I think we are slowly starting to see our core take form this year and as you said we can add to it. A quality PF or Center is the next piece and maybe THJ can be an asset to bring that to us. Would rather the Mavs just try and get Turner. I think both sides want him to be a Mav long term. He might get a bit of an overpay but he's desirable enough that almost any reasonable contract he gets will be easy to move should the need arise. Every away and national broadcast I watch showers JB with praise. My guess is he would have been traded at the TDL if both sides didn't think they could work something out in the summer. You know who might have interest in the 3-point shooting of THJ (or Bullock) and still have cap room…Detroit. I don't know if Det has enough ammo to get both Brunson+THJ and make the deal sweet enough for the Mavs. Unless they included Grant. But even then Grant wants to be a 2nd/1st option. Don't think he'd just slide in here and be happy being basically the 3rd/4th option on any given night. Bey would be an interesting addition. Would finally put to rest "the one that got away" talk (mainly by me). Were DET to add some picks (a protected first maybe) and take back Sterling Brown now we're getting somewhere. Grant+Stewart+lottery protected 1st for THJ+Brunson+Brown. Mavs would still be about 2 million over the Apron, 5 mill above the tax, but maintain 2023 flexibility with this trade. There are also some persuasive dudes out there preparing right now to recruit him in the offseason. I haven't seen any quotes from him since he said he wants to run HIS team toward the beginning of the season. Only option is to resign him at this point. Unfortunately, the ball for this option is entirely in JB's court. Have to also agree with this. I do think most of the stuff we've been hearing has been what other teams want. Nothing from Brunsons camp. Fischer in his article only stated that the Knicks want him bad. Now if Brunson wanted to go to the Knicks then that's a different story, but we haven't heard anything of the sort. His agent would be foolish to say now "Yeah my client 100% wants to return to Dallas." You're just asking for a lowball at that point. My prediction is, JB plays "hardball" Mavs offer him his 4/85, he accepts and we all move on. Don't really think other teams have a chance. I was coming from the angle that DET wouldn't mind the deal since they get their starting 1 and 2 next to Cade, and open up a spot to draft their replacement PF since 4 of the top 5 prospects are bigs in this years draft. Honestly though, I don't really want to trade Brunson. I don't think the Mavs would have kept him if they didn't think he was interested in staying. https://twitter.com/coopmavs/status/1504282213151608832 RE: MAVS NEWS: 18th O, 6th D | tied for 4th in West | 26-8 since Dec 31 - Omega_Supreme - 03-17-2022 (03-16-2022, 08:17 PM)mvossman Wrote: Disagree on most of this. I watch a lot of basketball to know that Washington was a dumpster fire this year. They gave John Wall a super max contract so lets not act like they are a stable organization. I watch a lot of eastern conference basketball and I knew that Dinwiddie was better than his showing and just needed a new environment so unlike you I thought he was a undervalued asset and I thought KP was an overvalued asset. Even if it was a 1 for 1 trade of Dinwiddie for KP I still love that swap. Bertans is just a sweetener and shooters are always well paid and often hard to find in today's game. Both fit major needs with our team. As for THJ I disagree with you there as well. You don't walk away from THJ with Brunson being a unknown without Dinwiddie. Dinwiddie is insurance against Brunson and pushes THJ down the pecking order making room for Josh Green. Like I said we can agree to disagree but the Mavs won the trade and KP was injured for another 2 weeks and why should we take another chance on him not getting injured again. SMH, I commend the MBT for finally moving on. |
