RE: AROUND the NBA: NBA to pursue upper spending limit in next CBA, NBAPA to resist - Branduil - 10-28-2022 (10-28-2022, 08:49 PM)DrMav Wrote: I hope whatever they can come up with in the new CBA can walk back some of this player movement empowerment. Just gonna spitball some ideas. I've also thought about something along the lines of the first two. IMO the Supermax money past the normal max should not count against the cap or luxury tax, it should solely be taking money from the owners. This also means owners could no longer hide behind the luxury tax or cap as an excuse for letting star players go. For trades, I would say there should be two choices: either the player gives up their Supermax money and gets traded as a normal max player, OR they have to get traded for their full salary, whatever it is, and the receiving team has to match all that money and it counts against their cap, while the team trading the star gets an exception equal to the Supermax money. Tampering is pretty much impossible to stop at this point I think. What I do think they could do is compensate teams who lose star players with a draft pick (on a sliding scale with losing a superstar giving an end-of-the-lottery pick), as long as that team had an offer on the table equal to what the leaving player took. Again, this would also remove another excuse owners use, Cuban would get no pick for Brunson unless he offered an equal contract. His midrange fades and post ups don´t work against a physical and big defender like Jrue. But to be fair. His teammate didn´t make it any easier for him. Spacing was bad and Brunson had to force it against a wall in the paint. If a team cannot make an outside shot against the Bucks it´s going to be ugly. Or maybe I don't get the point (nor the practical value) of such a thing. The owners want to stop themselves from spending, fine. The players want them to spend more, fine. Re-vamp the whole system where both things happen. Higher minimum and higher maximum, let them figure the particulars out. Drive out owners who don't want to spend, bring in those who will. What´s ADs current trade value? There is a recent thread dedicated to this exact question on RealGM if you want varying viewpoints. I dont need to read posts about how RealGM sucks to you. Im just responding to the poster to where he can read up on different viewpoints on his specific question on a certain site if he doesnt feel the responses here meet his need. RE: AROUND the NBA: NBA to pursue upper spending limit in next CBA, NBAPA to resist - HoosierDaddyKid - 10-28-2022 Caris Levert and Donovan Mitchell each had 41 pts in a 132-123 OT win in Boston. They also went 1-5 in preseason which included a 30 point and 47 point loss to the Kings who are currently... *checks notes*...0-4 in the regular season. (And some may say preseason doesn't really count, which is normally true unless referring to Laker pain in which case it definitely counts.) That's why I wasn't on the "pay Brunson over $100 million" train. He is a very good player. But, he's not the type of player that's going to be a big piece on a Championship team. He had too many games where he disappeared in the playoffs last year in big moments. Team's that had good defenders were locking him up pretty easily. Don't get me wrong. I always liked Brunson. Just not at $100 million. (10-28-2022, 10:33 PM)KillerLeft Wrote: One of the better things in life right now is watching the Lakers start their season with 5 straight losses. That and watching the Suns winning big to start the season. Regular season Titan that will fall again in the playoffs. That's not a big contract. Tyler Herro just got way more, and I'd take Brunson over him 10/10 times. It's a little different but a lot of people used the contracts of Robinson, Harris and THJ's contracts to justify Bertans when we acquired him. In reality those are all contracts that are going to be very hard to move. I also figure to keep Brunson, we'd have to pony up a contract very similar to Herro's for JB to even consider it. When has a 19 year old sophomore lottery pick gotten waived just days after getting his option picked up?? What has Primo done? I was in rough shape in my teens and 20s. Something feels off here though. I don't think any team would waive you for mental health issues. They also removed his jersey from their official shop which still houses players that are no longer with the team. |
