R.I.P. Mavs 1980-2025 - Jason Terry - 02-02-2025

The only way this makes sense is if the new owners are moving the franchise to Vegas.

Burn bridges with the community to make it easier to cut ties? Check

Do the league a solid in this time of bad ratings and gift a franchise player to the biggest name brand? Check

Just in my family two youngsters checked out their Mavs fandom today. They think this is rigged to favor the Lakers. They couldn’t care less if a team with AD and Kyrie win a title here or in LV. Well played Silver.

what are some good names they could pick once they move to Vegas?

Screw you Cuban for selling us to these scum. Don’t want to hear another word out of his mouth. He either got played or he was paid off in the sell. Either way he shouldn’t show his face in public anymore

Mavs2021 mentioned the Nico angle as well. Wouldn’t be surprised if he’s on his way out to take over as CEO of Nike. Doing the league a solid probably buys him a lot of future leverage

What a shame

From Zach Lowe;:

“Sample texts from NBA team execs: "This is the first time I've been legitimately shocked and could not move;"What a terrible deal" (no further clarification); and my favorite (among dozens in a similar vein) "What the f-ckity f-ck?????"“

new owners typically make the new owner big trade...not trading your best player.

Check the Discord chat from last night. I myself said RIP Mavs 1980-2025, and suggested that this was done by the owners to piss off Mavs fans so much that they wouldn't care when they moved the team. Great minds.

Dallas is the 5th largest market in the US. It’s massive. It’s the haves, not the have nots. Las Vegas is 40th and pretty much Laker territory. I’d love it if the Mavs moved to Vegas and Dallas could start over with an expansion team that has its picks. But that’s not going to happen. I do think the new owners will sell as soon as they figure out casino gambling will never be legal in Texas. The team they sell will be a hot mess.

Haven't logged on in a long time because I forgot my password and couldn't remember what throw-away email this account was set up on. But I finally found it and I am here to pay my respects!

RIP it was a good run! And it's a killer for us but congrats to Luka...this will most likely be better for his career long-term. Just too much turmoil in this organization behind-the-scenes for at least the last 5 years (and maybe even longer).

Even though Mark Cuban is no longer involved with the front office, his hands are still dirty from everything that has transpired with all of the drama that has played a part in leading us down this path.

I'm sad.

I don't even live in Dallas. I live in Canada but decided to become a Mavs fan in 2002, thanks to Dirk. Continued and stayed to be MFFL because of Luka. All my friends, coworkers and relatives know how much I love the Dallas Mavericks.

And now that Luka's gone.. I guess the time has come. This trade hurt me. I find it hard to root for this team ran by a bunch of inconsiderate people. They simply do not understand the loyalty we have on Luka.

I just feel so betrayed. 2011 run meant so much to me because it was led by Dirk who I was really loyal to. I'm sure you guys are too. This Mavs team could win it all but with Luka not being part of it would never feel right.
