RE: AROUND the NBA: CHA team president steps down - SleepingHero - 12-06-2023 Charlotte Hornets (@hornets) OFFICIAL: President & Vice Chairman Fred Whitfield is stepping down from his position and departing the organization after more than 17 years leading the team’s business operations. NBACentral (@TheDunkCentral) Adam Silver is working on expanding the draft to two nights “We're working on it. And it's something that we have to continue to work through with our network, ESPN and ABC, which broadcast the draft. And then, of course, with the Players Association.” RE: AROUND the NBA: DET still winless in NOV| CP3 has Nerve Injury - RGP1981 - 12-07-2023 (12-06-2023, 06:28 PM)HoosierDaddyKid Wrote: Rick Carlisle has the Pacers playing like Doug Moe's Denver Nuggets teams of the mid to late 80's. Pacers average 128 ppg. Carlisle's undoing, as always, will be his tendency to play with 3 guards instead of 2 guards + 1 properly sized 2-way SF. Haliburton with another 15ast 0tov game. His assist/tov-ratio on high volume is a bigger statistical outlier than all the scoring explosions or triple doubles that we have seen in the last few years. Tough blow for the 2-19 Pistons, who have lost 18 in row. Duren is averaging 12.6 PPG, 10.9 RPG, 1.4 BPG but has had injuries to both ankles this year. It is early, but I am more bearish on the Bucks being a legit top contender. First of all, Middleton needs to look like Middleton again. Maybe that will come but right now he doesn't pass the eye test. Last night, he took the inbounds pass when Dame wanted it. Shook off Dame, dribbled it down the court and then when he couldn't do anything, tried to pass the ball back to Dame. The ball was stolen and Middleton did not race back and when the layup was missed there was no one there to rebound the ball. That was one of the biggest plays of the game. RE: AROUND the NBA: CHA team president steps down| Silver working on expanding draft? - Chicagojk - 12-09-2023 NBA should be sending thank you flowers to Haliburtan and Lebron for what they did to the in season tournament and how it can continue to build moving forward. Haliburtan showed you can be an emerging star on a current non-contender team but can use this tournament to show the league you have arrived as an elite player. Seeing him say the tourney games were the biggest games of his career really sets a good message moving forward. With Lebron, you have one of the best players ever trying hard to win the in season championship. If he and the Lakers win the tournament, you can count in future years that current stars will want to make sure they get this checkmark as well. RE: AROUND the NBA: CHA team president steps down| Silver working on expanding draft? - MarkAguirreWrathofGod - 12-09-2023 Love you Chicagojk, so I don’t mean it personally, but I couldn’t disagree more. Halliburton saying these were the biggest games of his career just makes me feel sad for Halliburton that he hasn’t had the opportunity to be in any bigger games! I don’t see the tournament ever being anything. It is literally almost meaningless in its current configuration. You could make the argument that it benefited the Mavs not to have to play a better teams than Utah and Portland. And we got extra rest on either end. This is what I thought going into this season, but the players ARE taking it very seriously. Even the group play games were played much harder than random early season games usually are. I actually think the tournament has done quite a bit to make the first 3rd of the season more watchable, though I never would've expected that. I think it's the money. I think there's a card-playing, gambling, competitive culture in the NBA and that money on the line is worth playing hard to get for these guys. Half of them actually need the money, and the half that don't are treating it like they're playing golf for $1K per hole. It's just extra competition for the most competitive people on Earth. I still think they need to tweak things and time will tell if it is has legs. I think the first season has been a success though. I do agree with you about how the Mavs got extra rest and two lesser games. I wonder if you will see a veteran team in the future who loses their first game and then decides to semi tank to get that extra rest. I also think you need to find ways to incentivize the winners without making in junky. That part is a little tricky. You don't want to give them a playoff spot, but you need to find a way for the winner to have some juice to it. Not sure what the answer is.
