RE: COVID-19: NBA suspended for "minimum 3 months" - ItsGoTime - 03-18-2020

Makes me wonder how many businesses are going to go under because of this. Either bad management or bad idea, I’m sure there are a lot of businesses that don’t have the deep pockets to survive 3 months without many customers.

1 trillion...really sad that with all that money came greed...

Everytime I get mad at something Cuban said, things like pledging to take care of the workers makes me appreciate not having Tillman or Dolan owning the Mavs...

Makes sense since even with practice there’s probably 200 people around. Hard to control that many germ carriers.

What would the breakthrough look like that could occur by June making it safe for players to play basketball without risk of infection?
Kindof a question for the experts honestly. Not that we'll be 100% safe once they claim it's ok, but it'll be at least a bit more controlled I'd think.

If we listen to those experts, risk of infection for NBA players will be an issue until the coronavirus has a complete resolution.
A cure.  A proven vaccine.  Perhaps seasonal destruction of the virus and a life cycle that completely ends the threat or reduces it to a tiny threat.

Competitive basketball players will require a major resolution to play without risk of infection.
Social distancing isn't realistically feasible in games under the rules of basketball for example.

Even if that's the sure-fire way, which I agree, I find it hard to believe that there won't be a period of time where the virus is still out there, but experts are saying to go back to your regular life. At that point is where I believe Sports will resume, who knows when that will be though.

Well, considering all the body contact and how they get up in each other's faces, every time the players take the court in the winter, there is some risk of picking up the seasonal flu or a cold.  The risk of seasonal flu is just something that we have accepted and we don't let it grind our lives and economy to a halt.  At some point, COVID-19 is either just going to be "out there" somewhere, or it will die out like SARS did.  I'm not sure when we will know the answer to that question.  But at some point, we are going to start back up the economy.

Agreed, although COVID-19 is beyond the seasonal flu in several ways and I'm sure the NBA won't want their players potentially getting it and spreading it among themselves and beyond.
That said, I do trust we will get past it, hopefully sooner rather than later, by God's grace.
There are some very promising treatments coming to light at record speed, so maybe we'll be talking Mavs basketball sooner rather than later.   Angel

This Kung Flu created a new currency that I wish I invested in earlier. It's a paper currency rolled onto these hollow brown cylindrical tubes, I believe it is called buttcoin

Sorry to disappoint you - while it should be a stable investment in times of crisis, as one unhappy producer of toilet paper stated: "people don't sh!t more than usual, so the currently increased demand will soon be followed by a decreased demand, when people live out of stock. Basically the current situation is causing logistic problems and nothing more ... "   There's very limited groth potential in that kind of market Big Grin .

Stay healthy!

If people use it in the way MrGoat suggested, then the rich (people with more TP) would sell it to the poor (people with less TP) for more than they bought it for and that would spread the "wealth" so as to make the time living from their stock a shorter period of time, making the period of logistic problems less an issue. When this is over, if the rich didn't sell to the poor, the poor will have to stock up quicker than the rich and I suspect there are more poor than rich.

All that stemmed from a joke. Shy

Kind of like the diamond market. Hoard the supply to create a false scarcity to keep the value high. Truly a craptocurrency

Though when they put Leonardo Di Caprio in a movie about it they may need to find a catchier title than Blood Paper
