RE: MAVS NEWS: Season Opener @ ATL, Thurs, Oct 21, 6:30 pm, TNT - Hypermav - 10-18-2021 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VA2Et1kP8LE&t=176s&ab_channel=NBAEurope RE: MAVS NEWS: Season Opener @ ATL, Thurs, Oct 21, 6:30 pm, TNT - Jommybone - 10-18-2021 (10-18-2021, 01:16 PM)fifteenth Wrote: Hold on a sec. Did you watch JKidd his first years with the Mavs? He couldn't shoot, but he wasn't in the same boat as Josh, or anyone else on the team, really. He was a rookie star, top PG, as soon as he stepped on the floor, even without a shot. No, no! I didn’t mean to suggest Josh Green is on the same level as young Kidd! I meant, like young Kidd, he can do everything well except shoot. Which makes me wonder how Coach Kidd will value and use Josh, who can also do everything well but shoot, even if he can’t do it on a hall-of-fame-Jason-Kidd level. RE: MAVS NEWS: Season Opener @ ATL, Thurs, Oct 21, 6:30 pm, TNT - DanSchwartzgan - 10-19-2021 Five Bold Predictions from the article below (and my quick response): 1. Mav's win 55 games (Yes and third in the West are my predictions also) 2. Brunson wins Sixth Man (Yes, and gets a $17mm deal...hopefully here) 3. Luka averages 10 Dimes and wins MVP (Yes on the dimes, No on the MVP. I think his scoring average and usage may drop a hair) 4. KP is an All-Star (Maybe. The Kawhi spot is open. KP would be competing against Towns and Porter Jr. A Zion injury would make this a Yes) 5. Dallas wins the West and makes the NBA Finals (No. Too much to hope for this soon. I do agree there is a window. Losing in the Conf. Finals is more likely) https://thesmokingcuban.com/posts/dallas-mavericks-2022-bold-predictions RE: MAVS NEWS: Season Opener @ ATL, Thurs, Oct 21, 6:30 pm, TNT - Tyler - 10-19-2021 https://twitter.com/MavsPR/status/1450509587287773189 RE: MAVS NEWS: Season Opener @ ATL, Thurs, Oct 21, 6:30 pm, TNT - StrandedOnBeauboisHill - 10-19-2021 Pretty bullish move... Also worried that having Bullock/Green/Brown on the roster for multiple years is DFS insurance for his upcoming free agency. Has anyone found the details? RE: MAVS NEWS: Season Opener @ ATL, Thurs, Oct 21, 6:30 pm, TNT - F Gump - 10-19-2021 (10-19-2021, 12:33 PM)StrandedOnBeauboisHill Wrote: Pretty bullish move... If you're referring to the Green "extension" (so-called, in that prior post, but mislabeled) ... It was not actually an "extension" (which would involve adding years to Green's 4 year rookie scale contract, and which is not legal at this point). It was merely an exercise of the team's option for year 3 of Green's rookie scale contract. Just a routine, common, normal procedural move, being done in the window when these are supposed to be done. It's super rare that a year 3 option is declined - it only happens when a player is an abysmal utter bust in their rookie season, and so bad that it looks like they have no chance of becoming an NBA-caliber player. Makes way more sense. Pretty bad wording the way they reported it then. RE: MAVS NEWS: Season Opener @ ATL, Thurs, Oct 21, 6:30 pm, TNT - SleepingHero - 10-19-2021 (10-19-2021, 07:32 AM)DanSchwartzgan Wrote: Five Bold Predictions from the article below (and my quick response):Going to add my own thoughts on these bold predictions. 1. Yes. If everyone remains healthy, this team can push for 60 given we're playing Houston, New Orleans, and San Antonio 4x each. 2. I don't see it. I think it's more likely THJ becomes a 6MOY before Brunson. I definitely see a 17 mil deal for him though and thats a bit rich for me. 3. Yes to the 10 dimes a game, I think he can go for 12. Yes to the MVP. If Luka averages an absurd 25/7/12 and the team is pushing for 60 wins thats an MVP season to me. 4. KP becoming an All-Star again means his play has taken a noticeable step forward. I saw some flashes of that in pre-season. If thats any indication then he has a real shot given that Kawhi and possibly Zion are out. 5. I can't sit here and say I realistically expect the Mavs to make it out of the west and win the finals this year. It's a long season though and there's a chance. I'll agree with you here Dan and say losing in the Conf. Finals is more likely than making the finals! RE: MAVS NEWS: Season Opener @ ATL, Thurs, Oct 21, 6:30 pm, TNT - michaeltex - 10-19-2021 I, like everybody else here, would like to see DAL make it to the finals and hopefully bring home Larry-O #2. But I'm still enjoying the fact that DAL will go into most games as a favorite and the team will go into most contests expecting to win. Stay focused and avoid injury/COVID bugs and I think it's a high seed and a deep post season run. LALs I predict to be a mess. DEN is without Murray for a lot (all?) of the season. LACs are missing Leonard and, while PG is good they aren't going anywhere without Kawahi. PHX has CP3 a year older and now the Ayers situation. POR isn't really a worry, although, having both guards healthy, they could be sneaky good. Jazz should be a challenge again and everybody hates playing in SLC, but still gettable by DAL. NO has issues and Zion out for a while. MEM is possibly a challenger, they have some talented youngsters there. It's going to be fun, I'm going to try and enjoy each game within itself and not look too far down the road. We have an opportunity to watch a unique talent every time they take the floor and that's enough to keep me interested. "I mean, I think Mark had this idea that maybe we could work together, [that] the stuff that he's good at I'm I might be deficient at and vice versa," Voulgaris said. "[Nelson is] more of a, kind of like a wheeler dealer, like when you shake his hands, you want to make sure your rings are still there. Not in a bad way, but he's that guy. He's a deal maker. He's a broker. My working relationship with Donnie Nelson was seeing him every once in a while and getting a fist bump. That was it. Whether it was a fist bump text message or a fist bump in person, that was his thing. He was very nice and cordial to my face, [but] I think threatened by me." "I sent [Cuban] an email where I was like, 'Hey, look, I'm just trying to fit in. I appreciate the opportunity. I don't want to ruffle any feathers,'" Voulgaris said. "And he was very clear, like, 'No, I don't want you to fit in. We're deficient in areas that you're good at. If it's hard, hard conversations have to be had.' Looking back on it, it was kind of like I was this missile to go in there and create the change and unlock some boulders that couldn't be moved before." He also compared the MBT to a "sewing circle". |
