RE: AROUND the NBA: AD out at least 4 weeks w/foot sprain | CP3 out 6-8 weeks - Jason Terry - 02-21-2022 (02-21-2022, 09:27 AM)DanSchwartzgan Wrote: New Danny Leroux article out looking at Summer 22 cap room. Dallas is one of 10 teams (1/3 of the league) that is into the tax and can only spend the TP MLE of $6.3mm. Doing so is VERY expensive for most of these teams, none of which is close to the tax line that a small move would get them under it.Big contract(THJ, SD, DB) plus 22 FRP is the framework for the next deal. The contract going out depends on what the other team wants and what player/position we get back. Burke and Brown as additional salary matching contracts. Green and Bullock as assets possibly added While we wouldn’t get down near the tax line matching a trade for these guys, i think we can save around $6-8 million by the time we’re done this summer. That’s massive savings in tax. We end up somewhere around $162 million and Cuban pays it RE: AROUND the NBA: AD out at least 4 weeks w/foot sprain | CP3 out 6-8 weeks - omahen - 02-21-2022 (1) Shams Charania on Twitter: "Just in: Goran Dragic is signing with the Brooklyn Nets, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium." / Twitter RE: AROUND the NBA: AD out at least 4 weeks w/foot sprain | CP3 out 6-8 weeks - omahen - 02-21-2022 (1) Adrian Wojnarowski on Twitter: "ESPN Sources: The Portland Trail Blazers are signing two-way rookie forward Trendon Watford to a new four-year, $5.8M deal that’ll include two non-guaranteed seasons. Sad cause he was actually showing some flashes of growth for the Blazers. That's why being a reserve at the end of the bench is maddening, because if you get hurt and are out a while, you are subjected to being waived. RE: AROUND the NBA: AD out at least 4 weeks w/foot sprain | CP3 out 6-8 weeks - Chicagojk - 02-21-2022 I am pretty surprised he chose the nets. I forgot about the Nash connection. While the Nets still may be the most talented team, they seem like a long shot to win a title this year. Plus, they don't feel like a fun situation to be in this year. I thought Milwaukee was the cleanest choice. Although I am surprised Miami did not go after him. In MIL, the ball is going to be in Giannis, Middleton and Jrue's hands but I thought there could be a role for him there. If he is still a good player, he may even finish games with MIL RE: AROUND the NBA: AD out at least 4 weeks w/foot sprain | CP3 out 6-8 weeks - Chicagojk - 02-21-2022 That sucks for DSJ. I mentioned a week or two ago that he was going to have an opportunity to put some good tape out there for the rest of the year. Now there is a real chance he may not be in the league next year. Maybe someone brings him into camp and he can earn a spot. Although, he could be the first lottery pick in the 2017 draft out of the league. Nice job Mark and Donnie (psst...I really like DSJ in college/HS though). The highest guy in that draft currently out of the league is Justin Jackson. Nice job Mark and Donnie. Looking back at that draft, there was some solid guys in the mid to late first...mixed with several guys who never made it. John Collins-19, Jarrett Allen- 22, OG Anunoby-23, Kyle Kuzma-27, Derrick White-29, Josh Hart- 30. I would take anyone close to those guys if we kept our pick this year. Good players are out there in every draft...you just need to find them. Maybe someone brings him into camp and he can earn a spot. I can't help but think what if the Mavs would have made that trade down with POR instead of SAC. Mav's drafting at #15 and #20 instead of Smith at #9. Whom might have the Mav's drafted? Any of the 2 you mentioned above in bold and OMG... RE: AROUND the NBA: AD out at least 4 weeks w/foot sprain | CP3 out 6-8 weeks - F Gump - 02-21-2022 Worried about DSJ? How did his situation change at all, by being waived? He still gets the same money, whether he's on the POR roster or not. It was a contract that was ending at season's end, after which he's a free agent, and that's the very same thing ahead for him now. He was not going to show anything to teams while he's injured. Unless the injury was career threatening, he's in the same place he was before - he'll be looking for a job in the summer, and be evaluated based on his play this season. Plus, if he heals before season's end, he can sign with someone else, if they need help. He made the POR team on a make-good deal, which was all he could get the last time he was a free agent (and good for him for sticking), and he was getting regular minutes as a backup. But he was just another guy. Weak shooting, lots of turnovers, meh defense. To be fair, he got waived because the Blazers needed a roster spot, and with him injured and his contract expiring, they might as well jettison him. But his numbers weren't flattering, either. In hindsight, what an awful pick he turned out to be with pick 8. It was close though RE: AROUND the NBA: AD out 4wks w/foot injury| CP3 out 6-8 weeks - omahen - 02-22-2022 I don't understand this one. What kind of contract did he sign? Two-way or regular? (1) Adrian Wojnarowski on Twitter: "Blazers are also signing G League guard Brandon Williams on a two-year, two-way contract, sources tell ESPN." / Twitter Based on some conversations on this board I was under impression that teams can't sign 2-way players anymore. Josh Green's career may have been saved by Rick leaving town RE: AROUND the NBA: AD out 4wks w/foot injury| CP3 out 6-8 weeks - ItsGoTime - 02-22-2022 (02-22-2022, 03:39 PM)MrGoat Wrote: Was it a bad pick, or was it really on Rick? What I will say is the approach should not be the same for every young player. They will all react differently to different styles. Flexible is the recent word used since the trade. I think it’s an appropriate word to use when developing young players too. Also, there is plenty of evidence to suggest playing young players early in games could help them develop as well as not hinder the outcome of the game drastically. WCS went radio silent than after he was released he started doing basketball workout videos on instagram. He may have waited a few weeks, but it was just strange. Josh Green's career may have been saved by Rick leaving town I think the reason most of our picks busted is because most of them were in the 20s. If you want to be upset about our first rounder not playing a lot of minutes last year, blame the FO, not Rick. We got a young, raw inexperienced player with limited development opportunities (Covid) and a situation where every win counted (to avoid play-in). He got some minutes during the Covid games and was not ready. Bane or Bey would have gotten plenty of minutes last year. He didn't get much playing time early this year with Kidd until the Covid games where he showed he was more ready. Two-way or regular? https://pr.nba.com/nba-board-of-governors-play-in-roster-rules-2021-22-season/ I see the confusion. Normally the deadline is Jan 15th for two-way contracts. This season is an exception due to COVID. EDIT: So the Mavs have been quite lazy in filling their last 2 way spot. As we all suspected. |
