Summer League Game 4 FINALS REMATCH: DAL vs. BOS | 3:30pm CST - SleepingHero - 07-19-2024 RE: Summer League Game 4 FINALS REMATCH: DAL vs. BOS | 3:30pm CST - HoosierDaddyKid - 07-19-2024 Would be nice if they get their 1st SL win against them, since the big team couldn't get it done. RE: Summer League Game 4 FINALS REMATCH: DAL vs. BOS | 3:30pm CST - Chicagojk - 07-19-2024 didn't see it all, but today was the Mavs best game of the summer. It was clearly Omax best game too. Not perfect, but good. He continues to be a good mirror defender on wings. I think this is his swing skill...guarding wings and guards. He really can cause some issue with his length. On offense, for the first time in this summer league he looked like a guy who could help the real team. Looked a lot more decisive but not forcing things. He even got some open three point looks. RE: Summer League Game 4 FINALS REMATCH: DAL vs. BOS | 3:30pm CST - SleepingHero - 07-19-2024 First summer league game this year I've thought that OMax took a step. He was breaking down dudes off the dribble, hitting turnaround fadeaways, on top of his stellar defense. Sheeeesh. Great game from him. RE: Summer League Game 4 FINALS REMATCH: DAL vs. BOS | 3:30pm CST - KillerLeft - 07-19-2024 Just watched the highlights. It's cool that O-Max made some shots, but most of them came out mid-range iso, which is pretty freaking far from what he'd be doing in a real game for the Mavs. Some of the catch-and-shoot opportunities looked good, and they seemed to come mostly from the wing, which is cool. Still, I wish the highlights showed some of his defense, because that's what I'm interested in with him. There was that super cool chase-down block, but I really wish I would've caught the actual game. RE: Summer League Game 4 FINALS REMATCH: DAL vs. BOS | 3:30pm CST - DL2RimRocker - 07-20-2024 OMax and Lawson looked pretty good. SL is more about finding out who can be developed more than anything, and I'd say Ajinca, Sharp and Miller are the only ones I'd like to see us develop other than OMax and Lawson. RE: Summer League Game 4 FINALS REMATCH: DAL vs. BOS | 3:30pm CST - Deebo - 07-20-2024 Lawson doesn’t know how to pass. Jacking up quick shots thinking he’s Curry?? Omax looks clumsy attacking on the dribble. Just awkward. Not smooth. There was that super cool chase-down block, but I really wish I would've caught the actual game. That's fair. But like we've said this entire summer league, I don't think this team is good enough to generate those type of looks consistently for Omax. It'd be nice for Omax to sit in the corner and wait for a spot up 3 but Jaz Gortman and Brandon Williams aren't going to create that type of shot. And if AJ Lawson gets the ball it's never leaving his hands. The fact that OMax finally started to be aggressive and shooting when he does his drive to the paint made me really excited. He looked smooth on those jumpers. Flowing from a dribble package move into a shot. Turnaround fadeaways through contact. That type of stuff shows me he can be a little bit more than a pure 3-D guy. And that defense was still there. He was SO good against that Jordan Walsh dude. Suffocated basically every single one of his shots and forced like 4 airballs. Still, it was good to feel like Omax was the best player on the floor. I have been harsh on the Mavs summer league rosters/two way guys in the past. I think that is warranted. I will say the Mavs are pretty good dumpster diving. Eugen Omoruyi was one and he has stuck around the NBA for a few years. The Mavs had a high flyer from SMU that eventually got a two way from a team a year or so ago. They had another guard who went on to be a two way guy, I believe. All undrafted. I think Gortman, Sharp and Miller all have something. Gortman and Sharp are just so far away, and I don't think either are two way caliber at this point. Miller could be, but not sure if he is the best option as a 24 year old. He is mature, tough and knows how to play. I would be surprised if any ever plays NBA minutes, but not bad finds looking under the clearance items. RE: Summer League Game 4 FINALS REMATCH: DAL vs. BOS | 3:30pm CST - Chicagojk - 07-20-2024 Regarding Melvin. I would say I am ok with his draft pick. I would have gone a different direction, but if he is a draft and stash I think it is a fine decision to draft him. I am just not sure he is a good/great shooter. Still only 20, but would like to get a much better sample to see if he can consistently hit open shots. Second, I am not sure he does enough else. Although there has been 3-4 times where he has made a play that is pretty impressive. The rest of the times, I wonder if he has the athleticism to be an NBA player. It will be nice to see him next year to see how he has grown. RE: Summer League Game 4 FINALS REMATCH: DAL vs. BOS | 3:30pm CST - RGP1981 - 07-21-2024 Melvin Maverick... could be a good name for the lead character of a Mavs based cartoon show for kids. ![]() |
