RE: TRADE & FA: Mavs interested in Nerlens? Collins? Bojan? LaVine? Reddish? | TDL Feb 9 - omahen - 01-18-2023 Stein says NY loves Bullock, but so does Mavs. Salaries don't match, so there has to be other pieces involved. If Spotrac numbers are correct (bbalreference has a bit different ones), Reddish plus Arcidiacono works. But are we really sure it is worth paying a couple of seconds in this deal? I am not. I would hope that if we are sending them a player they love that we wouldn't have to include a pick. I'd be more interested in a really opening up to take on Fournier as well if THEY are willing on sending picks. RE: TRADE & FA: Mavs interested in Nerlens? Collins? Bojan? LaVine? Reddish? | TDL Feb 9 - Okstate819 - 01-18-2023 Bullock/Bertans for Reddish/Fournier works. RE: TRADE & FA: Mavs interested in Nerlens? Collins? Bojan? LaVine? Reddish? | TDL Feb 9 - omahen - 01-18-2023 Reddish personally strikes me as a player that would fail next to Luka. I think Luka hates players with low basketball IQ - see "Joel" as a reference. I think low BBall IQ is the main Reddish weakness. He has phenomenal athletic abilities, but just can't put it together, often wanting to do too much. Bullock on the other hand knows exactly what his limitations are and does those couple of things he is good at. At least he was good at until this year. But what has a higher probability - Bullock refinding his stroke or Reddish suddenty becoming a totally different player? RE: TRADE & FA: Mavs interested in Nerlens? Collins? Bojan? LaVine? If we move THJ to Cleveland for LeVert? Luka, Fournier SD, Green LeVert, Reddish DFS, Maxi Wood, Powell Another option is Rose, but Knicks are not taking Bertans for expiring Rose. At least not without FRP included RE: TRADE & FA: Mavs interested in Nerlens? Collins? Bojan? LaVine? Do we not feel this is the type of player you were mentioning in the other thread, someone you take a chance on low? Not saying he would work out but if you squint hard enough there's a good basketball player in there somewhere. RE: TRADE & FA: Mavs interested in Nerlens? Collins? Bojan? LaVine? If we move THJ to Cleveland for LeVert? Agree. Fournier is a far more usable player than Bertans over the next two seasons which is why this swap makes sense. You just need to move out THJ for something else. RE: TRADE & FA: Mavs interested in Nerlens? Collins? Bojan? Or maybe have the least objectionable salary, from NY's perspective, to accompany that 2nd round pick? RE: TRADE & FA: Mavs interested in Nerlens? Collins? Bojan? LaVine? Reddish? | TDL Feb 9 - Scott41theMavs - 01-18-2023 If Nico can work this Reddish thing into our getting our first rounder back, that opens up huge trade possibilities - right now. BTW, Bullock for Reddish/Quickley works in the trade machine works. Throw in our first and we'll think about it. Come on, Nico, put on your Ainge!!!! RE: TRADE & FA: Mavs interested in Nerlens? But what has a higher probability - Bullock refinding his stroke or Reddish suddenty becoming a totally different player? If it was for Bullock, it would appear it wouldn't be the type of move Luka appears to be pushing for immediate pushback. Reddish is sort of a flip of a lottery ticket. It is interesting following the talk of Reddish throughout the years. There were some scouts (some big ones too) who watch the high school game as a full time job who thought Reddish would wind up being the best pro out of that Duke team (Williamson and Barrett). There were some of their contemporaries who thought the same as well. Reddish may be a better player in theory than he actually is. He was billed as the wing that everyone is looking for with Allen Houston shooting. He just has never shot the ball well and there is strong indication he just may not know how to play. Plus, there may be an ego thing as well. On the other hand, you could argue now is the time to go after him. When he was traded from ATL, the case could be made it was the best move for both parties. Reddish wanted more playing time and ATL had players they liked better. Plus, they got a first round pick out of it. With the Knicks, he has had some moments. But he has been benched for a team who has taken off since he has been out of the rotation. Plus, it appears the interest in him in very low. He has a real chance of thinking for the first time that he may be running out of options in the NBA if his next stop or two does not work out. So, you could say if there is ever a time to buy on him, now is the time. RE: TRADE & FA: Mavs interested in Nerlens? Collins? Bojan? LaVine? Man, you want the moon. I'd be happy with Reddish for a 2nd. Isn't that the kind of move the "young players" crowd has been begging for? RE: TRADE & FA: Mavs interested in Nerlens? Collins? Bojan? If we move THJ to Cleveland for LeVert? I wouldn’t place any value into Reddish. But, NY needs to put him in a deal in such a way that they don’t look like idiots for giving a first for him. I would give value for Quickley. Maybe that value is Reggie. Would LOVE to get our pick back. Maybe the THJ deal turns into a 3-way and LeVert ends up expiring in NY and we take Fournier and get our pick back. NY gets Reggie/LeVert/Cleveland 2nd and gives Reddish/Quickley/Dallas 1st Dallas gets Reddish/Quickley/Dallas 1st and gives THJ/Reggie Cleveland swaps LeVert/2nd for THJ Luka/Quickley/Frank SD/Fournier(Hardy) Green/Reddish DFS/Maxi Wood/Powell AND, we are now free to trade picks RE: TRADE & FA: Mavs interested in Nerlens? I admit I'm not familiar with his game, but fans in both ATL and NY seem to think he has deserved more opportunity than he has gotten. I think he's a reasonably good stab a low risk, high reward, scoring wing. But again, I'm not super familiar with him. RE: TRADE & FA: Mavs interested in Nerlens? Collins? Bojan? LaVine? What I could see is a fairly complex deal where he’s included and NY can argue that they got value for him. Maybe he gets some developmental time here, maybe not. But in the deal I proposed above, he ends up being expiring filler who might be retained this summer and might not. |
