RE: TRADE & FA: Mavs interested in Nerlens? Collins? Bojan? LaVine? Fred is not a negative asset. If they are moving him they would be looking for a first. A Fred for Din trade would require us to add something. I don't know why Toronto does that otherwise. A trade involving Siakam would have to be in the offseason. We don't have the assets to pull that trigger now. I would like to avoid putting both Hardy and Green in that deal if at all possible. Trading all of our assets and young players for a 29 year old non superstar seems like a desperate move. RE: TRADE & FA: Mavs interested in Nerlens? Collins? Bojan? LaVine? This was the same thinking for the Porzingis trade from the front office that we've all been bashing... You're talking about two guys that I would absolutely love to target but it's very fair to point out that you're talking about a path of no return and we can wind back up complaining about how there's no way to change the roster if it doesn't work. I don't know what the Bucks are thinking about Nwora vs Hill but I would assume they'd try to be moving Nwora as the salary match if they're done with him since he has guaranteed money next season. If he was available for something even remotely close to Joel, I´d be all over that. He doesn´t fit the Bucks timeline, but he´s a baller. Already a 38% career 3pt shooter in the NBA and his performances for Nigeria suggest there is more potential. 22/5 in the Olympics on 50% shooting, 48% from three. I don´t believe the Bucks want trash McGee now. I even question whether the reports were accurate to begin with. If I had just given McGee a three year contract, while superior young players sign minimum contracts and superior older players are out of the league, I´d also look for some justification for my stupidity: Oh the Bucks wanted him. If they turn McGee´s dumb contract into Ibaka/Nwora, I bow down in front of the altar of Nico. RE: TRADE & FA: Mavs interested in Nerlens? Collins? Bojan? LaVine? Very interesting excerpt: Quote:One of these two players are probably moving: Gary Trent Jr., Fred VanVleet. FVV would make a lot of sense here. Trent Jr. is very similar to THJ. Both are looking for massive paydays this offseason. FVV is the closest Brunson replacement the Mavs can find right now as well (and they'd ironically probably pay him more than Brunson this offseason). Raptors make too much sense for the Mavs. They have a star wing player who'd fit perfectly, a sub-star wing who'd also fit perfectly, and several key role guys the Mavs have been looking for. I wonder if there is a 3 team trade available here. One where NYK can get involved to remove the protections on the 2023 pick, and allows the Mavs to throw the farm at Pascal. I played around in the trade machine for about 10 minutes and came up with something like: Dallas gets: Siakam+FVV+Rose Raptors gets: Powell+Quickly+Reddish+THJ+Bertans+Frank (And Mavs picks 25+27+29). NYK gets: Gary Trent Jr. +Bullock+give up 2023 protections Raptors get their 3 firsts for Siakam. They get their mix of young talent in Quickly and Reddish. They get an expiring in Powell and Frank. They also add some shooting wings to replace GTJr in THJ+Bertans. They also reduce their payroll by 17 mil. Mavs add on about 12 mil in payroll and will pay a tax hit of ~72 million. That alone makes this deal unlikely but puts them right in line with a team like the Bucks. \] Knicks also find a way to turn Rose+Reddish+Quickly (all guys who've they've floated in trades since last year) into 2 wings that Thibs would love. It's a blockbuster deal and highly unrealistic. But I got my head in the clouds right now. Luka/Rose/Hardy FVV/Dinwiddie DFS/Green Siakam/Kleber Wood/McGee Pretty much makes this team an instant contender overnight. RE: TRADE & FA: Mavs interested in Nerlens? Collins? Bojan? LaVine? If we could get LeBron, Anthony Davis, and Russell Westbrook, it doesn't really matter about the other guys on the roster because they would be so good that they'd always win, and this board would have nothing to complain about. Right. RE: TRADE & FA: Mavs interested in Nerlens? Collins? Bojan? LaVine? They would be looking for 5 or 6 firsts for neutral contracts and you are dumping Bertans on them. If you replaced Bertans with SD and added Green and Hardy plus pick swaps it still is probably not enough. RE: TRADE & FA: Mavs interested in Nerlens? Collins? Bojan? LaVine? He will be another guy like Adams and Zubac and Gobert who look like a key piece for 82 games then instantly loses minutes/impact in the playoffs when teams pull him 30 feet away from the rim. RE: TRADE & FA: Mavs interested in Nerlens? Collins? Bojan? LaVine? Reddish? | TDL Feb 9 - ItsGoTime - 01-21-2023 OG is also the same height but bigger than DFS, 220 for DFS vs 232 for OG. If DFS position is best in the PF spot, there’s no reason to think OG couldn’t improve making that move too. Moving DFS as value to the Raps (so we don’t have to give up 3 FRPs worth of value up) or value to another team that gives up the FRP value to the Raps is another way of thinking about this. RE: TRADE & FA: Mavs interested in Nerlens? Collins? Bojan? LaVine? Reddish? | TDL Feb 9 - Moviemavguy - 01-21-2023 I feel the bind with league movement stems from the play in. There will almost always been more buyers than sellers now which makes it very hard to acquire players. And even tanking teams put too big of a price on any meaningful talent upgrades. The fact that Crowder still hasn't been traded is a big sign of this. The only semi-encouraging rumor was the raptors lowering the demand to 1 first for OG, and I'm not sure I even believe that. I know deadlines make deals, but teams are going to have to be more reasonable. I can't see any team giving up 2 firsts for Poetl. That's just nuts and SA really isn't in the driver's seat for that with his impending FA. RE: TRADE & FA: Mavs interested in Nerlens? Collins? Bojan? LaVine?
