you dump Wright.

That´s a pipedream. The options would be endless.

Brown 25
Smart 14
Luka 10
Kleber 9
Curry 8
DFS 4
Brunson 2

That´s 43M in capspace. Just get Giannis or split it all between Jarrett Allen (15), LMA (10) and DeRozan (18).

Luka/Brunson
Smart/Curry
Brown/DeRozan
DFS/Kleber
Allen/LMA

LOL that´s a bench that wins 42-45 games. Big Grin

You must think KP is going to be crippled by '22 if you think that about that trade. That, or you have a hell-bent, psychotic non-appreciation of his game.

I don't think "small guards" is bad per se. Burke was really good for us. And without JJB there is no banner in Dallas.

But as always you need a Plan B. And as long as small guards are Plan A, Plan B is to bench them, if you don't want them to have a high usage at every second, they are on the court.

Tatum, Kemba, Brown and Smart might really be to much.
