NBA League pass - Chicagojk - 09-03-2025

Was curious what everyone is doing for Mavs/NBA games next year?  Especially out of towners.   For the last few years I have used YoutubeTV league pass.   The price increases on standard YoutubeTV is a totally seperate discussion, but I have enjoyed the NBA package.   I can start the games late and fast forward thru commercials.  I could not start games late a few years ago using the NBA.com league pass.

It was announced last week Youtubetv will not be offering NBAleague pass this year.   It will be done by Amazon instead.  I have not seen any pricing yet or how it will work.

To complicate things there are different platforms in play this year.  So I assume not all the games will be on League Pass?   Seems to be pretty dificult to a really simple request.   I want to watch most of the Mavs games.

Probably not same case as you. In Slovenia League pass is best option (booking directly on NBA.com). I can watch all games at any time, on three devices at same time. Do you have some games blacked out due to TV rights on the leaguepass?

Yes, I believe the blacked out games are true for everyone in the states.  It doesn't impact me because I am outside DC.

so NBA.com allows you to start late?  That wasn't the case for me a few years ago.

I can watch anytime I want, which I always do. And then fast forward through time-outs, free throws and similar.

I already have had Amazon Prime and recently got Peacock for "free" through my cable subscription. I also have just bought league pass through the NBA website every year and use a VPN to make it appear I'm in another state so I can get around the local blackout. I think they lowered the cost to $100 bucks a year now? That way if I have to miss a game live (which nowadays is getting too often for my liking), I have the DVR recording of it basically as soon as the game is done.  Sometimes the VPN thing can get a little finicky at times so I have to wait to watch a game, but it's usually worked with no issues for me.

I suppose my avenue isn't the cheapest but it works for me.

I am going to wait to see what the Amazon offer looks like.  Can you also watch from the NBA app/website from the beginning after the game starts.

I just want something simple that allows me to start the game around 30-45 minutes after it starts when the kids get to bed.    I am hoping the Amazon option is similar to the youtube tv option.    Heck, it will probably allow me to cancel Youtubetv for 6 months now.

Yes you can watch the game at any time as long as you're not in a restricted market (I.E. in Dallas) or it's a nationally televised game (ESPN/Peacock/Amazon).

The VPN allows me to watch local games live as it's happening or even on a delay, which is even better as you can just skip through the ads/breaks. For nationally televised games, unfortunately there is like a 3-4 hour delay of getting a DVR recording of it after the game is finished. So unless you watch those through the streaming services, you'd be a bit on a delay.

I imagine Amazon would offer something that includes a "league pass" option just because they have the ability to do so.

RE: NBA League pass - ballsrchr - 09-06-2025

I've tried League Pass, Youtube Tv, and anything else I can think of, all with unreliable results. I'm a 120 miles southwest of Dallas, out in the boondocks and I ALWAYS get caught in black outs, meaning 2/3 of the games, even on satellite TV because I live in the "viewing area". The "viewing area" meaning Dallas, San Antonio, and Houston (Texas!) And my blushing bride of 25 years won't let me watch the TV anyway. It's hers! I have Amazon Prime and will also check out that offering. I don't have high hopes.

I also have a VPN, but it doesn't work reliably because some "networks" can circumvent the benefits of a VPN...they don't know what your're watching, but if they see a VPN they don't allow broadcast. It also depends on which VPN you have. I have a good one, but in this case...not the best.

Recently, meaning several years ago, I installed an outside antenna and a TV tuner on my computer so I can get OTA (over the air) TV. So far it works great. I generally get all the Mavs games in high definition.

As a fall back I can always use those methods that can't be mentioned in mixed company with delicate ears...
