RE: GAME 2: Washington Wizards (0-1) vs. Dallas Mavericks (0-1) | 7:30pm CST - hakeemfaan - 10-24-2025 I fully support Flagg getting 10-12 PG minutes because it will only help him, but putting him in that role primarily when he's never been that and trying to adapt to the NBA at 18 is silly. Looking at Flagg's history, his competitiveness and ability to take on challenges and then dominate, I don't have any fear that this experiment will have any harmful long term repercussions, but this season will be a lost cause. Maybe that's what Kidd and Nico want anyway. Have Flagg get used to handling the ball a lot even if just to get him comfortable as a secondary playmaker later, and also get a high pick to play alongside him. Else it makes no sense. Kidd has his faults but he is not this dumb. Hopefully not. LOL. RE: GAME 2: Washington Wizards (0-1) vs. Dallas Mavericks (0-1) | 7:30pm CST - Chicagojk - 10-24-2025 You know I had some hope the big lineup could work. Boy does that look bad now. I think even moving forward it is not the right play. You see Cooper when he gets a head of steam down the court, he is electric. No need to jam the paint. Get one big and the rest shooters. That is the way. And I am more interested in Livey than AD. Lively must be on a minutes restriction right? If not, you need to get him more than 19 minutes. Not sure there’s any point in this discussion, but I’ll respond as long as you guys want, I suppose. I was shocked by the trade, but can’t say I’d want him back at this point. I was out on the big lineup as soon as we established Lively still can't hit a 3 Only way double bigs can work offensively is if Lively is parked in the corner while Davis works solo in the middle with some cutting RE: GAME 2: Washington Wizards (0-1) vs. Dallas Mavericks (0-1) | 7:30pm CST - ThisIStheYear - 10-24-2025 (10-24-2025, 10:23 PM)KillerLeft Wrote: That’s an efficient half, yes. Efficiency was never his weakness. The offense got less efficient when Kidd took over but that’s just because Kidd isn’t that good of an offensive coach and Carlisle is. Again, there’s no point in discussing, but I had become completely disenfranchised with his game. RE: GAME 2: Washington Wizards (0-1) vs. Dallas Mavericks (0-1) | 7:30pm CST - ThisIStheYear - 10-24-2025 But yes, let’s talk about this team and our new hero. Flagg wasn’t really good, but he showed flashes of what he can become. It was progress. This team sucks though. The roster is extremely weird. I’m already ready to start the tank discussion. RE: GAME 2: Washington Wizards (0-1) vs. Dallas Mavericks (0-1) | 7:30pm CST - Smitty - 10-24-2025 I think the simplest and obvious adjustment is playing DLO more. 9 minutes won’t cut it. He’s your best PG and it’s not close. This team has more flaws than PG play. AD isn’t “taking over” the game and Flagg looks like a rookie. Klay is unplayable. Naji’s floater game has disappeared. Still no Gafford, so the “twin towers” identity isn’t there. I think PJ and Max are the only ones I’ve been impressed with so far. Long season, so I’m not overly concerned with their ability to compete, but I could see myself leaning all in to this being a develop Flagg season. This team needs Kyrie in a bad way… RE: GAME 2: Washington Wizards (0-1) vs. Dallas Mavericks (0-1) | 7:30pm CST - KillerLeft - 10-24-2025 (10-24-2025, 10:30 PM)ThisIStheYear Wrote: But yes, let’s talk about this team and our new hero. I love Flagg, and fully expect him to figure out anything he needs to figure out in order for the team to be great. I’m not against the idea of shifting 100% into the Flagg timeline at the deadline, if that’s what’s called for, but I’d like to see the team played in a more modern way for a stretch before they make that decision, personally. I actually think this team could be good…with a good tactical coach. TS% of 60% is efficient, especially on high volume. PER in mid 20s is efficient. There’s just nothing to discuss, no opinion necessary. Efficiency is math and only math. RE: GAME 2: Washington Wizards (0-1) vs. Dallas Mavericks (0-1) | 7:30pm CST - hakeemfaan - 10-24-2025 Luka could be annoying but his only flaw wrt offensive inefficiency was taking some bad 3 pt shots. Else he's one of the most efficient players around. Great post game, great mid range, even great on catch and shoot 3s. Honestly, I like the type of player that Flagg is more. I'm not a fan of the one man hero show where 4 others have to wait around, even though Luka is generational (and I don't throw that tag loosely). My expectation of a ceiling for Flagg is a more motivated version of an Andrew Wiggins. If he can be that, he will be fine even if he is not generational. For now the issue is not that Luka is not here but that we don't have an above average PG or SG and so the loss of Luka stands out more. If Kyrie was healthy, this team would look so different. There’s nothing else to it, it’s a measurement. There’s more to it than that, however. His good games (like tonight) are great. His bad games are REALLY inefficient. The numbers normalize. And meanwhile, everyone else is relegated to watching him play, then have to read “get Luka help” the next day. I think he’s a loser. If he ever wins a ring, we can meet back here and I’ll apologize. I wouldn’t have traded him - he’s so talented that I thought the best move was to keep trying to teach him the right way to play, but now that he’s gone I feel relieved that I don’t have to worry about whether or not he’ll ever get it. I’m not going to change my opinion, nor will I stop responding. Feel free to be the bigger man! |
