Is Beaubois on the French team? I assume not, just curious.

Nope. PGs are Ntilikina, Strazel and Albicy

So if USA and Serbia win their games tomorrow, regardless of exact result all quarterfinals are already determined, as teams that played in group stage can not be drawn against each other.

1 USA vs. Brazil
2 Germany vs. Greece (can not play Brazil gain)
3 Canada vs. France  (can not play Australia again)
4 Serbia vs. Australia

Only random draw would be semifinal opponents of the game 1 and 2 winners, from games 3 and 4.

If Serbia would lose against South Sudan, the score difference can change the rankings quite a bit and there are many scenarios. Either France or South Sudan would take Serbias' spot, Serbia would most likely slide into Australias' spot and Greece would be elimiated. Most likely quarterfinals would then be:

1 USA vs. Brazil
2 Germany vs. Australia (can not play Brazil gain)
3/4 Canada or France vs. Serbia or South Sudan (if South Sudan wins by 9+ they pass France in ranking and it would be Canada-Serbia and South Sudan-France)

Schroeder is getting a reputation of being a International competition killer.

I think most NBA fans think....Shroeder....Ok player..meh..some good, some bad. It is funny to think if he never played in the NBA and was doing what he is doing now, how many fanbases would be saying "man, we need to get that guy"

Absolutely - he‘s killing it as the leader and captain of Team Germany. I‘m wondering the other way around, what would he need / would have needed to show that clutch killer instinct in the NBA as well?

Is it only because his European three pointer is deadly - off the dribble, stepping back, you name it - and from NBA range it‘s not quite there?

Is it more psychological that he needs to be a clear starter with leadership responsibilities to thrive?

If he could provide what he displays for Germany over and over again he‘d be a game changer as a 6th man in the playoffs, like Jason Terry, but with much better playmaking and dribble penetration and less shooting.

Whoever had the idea to make 3x3 an Olympic sport is a genius. All these games are so dramatic. The two finals ended 17-16 and 18-17 in OT with a crazy fadeaway two for the win.

This should be a must have for the ASG.

The German ladies winning the final over Spain means the first Olympic medal ever for German basketball!

And Dirk Nowitzki watching the game from the front row next to Pau Gasol and the King of Spain made this even more special… Great competition!

Daddy Dirk is just checking in as children take over basketball.

Mavs need to monitor Bonga. If he starts making threes consistently, he´s a 15M year player. He´ll only get back into the NBA on the minimum or a small exception. There is definitely value to be had. Bruno is definitely an option, too.

Last few games you start to see why Obst is not in the NBA. He can´t get his shot off, when the opposing teams start to focus on him on defense. Today he was replaced as a starter for the 2nd half by Bonga.

RE: Olympics 2024 - Halfnir - 08-06-2024

That lineup of Bonga, Weiler-Babb, Thiemann plus the Wagner Bros was incredible defensively. And surprisingly, they were able to generated enough offense to be effective.

RE: Olympics 2024 - Mavs2021 - 08-06-2024

Schroeder might have taken over, but by God Patty Mills is the FIBA OG. Australia is 19/24 as Mills and Giddey can´t miss. Oh he just missed a shot.

44-20 Australia early in the 2nd quarter. Insane Aussie offense. I didn´t know Reath, the back-up C from Portland is an Aussie.

Serboian coach Pesic might murder Jokic and the rest of the team. That would make the play-offs a little easier next year.

RE: Olympics 2024 - Mavs2021 - 08-06-2024

Well stunning. Serbia came back from 24 down to win the game. Giddey looked really good. Bulls fans must be happy.

RE: Olympics 2024 - SleepingHero - 08-06-2024

Australia had a meltdown. Green was a DNP and appears to be out of Australia's rotation.

Exum was solid though. 12pts and 5 asts.

RE: Olympics 2024 - Chicagojk - 08-06-2024

John Hollinger
@johnhollinger
Josh Green: 14 points in Game 5 of the NBA Finals, zero points in the Olympics. Getting DNP'd for Matthew Dellavedova today.

I liked Josh Green and thought he was young and had room to grow, but stuff like this makes me wonder if he will ever get there and that we were probably right to move on.  It helps that I am a huge Grimes homer.

France beats Canada. First loss by Canada but they are out now. Sort of disappointing. I thought they would be a strong medal contender. Probably didn't help that Murray appeared to have a bad olympics.

France benched their starting center to begin the game (Gobert). Do you know what team did not bench their center? You can't get rid of him.

I think they benched Gobert because they knew Powell won’t be a problem on the boards or in the post.

Will be fascinating to see if they stay with their winning line-up of today in the rematch against Germany, because we have a lot of „quality size“ at the forward and center positions and should be able to outrebound them if they only play Wemby.

The closer was Fournier, who was benched because he criticized the coach after the loss against Germany, but then came through when they needed him.

They found that Wembanyama only line-up in the fourth quarter against Germany, when they cut the 25 point lead in half. So I fully expect to see the same S5 against Germany.

George Karl on Jamal Murray.

Poor Dirk. He´ll have to take another trip into the Australian outback. This time, he´s Holger and Satou Sabally from the Dallas Wings is Dirk. Just had a 0% shooting, 10+ TO quarterfinal against France.

RE: Olympics 2024 - RGP1981 - 08-08-2024

Germany off to a good start in the semi-final against the United Nations of Africa. Big Grin

Poor Dirk has to take Franz with him, too. Good luck with that contract Orlando. He seems like a frontrunner. Getting beaten by Yabusele. What a world.
