RE: AROUND the NBA: Jokic intends to extend in DEN - VintagePejav2 - 05-01-2022 Kane Fitzgerald strikes again. This is where not having another established scorer like THJ will hurt us. We have no bench, especially considering Dinwiddie is essentially another starter in mintues. Dallas went 0-3 vs Phoenix this year. Pretty sure his point in bolding THIS DAL team is that none of those games were against the post-trade / current line-up. The first two games were not only in November, but Luka didn't play. KP was featured heavily. Third game was in January and while Luka did play, KP and THJ were still getting heavy minutes. Third game was in January and while Luka did play, KP and THJ were still getting heavy minutes.Which is why our best chance is to come out and steal game 1. Suns are already penciled in to the west finals, so we come out and do what was done to Boston. This is the path with the closeout game 6 at home. Win 2 of the 4 in between. It would take near perfect basketball from us. Our plan should be to attack Paul and Booker relentlessly with Luka and Brunson. Tire them out on that end and use Green and Bullock to guard Paul full court every game. Dorian on Booker. Green being our “Alvarado” and providing 20 min of game changing defense on Paul. Powell has an important role in this one. The PnR will be heavy on both sides. Without Gobert he must be able to get to the rim on Ayton for us to have a chance. Especially early in the games. Maxi is a key to the series. If Maxi can hold up in the 2nd halves and hit his shots, then it forces Ayton to the perimeter more and keeps the lane open for us to score Dinwiddie is another X-factor. They could put Bridges on Brunson and trap Luka. Dinwiddie has the best opportunity to make them pay with his minutes. Possibly even more of the 3 guard lineup if the offense gets stale Brunson/Bridges, Luka/Ayton, Igor, Kidd…….lots of interesting connections to Phoenix. This will be a great test for us. Really exciting to see what this group can do vs a complete team RE: AROUND the NBA: Jokic intends to extend in DEN - windjc - 05-01-2022 If Bridges can shut down Brunson then Brunson doesn't deserve to get paid. I think Brunson deserves to get paid. I'm happy to ride that pony. But we have several more players than the other teams remaining in playoffs capable reaching 15-17 pts any game dictated by how defense plays: Bullock, Maxi, Powell, DFS. Agree on bench tough. Green needs to step up and show why we drafted him over Bane. This could be difference to these playoffs. We probably need some production out of Burke as well. Bane is averaging over 21ppg in the playoffs. RE: AROUND the NBA: Jokic intends to extend in DEN - Jommybone - 05-02-2022 Kleber and Conley both scored 20 last series. RE: AROUND the NBA: Jokic intends to extend in DEN - windjc - 05-02-2022 What happened to everyone on here's favorite pick to sure thing to win the championship the Boston Celtics? I thought they had the best defense in history and were definitely going to crush everyone including the Mavs if we made it that far. Hmmmm. Crow anyone? I can't wait to listen to the incoming revisionist history. Trade for the hot garbage of Gobert?!? To be fair, the Warriors are probably the best spot for Gobert. The only thing they've been missing since 2015 was a defensive center who doesn't care to score. Gobert is the ultimate version of that. They also have the personnel to hide his shortcomings quite easily. Add on top of the fact they can probably send the best package out of everyone by sending 2 of Wiseman, Kuminga, Moody (or maybe all 3) and their core still be untouched it just makes too much sense not to. Kinda redundant to base their defense off of one game. They're still the top rated defense this season. They came off a series where they slowed KD and Kyrie down, and probably were still hungover from that series sweep. Giannis is a different animal, who does what he does vs most teams. And the Bucks are much bigger with more length and girth than the Nets. Nobody said Boston has the best defense in history (hyperbole). Let's see how the rest of the series plays out, it's too early to eat crow before sticking a fork in them. Even "Warriors might have interest?" is not correctly relating the "info" offered in the podcast, in which the participants speculated on who they think might have a use for Gobert, if he's made available. Pure speculation, by media. They talked about what offers or interest might look like if made by Dallas, Toronto, Atlanta, Charlotte, Golden State, etc and they speculate and question what sort of trade match, the fit, the interest etc. One interesting note: Even though they named several ideas for possible interest, they don't think the market will be that robust, or aggressive, because of his contract. Their idea was that if he's made available and ANY team really prioritizes him, they can probably get him.
