RE: TRADE & FA: Mavs interest in Bojan? - KillerLeft - 09-22-2022 Bring me Conley or Clarkson, MBT, and I'll stop harping on how badly you botched the Brunson situation. Do it. Do it now. Hell I'm down for both if it only costs us Green and maybe a second rounder or 2 with the way we throw those around THJ + Powell + Green for Conley and Clarkson works moneywise Only real holdup would probably that extra year of THJ money RE: TRADE & FA: Mavs interest in Bojan? - omahen - 09-22-2022 (09-22-2022, 11:43 AM)Scott41theMavs Wrote: This is the thing. I was about to say that would merit a first, but then I remembered how Crowder's value has tanked. If the two principals other than Powell and Crowder are Bertans and Clarkson, then yeah, I would include a first for those two benefits. Any other combo, nope. Over the summer I would have done that with the 2022 pick but I'm anxious about including future picks without a starter coming back even if Bertans is leaving. If we want to dump salary hopefully it can just be THJ RE: TRADE & FA: Mavs interest in Bojan? - ItsGoTime - 09-22-2022 (09-22-2022, 07:25 PM)Scott41theMavs Wrote: I was about to say that would merit a first, but then I remembered how Crowder's value has tanked.Ya, was trying to play with the numbers to not make that the case, but it’s the cleanest way for Saric, Powell and Bertans (who is owed only $1M more in guaranteed salary to Conley) and draft capital to go to the Jazz/Conley to the Suns/Crowder and Clarkson to the Mavs. I can’t give up a FRP for 2 players that are highly likely to leave after a year (Crowder won’t start due to DFS and I don’t think this is where Clarkson will want to stay) plus they aren’t as good individually as Bojan. Bertans contract is pretty bad though so the most I would give up is the 2 seconds we have available. RE: TRADE & FA: Mavs interest in Bojan? - Jason Terry - 09-23-2022 I’m surprised the Jazz didn’t want a late first. I guess it shows the importance of cap space. The move lowers this years cap by $5 million and they don’t add anything meaningful to next year. I doubt any of the tax paying contenders were willing to go anything less than even salary in a swap. Utah was needing to cut players and eat dead money. They were right up against the line and are hard capped after the Sexton deal. So increased flexibility, but for what? RE: TRADE & FA: Mavs interest in Bojan? - Chicagojk - 09-23-2022 Pistons have a pretty deep roster mixed with youngsters and veterans. That could be a good or bad thing. Most of their veterans are on shorter deals but with Bogdanovich, Noel, Burks and Kemba (if kept) minutes may be tough to come by for some with all their youngsters. If the season goes bad again, the expiring vets are a good trade fodder at TDL for additional draft capital or young players. Sometimes capspace is what teams want and will overpay for, but not all the time. It’s all about timing. If Cuban can be persuaded to add cash to a deal for Clarkson or Conley, is that of interest to Utah? Powell/Bertans and cash for Conley/Gay gives them $1.7M cap now and gets them off Gay’s 2 year commitment. As said previously, Bertans money isn’t a big issue, they can buy him out in the offseason just like they could Conley and Bertans helps with their goal to tank. It gives us a ball handler and wing to accomplish the goals they set. Not that Gay is a playoff contributing wing, but Bullock and DFS would be supported on both ends having Conley and Maxi (now that there’s big support, he can play some big wing minutes) on both sides of them (so they don’t HAVE to play 40 mpg). Gay would be a decent regular season player and injury insurance. RE: TRADE & FA: Bojan to DET - ItsGoTime - 09-23-2022 (09-23-2022, 08:51 AM)ItsGoTime Wrote: That tweet is interesting. That essentially makes him cost that much less and the buy out only needs to be the $17M he’ll be owed as opposed to paying Conley $22M this year and buying him out at $15M next year. Lots of money relief for a tanking team with money issues. Could also just do a simple Powell for Clarkson. This wasn't "cap space" gained. It was ~7M cash, pure money, and it's easy to forget that money matters to owners (just like it does to all of us). Bogey was going to get paid about 20, and since they will be tanking, not much value to them. Now they will be paying ~13 (net cost, since Lee salary effectively being paid by DET). If they can now trade Olynyk for a lower salary, no doubt they would do it. Not that I think the Mavs can use him, but they could get Olynyk for Powell fairly easily, I bet. Are you kidding? A fourth, emergency big who can shoot? Insurance for Kleber and Wood? If all it takes is Powell, sign me up. Would rather go for Conley or Clarkson as I've said 100 times, but I'm of the opinion that you can literally NEVER have enough shooting. Two-way shooters are better, but someone has to be the 4th big. Detroit's roster has totally flipped (for the better I might add) from just 3 or 4 years ago when SVG was at the helm. I think they'll be fun to watch. RE: TRADE & FA: Bojan to DET - ItsGoTime - 09-23-2022 A trade that cleans up the rest of the offseason for teams with rumors out there. Suns get: Mike Conley, Lakers second Jazz get: Russell Westbrook, Dwight Powell, Mavs(2) and Lakers seconds Lakers get: Olynyk, THJ, Saric and Gay Mavs get: Crowder, Clarkson and Vanderbilt Luka/Clarkson SD/Green RB/Crowder DFS/Maxi McGee/Wood |
