RE: TRADE & FA: Mavs interested in Nerlens? Collins? Bojan? LaVine? | THJ to MIA? - KillerLeft - 01-11-2023 Can I just point out that the two rumors we've heard about interest in THJ have both been about PLAYOFF CONTENDERS from the East? Think about that. Basically, they want THJ so they can be MORE competitive. Is it possible that THJ is better and more valuable than the constant complaining would lead us to believe? Is it possible that with the impending salary cap increase, his contract is a positive? RE: TRADE & FA: Mavs interested in Nerlens? Collins? Bojan? I can't imagine them finding a taker at that price. RE: TRADE & FA: Mavs interested in Nerlens? Collins? Bojan? LaVine? | THJ to MIA? - numnuts23 - 01-11-2023 3 team trade - works on $ - can add picks as needed Heat: THJ, Bertans, Okoro Mavs: Love, Lowry, LaVert and Robinson Cavs: SD, Powell, Bullock and Jovic Heat do it as they get off the Robinson contract and get back a scorer in THJ and potential in Okoro. Mavs get 2 secondary ballhandlers, scoring 4 and take on the worst contract in the deal. Cavs turn 2 expiring contracts into perfect off the bench scorer, high energy rim runner and good potential player in Jovic...plus whatever they can get out of Reggie. RE: TRADE & FA: Mavs interested in Nerlens? Collins? Bojan? LaVine? | THJ to MIA? - omahen - 01-11-2023 I think Robinson is an ok player and I think he would get better looks in Dallas. Of course I would want more for that contract. Unprotected 2023 pick would be awesome, but I doubt Miami would even consider that pick. Does any of their development projects entice you? Yurtseven? Jovič? Strus is probably off the table. RE: TRADE & FA: Mavs interested in Nerlens? Collins? Bojan? Is it possible that with the impending salary cap increase, his contract is a positive? Ya it's most definitely possible but I would also say that it's very likely these rumors may be coming from our camp as well. He was also our most rumored player last year. Really not trying to bash Hardaway in this post and acknowledge much of our success is tied to his play. I do however think that this front office understands that this entire roster probably needs to be flipped over quickly while Luka is under contract and Hardaway is the easiest player to move without attaching picks at the moment. I'm sure they're shopping pretty much everyone but Hardaway has the most value for this deadline (and part of that is his salary which I've always though is fair because of the way it descends although I would add that the big cap jump will be the offseason that he expires when the new tv deal lands so not sure how much that is being factored in by other teams). Collins? Bojan? LaVine? | THJ to MIA? - Chicagojk - 01-11-2023 wonder if this is impacting the Cavs looking to move Levert? Rubio would be another ball handler and in time could take minutes from Levert. https://twitter.com/wojespn/status/1613245178973675525 Did anyone see the Hawks signed Derrick Favors to a 10 day deal yesterday as well? Seems convenient. I think Tim Hardaway Junior is the worst basketball player in history. Worse than Satnam, worse than Antoine Rigodeau, and far, far worse than Jim Spanarkel. His armpits smell like an unwashed camel, he's a secret cancer in the locker room, and he can't play basketball, either. I think Tim Hardaway Junior is the greatest NBA player since Michael Jordan. If I had to choose between Timmy and my wife... I'd really miss her. When they finally unify all the world governments into a single kingdom, I really hope Timmy gets that top spot. RE: TRADE & FA: Mavs interested in Nerlens? Collins? Bojan? LaVine? | THJ to MIA? - HAguiar95 - 01-11-2023 DFS/THJ for Lowry/Martin/'23 MIA 1st (unprotected). We could make bids for some available guys for a 1st (my prefered position would be Forward SF/PF). Lowry/Dinwiddie Green/Hardy Doncic/Martin Kleber/Bertans Wood/Powell RE: TRADE & FA: Mavs interested in Nerlens? Collins? Bojan? LaVine? | THJ to MIA? - Chicagojk - 01-11-2023 It always fun to check out other teams fans reactions when they are linked to a Dallas player (non Luka). Suffice to say, there is not a lot of excitement to the rest of the roster. RE: TRADE & FA: Mavs interested in Nerlens? Collins? Bojan? RE: TRADE & FA: Mavs interested in Nerlens? Collins? Bojan? LaVine? | THJ to MIA? - DanSchwartzgan - 01-11-2023 Don’t see any way in the world Miami-THJ rumor is about Lowry. Much more likely it is about Robinson who will miss 4+ weeks and wasn’t exactly killing it anyway. Contract is uglier than THJ’s. The question is what does the rest of the deal look like because I don’t think Dallas does this straight up. Maybe Robinson + Miami’s 2023. If the pick is unprotected, it unlocks our ability to trade 23/25/27 without dicking around with NY because the future picks don’t have to be ours. They just can’t be provisional. Maybe a Jovic for Hardy swap? Maybe a Dedmon for McGee swap? There are all sorts of ways to shift a little value toward Dallas. My guess is it just has to be done without hurting the ability of Miami to compete. Age wise, they are in a more desperate scenario than Dallas is to win now and a THJ for Robinson deal would help them do that. RE: TRADE & FA: Mavs interested in Nerlens? Collins? Bojan? I think this, as some have suggested, is media posturing by someone. But the Jovic for Hardy thing. Are we sure that shifts value our way? I'd like to have him included if we take on Robinson. But Hardy should stay in that scenario. RE: TRADE & FA: Mavs interested in Nerlens? Collins? Bojan? I honestly wouldn't be against it as long as the Mavs get some draft capital out of the deal. Lowry even at his age would be a great contributor and can move SD to the bench where he belongs. Something like THJ for Lowry+2026 FRP would be a solid deal. RE: TRADE & FA: Mavs interested in Nerlens? Collins? Bojan? Been trying to wrap my head around this. Wouldn't the protection STILL mess with this? I think it would put us in a great position because now we can actually dip our toes in this draft and get an asset and then convey the pick to new york and go make a big splashy trade but my brain keeps coming back to the fact that we still have to wait for the draft and that pick to convey. If we take protections off the pick we owe NY then I follow, is that what you're getting at? RE: TRADE & FA: Mavs interested in Nerlens? Collins? Bojan? LaVine? | THJ to MIA? - F Gump - 01-11-2023 I don't see how making MIA better in such a deal DR-THJ is a plus for Mavs. It sure doesn't look like that deal improves the Mavs nor enhances their future. The trade as proposed doesn't free up the 2025 pick for a TDL deal. You'd have to land a pick in not only 2023 but also 2024 and 2025. The only other avenue is to unlock the pick to NY. I really think the Mavs will just wait, rather than deal with all that. And it's not like they need to do that in general. It has no value to them at all unless they have a blockbuster TDL deal (right now, about to happen) that is on the table and only contingent on a 2023-25-27 set of picks without contingencies. Working under the assumption that the only way forward is a trade that might be true but an additional pick and whatever young talent they could land would really help to retool. Mavs are old. Basically all core guys expect for Luka are on the wrong side of 30. I don´t think the Mavs will even consider it because I tend to agree that for them the only way forward is a big trade but we should at least mention that it is an option to trade for a draft pick and actually use the pick instead of just viewing it as an trade asset. |
