Well right he won't be asked to do those things. DFS does a little bit more now than he used to but for his first couple of seasons he did 3's and stuff at the rim off of cuts. I mean we will see how it goes. This is why I don't mind at all when the Mavs trade their pick for a known quantity. The promise of a draft prospect is great and when it works out its awesome bc you have their rights for a long time. When it doesn't work out you have a guy you can't play. But when faced with a bunch of prospects and great uncertainty, I like guys with long arms. Short armed guys, unless you’re all world, got no reason. RE: #18 PICK: Josh Green | 6' 5.5" | 6' 9.75" wingspan - juanc - 11-19-2020 I'm super happy with the Green pick as some of you already know. Actualy I think Donnie realy mastered the draft! So let me just leave my old post about Green and what his trainer had to say about him. Now the guy for me, if the Mavs keep the #18, is Josh Green. I know that he is not the most popular pick here, but let me explain you why I think he'd be great for the Mavs. Let me first say that I realy like his athleticism. He is a very agile and fluid athlete, I would say that he is elite in those areas. He's explosive, great at decelerating and at switching directions. That's what I think is very importatnt for a good defender, to bo able to quickly adjust to the offensive player you are guarding(specially 1on1 D). He also has nice height for a guy I think will be able to guard 1-3 in the NBA. He has a PG's speed and agility in a SG/small wing body. He also has a great frame, and I think that he could and should put on some real strenght. He is a late bloomer IMO and the game will get easier for him once he gets stronger(especially his core strenght).(I saw this when he was driving to the basket, he was kind of avoiding the contact, I would say a big reason for that is his weak/er core. Guys like Okoro for, example, use that strenght when they play defense against college competition, but it won't be that "easy" against grown men in the NBA) But again, I think he has a great frame, and should easily put some muscle/get stronger there. He probably won't be Kawhi/Luka/Harden strong, but he'll be just fine. And the thing I like most about his defense is the motor/effort. He said that he LOVES to play defense. And thats what I would love for the Mavs to get. We all want a dog, so let's get a puppy! Big Grin Big Grin When it comes to his team defense, I think he'll be just fine there. Listening to the interview with Mike Schmitz, he understands the strenghts of his teammates and the concepts. He'll be just fine there. Oh and BTW, comparing his advanced stats to other 1st round prospects(who are good/great defenders) DWS and DBPM Josh Green(DWS= 1.9; DBPM= 4.1) Devin Vassell(DWS = 1.7; DBPM= 4.2) Isaac Okoro(DWS= 1.1; DBPM= 2.5) Patrick Williams(DWS= 1.3; DBPM= 3.2) Saddiq Bey(DWS= 1.3; DBPM= 1.9) Robert Woodard(DWS= 1.3; DBPM= 1.9) Desmond Bane(DWS= 1.9, DBPM= 2.6) source: sport-refference.com I like his shot and I think that he's going to be a good shooter(AT LEAST a 19/20 season Dodo like shooter). He also has a nice touch on his floater, and once he gets stronger it'll be easier for him to drive to the basket. He also isn't a black hole on offense and he can share the ball, make the extra pass and so on... He was top20 in PAC12 in AST%(and he had the lowest USG%). He would also be nice for the transition game, since the Mavs vere 23rd in points scored in tranisition if I'm not wrong. So all in all I am really high on him. If everything clicks for him, I see him as an elite defender(all defensive teams), while being what we all wish THJ would be on offense, and that's a great pickup at #18. https://twitter.com/NBA_AU/status/1328825745880190977 RE: #18 PICK: Josh Green | 6' 5.5" | 6' 9.75" wingspan - bartlettbear - 11-19-2020 I like this pick he is a perfect fit and need. |
