Passing up on Bey hurts more for me now that DFS has regressed and Richardson looks like just a guy. I thought we had a similar player in DFS and Mavs needed more on ball defense. Suddenly we need a 3D forward who can play some 4, and we still don't have any perimeter on ball defense. So we whiffed on the best player and the need., RE: AROUND the NBA - ItsGoTime - 02-15-2021 (02-14-2021, 11:13 PM)KillerLeft Wrote: Would’ve been even better if it had landed squarely in the middle of Kuzma’s stupid dumb face.I audibly chuckled. Well done sir! RE: AROUND the NBA - ItsGoTime - 02-15-2021 (02-15-2021, 01:11 AM)HoosierDaddyKid Wrote: I could be wrong, but I honestly think Green is going to be a one-trick pony, just a defender. He hasn't shown even a hint of a offensive game, granted he hasn't had the opportunity.I myself really appreciate his knack for cutting to the basket. Something this team SORELY lacks! RE: AROUND the NBA - omahen - 02-15-2021 Btw, when does NBA plan to publish the second half of games. Only like 10 days of games left. RE: AROUND the NBA - Tyler - 02-15-2021 Cleveland: Nah -- we don't plan to just waive your client so that he can play with Brooklyn for the minimum. But if you can secure a trade or a buyout that saves us enough money, we're all ears. Schwartz: I don't want him bought out, either, as that would eliminate his Bird rights and make it harder to get the contract he wants. Gimme some time. I got this. https://twitter.com/wojespn/status/1361343793375625216 RE: AROUND the NBA - HoosierDaddyKid - 02-15-2021 Saddiq Bey and Devin Booker were named Eastern and Western Conference players of the week. RE: AROUND the NBA - SwisherPrice - 02-15-2021 Julius Randle is better than Porzingis! RE: AROUND the NBA - sefant - 02-16-2021 It will be interesting to do an analysis on player performance in the NBA post COVID. There are quite a few players who are struggling badly. Tatum and Seth Curry looking straight up bad. Curry can't throw the ball into an ocean, and shooting ~ 30 % from 3 since he is back. Still think most NBA fans underrating the after effects of Covid. Hope the Mavs player can recover back to normal at some point. Some of those NBA players looking worse than coming back from breaking their leg. Overall i am still not worried about the current Mavs situation. I i think Kleber, JRich and DFS have upside in their performance, they all will look better in the 2nd half of the season hopefully. Starting 3 players who had COVID is hell. Players get paid to play by the teams. It is teams decision how much and when they choose to play them. It is players contractual obligation to play, be in shape etc. It is not teams obligation to play them, unless it is signed in the contract. The team obligation is to pay players, if they choose to play them or not. I am also very sure that by signing the contract the player also contractually agrees to be traded if the team decides so. RE: AROUND the NBA - Halfnir - 02-16-2021 All fine, but what he totally neglects that the team (employer) pays the player (employee) 7 to 8 digit salary per year, so the relationship is asymmetrical from the start, so you can not assume the same rights for both parties. And yes, the players operate in a regulated market which limits their choice of employment, but on the other hand, they get gladly accept huge sums of cash to be in this situation. RE: AROUND the NBA - omahen - 02-16-2021 Mavs were really unlucky. You get couple of cases now and they basically postpone your games for a week or more. Mavs played all but one. https://twitter.com/wojespn/status/1361702595316899843 RE: AROUND the NBA - ItsGoTime - 02-16-2021 (02-16-2021, 12:37 PM)omahen Wrote: Mavs were really unlucky. Frustrating that we had to be the guinea pigs. RE: AROUND the NBA - HoosierDaddyKid - 02-16-2021 May as well give Jordan Clarkson the 6th man award now. He's only the 4th Jazz player in franchise history to score 40 pts off the bench, in a win over the Sixers. Frustrating that we had to be the guinea pigs. There has to be some sort of compensation. The NBA is creating an uneven playing field by doing this especially if they're using win % as the cutoff for playoff standings. Currently the Grizzlies sit in 9th with an 11-11 record, and the Mavs are 10th with a 13-15 record. Why should the Mavs have a 6 game penalty where they were without half their roster (which coincides with their 6 game terrible losing streak), but the Griz are basically handed an advantage over all other teams? Either the Grizz should be forced to make up the games with multiple B2B's, or be given penalties for postponed games due to COVID. RE: AROUND the NBA - HoosierDaddyKid - 02-16-2021 Detroit at Dallas has been postponed. Weather related, not Covid. No telling if the NBA steps in and helps us out with that, but the hard truth is, probably not. It sucks, but it's the hand we were dealt. We just have to play better than the other teams to get to where we probably should be. I would love for him to sell the team - provided that the new owner 1) could maintain a decent relationship with Luka and Duffy, and 2) had as deep of pockets as pre-summer-of-'11 Mark. |
