Anyone willing to pay this much for Reeves?

I expect him to get paid big money, especially from a team that needs some backcourt firepower. It will be interesting to see what kind of jump he could make given a bigger role, like Brunson

Lakers must be thinking that he's Caruso 2.0.  Drafted him, he turned out to have some real talent, and then can't keep him.

If DFS can get $55 million, then yea Reaves is worth it also.

Warning for those who don't like injuries.

Paul George might be out a while.

One of my key targets.  He would have been restricted, but I was hoping for Charlotte incompetence.   Sort of got the salary range I was expecting.

crazy that we have the same record as NO now.  A few weeks ago they were dead.   They really haven't been playing great ball either.   It is just the Mavs have been unable to win close games consistently.

Tonight is a must win for the Mavs.  Charlotte is off a back to back.  I hope I don't have that same feeling as the Utah game a few weeks ago where they had everyone out and playing a back to back and Dallas had to fight and claw to win.  This team really needs a few blowout wins to give them some confidence.   It appears to be a team not very confident down the stretch in games.

RE: AROUND the NBA: George hurts knee? | Jordan to sell CHA? - F Gump - 03-24-2023

This Mavs team is not a very good team. Not sure how they accomplish blowout wins, or why they would have confidence.

I have to think that teams who are starved for wins, like CHA, salivate at the prospect of playing such a bad team. When "Dallas" is on your schedule, you get to play against a team that can't defend, often failing to get back on defense and ending up letting you attack 5-on-4, and that gives you blow-by's in the half court. They also can't rebound. And the offense is mostly hero ball, with little passing or movement.

While I agree with the general notion that Mavs are simply not good, I don't agree with the description. Defense is bad, but mainly in halfcourt. 5 on 4 doesn't really happen as often as people are painting it. Mavs are third best in the league in opponent points from turnovers and middle of the pack (13th best) in opponent fastbreak points. They are bad in points in the paint and they foul a lot. My personal observation (can't find stats for that) is that they are especially horrible in PnR defense. Offense is good. You may not like it style wise, but the result is good. Mavs generate 5th most wide open looks and 8th most open looks. Just looking at counting stats from past games it is very obvious that Mavs don't have a problem scoring, even if only one superstar is playing.

"I can't say anything bad about Dallas," Brunson told B/R, "but obviously I wish things would've happened differently."

Brunson recalled how the matter played out.
"There were two times that I thought we had offers on the table before the season, and then around, I think December or January, they looked the other way," Brunson said. "They had every right in the world to do so. I don't blame them for making any business decisions. That's on them."

He was complimentary of his time in Dallas.
"At the same time, I respect them," Brunson told B/R. "They brought me into this league and jump-started my career. Business is business. My four years in Dallas were special. When I first got drafted there, I had that mindset of seeing myself being there for a very long time. My vet at the time, J.J. Barea, he taught me so much and he was there for such a long time. I wanted that role of being with the Mavericks for the long haul of my career. I truly loved that place. As I continued to get older, I got better, and I got more opportunities to showcase my game.

"Both coaching staffs I had there were amazing. Jason Kidd helped unlock something in me that I didn't think would happen that fast. I was growing as a player, but when the playoffs hit, he pushed me to a new level. It was great there. The whole organization and the city of Dallas was special to me and my family. Those four years were amazing."

I can probably never grocery shop again with the amount of crow that JB is feeding me.  The team hasn't felt right since he's been gone.  And then we lost God King.

Always loved his attitude and work ethic. A real leader and a winner.

That's exactly why he's thriving in NY. They saw the belief he could be the PG leader they were looking for and did everything they could to make sure they got him.  I don't know what type of season they would have had if they kept him, but I believe it would have surely turned out better than the current one.

Portland went into all tank mode. None of the starters playing tonight

Yeah but that was good news, cause the Bulls are one of our three main rivals alongside Utah and New Orleans.

Biyombo from the Suns had 17 pts, 13 rebounds and 5 blocks against Embid last night.  Maybe we can offer him a 4 year contract for 25 million this summer.

I'm assuming you're mocking the Mavs here with the 4/25 suggestion. But I do think Biyombo is potentially a decent pickup for a potion of the taxpayer MLE. I'd prioritize trade targets like Turner/Capela or younger free agents like Reid/Eubanks though.

They could have offered him 25/4 last summer and I´d have taken it over 18/3 for McGee. I said it the moment they signed McGee: the Suns will re-sign Biyombo for the minimum and he´ll be better than McGee. I´d say 29 franchises in the league knew this to be true, especially when you talk about looking for a defensive center first.

Bucks wanted him too, we just outbid them.
