Trade is not dependent on including Pinson's salary, but it is helpful regarding the TAX. So the message to Pinson is go or get cut, but either way there will be no Bird Rights after the TDL. I don't think it's been that long. I think his value has really tanked this season as he continues to hit 3s in the low 20s. RE: TRADE & FA: Mavs interested in Nerlens? Collins? Bojan? LaVine? Robinson's contract is atrocious and I'd want more than a protected first to take that on. RE: TRADE & FA: Mavs interested in Nerlens? Collins? Bojan? LaVine? He has his issues and at this point has been a disappointment, but there is something there. He´s the type of player and trade we need to nail to get us to that bigger trade eventually. Here is a trade that combines some of the recent rumours: To Dallas: Hayward McDaniels Hachimura Carey (to make the money work with Washington) To Washington: Bullock To Charlotte: Powell (expiring) Levert (expiring) saves money and generate ridiculous capspace. They´d have two max cap slots, potentially Ball/Wembanyama as a 1-2 punch. To Cleveland: THJ (much needed 6th man shooter off the bench for their deep play-off push) I think you can sell this to Cuban. You pretend that Hayward is the big prize, so he signs off on the trades, while you secretly hope Hachimura or/and McDaniels take the leap. RE: TRADE & FA: Mavs interested in Nerlens? Collins? Bojan? I don´t know. Most teams are aware of the Wizards situation with Kuzma/Hachimura. They never feel like a luxury tax team. They paid $7M once in 2017. So let´s assume Kuzma gets $25M and that Porzingis actually opts in. That leaves about the size of a Bullock salary to stay right on the projected tax line. If they extend Barton as well, they´ll probably have to go into the tax. So they do not have much leverage to balance a win now move with their cap structure. I don´t see much more than a 2nd round pick to be honest. Maybe the answer is another player on a rookie deal. That would take us out of the equation. Regardless it is these kind of moves, we have never looked at in the past, that are the only way out of this mess. Take advantage of teams with roster logjams or cap struggles and try to find hidden young potential. RE: TRADE & FA: Mavs interested in Nerlens? Collins? Bojan? LaVine? To keep the record straight, fiddling with the NY pick doesn't change anything. Not enough to bother with somehow revising it, not enough to stop a trade if one is available. The Mavs right now could trade the 3 picks (25, 27, 29) with conditions -- ones that wouldn't really matter. They have have to word precisely, such as "if 23 conveys, then 2 years, 4 years, 6 years after" (plus some more wording as to what happens if 23 does not convey to NY) with the other team comfortable the Mavs won't go in the tank and keep 23 pick from going to NY. That's so remote of a chance that it shouldn't matter. RE: TRADE & FA: Mavs interested in Nerlens? Collins? Bojan? LaVine? Reddish? | TDL Feb 9 - burekemde - 01-18-2023 Last game we were quiet behind with both defense and offense playing horrible basketball, then finally for the first time we finally played 3 skilled offensive players in the same lineup: CW, SD, Hardy. The result was a considerably more efficient offense, we got back and set defense and the defense was doing great, we got back in the game. Before Kidd chose to disturb that dynamic and losing the game at the end. But this was clear to me, that Hardy needed to start, and if anything shows it to me this season and many in past is that we need more than 2 skilled offensive players, and we need to have a smooth offense in order to excel at defense. Btw Hardy is here to stay, and he should start. A coach with confidence and able to see a bit in the future, would see that Hardy is a starter in this league. And that 4 skilled offensive players in the starting lineup would take this team to another level, offensively as well as defensively. Luka, SD, CW, Hardy, that's skills that will be hard to keep down. We need a player more to win the championship, and we absolutely need to make a move at the trade deadline. A skilled offensive player. We score with ease and super efficiency, and then we get back set the defense and we will be fresh to make the stop. |
